Excellent little grill. I bought this for my husband because he had been wanting a panini grill. I looked at the fancier, bigger, higher priced grills, but went with this one because it has a history of good reviews. Perhaps when he proves he is responsible with this one, I will get him an upgrade :)This one is nice because there arent a lot of settings to worry about and try to remember what settings to use for what. Just turn it on, watch for the light, and then you’re ready to throw your sandwich on there. He always uses thick sourdough bread and is happy with the way his sandwiches turn out. I told him to butter the grill, not the bread, and so now his results are much better. The non stick grill surfaces are nice and easy to clean. Even if a little cheese oozes out, it wipes right off with a paper towel. Nothing sticks to the surface at all.It is the perfect size for two nice sandwiches (on large bread), but yet not too big and bulky to have to worry about where to store it and it is not so big that it is cumbersome to move around and clean, etc.A lot of the other lower priced models that I looked at did not have the floating lid. This one does have the hinged floating lid so you can get thick sandwiches in there and the lid will lay flat and evenly on top.Aside from sandwiches, it is nice for burgers and steaks too. Nice to have something like this when it is too cold to go outside and run the big propane grill. We eat NY Strip and Porterhouse steaks a lot, so this little grill is really nice to get us through the winter months and not miss out on the beefy goodness. This sears them perfectly and we are able to get them done to our liking of “medium well.” Boneless split chicken breasts/tenders work out wonderfully as well.It feels very well made, especially for the price and we are both happy with it. I am happy to have found such a good model at such a good price and he is happy that it works so well and is easy to use. It is the perfect combination of price, performance and value. It is not lacking any necessary features and the build quality is perfect.
Perfect for two people, cord a bit short. What I don’t like.* The cord is a bit short. Our cabinets are the standard 13″+ a bit over the counter top and when I open this press it will hit the cabinet bottom before fully opened. If I slide the press close to the edge of the counter top so it will clear the cabinet when open, then the cord is too short to reach the plug on the backsplash. The cord only needs to be about 4″ longer – Grrr.* The grill top pivots freely – there is no arm to hold it parallel with the bottom. This requires the sandwich to be placed in the exact center of the grill and to be filled evenly or else the grill top will pivot and mush one side thinner than the other.* The cord is a pain to store. There is a provision on the bottom to wrap the cord but it is an anemic failure. What I like.* The price is nice for what I get. I have never used a sandwich press and wanted to try it out without committing to a large and expensive model. This one is perfect for what I want and the value is strong.* I love the size – this is just right for two people. I can make a big sandwich and we share, or I can turn out two smaller sandwiches. And it is easy to store.* To store, it will stand on edge to reduce the footprint – I love it!* Super easy to clean. If something gooey like cheese burns on then it will come off with just a damp paper towel or wooden spatula, that much force is rarely needed. Usually I just spray on my surface cleaner I use in the kitchen and then rinse that off under running hot water. Then I heat the grill to dry it and when cool I put it away.* The non-stick surface works great – even burnt cheese will come right off!* Super easy operation. Just plug it in to pre-heat. Red light means the power is on. Green light means it is up to temperature and ready to use. No knobs or switches – just plug it in and un-plug it when done!Overall this is a win, a good value, and perfect size for the two of us. The minor drawbacks are easy enough to deal with.
Inexpensive and effective press–use with CAUTION. We had panini all over Sicily for lunches–grilled sandwiches with fillings like ham and cheese or tomato with cheese and eggplant (my favorite “Alla Norma.” They are a way to make a meal out of simple fillings and good bread –with some soup and salad you even have dinner. So this press is simple and not terribly expensive. But it has some flaws, but if you can deal with them, it’s a good buy as as reliable as a waffle iron.1. The lid gets HOT HOT HOT. As in burn you bad. The grill below the lid is not insulated so NO CHILDREN operating this–and frankly no one easily forgetful. Use a silicone mitt to lift it when the sandwich is grilled. Oh, and that lid stays HOT after you finish grilling for quite some time. Oh, and no temp control or on-off.2. Not much in the way of an instruction book; a small, finely printed slim pamphlet.3. Short cord. It barely went from the counter to the outlet behind.4. No removable plates, so you will be cleaning it with a soft wet cloth when it cools. Now that the complaints are aired, I have to say, it made a well baked sandwich quickly and easily. Be sure to use a bread like ciabatta or Italian bread, not fluffy regular sandwich bread. The reason for this –the airy types of bread dry out as they bake in the panini press. Ciabatta rolls are used all over Italy and brushed with olive oil, they are crusty but not dry.As to Panini alla Norma, make a “Norma” pasta sauce (tomato sauce, eggplant, onion and a little garlic) and add slices of ricotta salata (dry ricotta aged in salt.) You can use feta for the ricotta salata, it’s hard to find in the US but you can make it at home. The eggplant cubes are often baked in recipes, don’t do that. Fry those cubes well and drain. Seriously, they need to be SOFT and SUCCULENT and not dry from baking. You can try air fry but douse with olive oil. Anyway you cut your eggplant (thin slices, cubes) make sure you cook it to gooey softness. One more warning; the filling will be boiling hot when you take the panino out to slice it. Again, caution and wait to bite into it if you don’t want a burned mouth.

Great inexpensive Pannini press. This Pannini maker changed our lives. As necessary for a modern kitchen as a toaster. Grilled cheese, tuna melts, grilled ham and cheese. All great, and way easier and faster and better than a toaster oven. Easy cleanup. 5 Stars.
Perfect sandwiches. I use this daily for sandwiches and it is very easy to use and perfectly cooks them.
It’s a hit. Really enjoying this item! It is great for any kind of sandwich as they all seem to taste better pressed. It does not have temperature control, but for our use that is not an issue. It heats up quickly and is easy to clean. You do have to be careful not to touch it while using it and while it cools down, as the heat is intense. I liked it enough that I am thinking of purchasing another one as a Christmas present.
Works Great, But Only One Heat Setting. I bought this to replace another panini press that broke. I like how sturdy it is. I like that the edges are raised to prevent oil from dripping off (something that was a hassle with my old press). I wish this had temperature control settings though. It would be great to even have low or high as options, but there is only on or off. I does the job, is easy to clean, and came at a reasonable cost though. Overall, I am happy with it.
Works great. Exactly what I was looking for. Does get very hot so be careful but makes a great panini. I suggest flipping half way to get evenly crisp on both sides.
Good product. Good product and easy to use
It does the job, simply and well. I am now a panini addict! I purchased this panini maker because it got good reviews and was inexpensive. I was so glad I made this choice! It’s super easy to use, just plug it in and wait for it to heat up. There is no option to control the heat, but every sandwich I’ve made has come out great! I’ve been eating panini sandwiches almost every day since I got this about 3 weeks ago. Yeah, there are lots of other appliances out there that have more bells and whistles, but this one does the job and does it very well! I’ve used pita bread, ciabatta bread and sourdough bread to make sandwiches so far. You do have to remember to unplug it or it will just stay on. Also cleaning it is a chore, but I just take a damp paper towel to wipe it down after it has cooled off. Other, more expensive models may have removable press plates that can be washed easily, but for me the trade off is actually having to remove them and later put them back on….I’d rather just wipe it down. Also I love that you can store it closed and standing upright which makes it easy to put in a cabinet for storage or, like I do, to push back against the counter wall out of the way, since I use it every day. Either way it uses less kitchen real estate than most other panini makers.
Best grilled cheese and panini maker. For the last few months, we have been using this panini press to make grilled cheese sandwiches and other toasted sandwiches. These sandwiches have all came out near perfect, melting the cheese just right and not burning the bread. The heat distribution on the press was great at first, though seems to have gotten worse over time. At first, all sandwiches were perfectly browned. This has transitioned to the outside facing bread being toasted quite a bit more than the insides. This is easily fixed by turning the sandwiches midway through cooking, though it is an inconvenience nonetheless. There is also no way to control the temperature, meaning that you will constantly be plugging and unplugging this device. You will also not be able to adjust the temperature to your liking, which could be a massive downside. Finally, cleaning this thing is a pain. There is no way to pull the grills off to clean, so you will need to wipe it down to keep it clean. I normally do a wipe with a wet paper towel and finish up with some dawn dish soap, water, and a dry pat.Even through all these downsides, this has still been one of the best purchases I have made for the kitchen. Every sandwich that comes out of this press tastes like heaven (and it looks cool). Well worth the asking price to me.
Great for homemade paninis. For the price and for what I bought it for, it does the job! You can fit two regular-size breads in there side by side. There is no temperature control so it’s just plug and estimate… For my sandwiches, usually a minute or a minute and a half will do the trick. Great for making kids grilled cheese sliders! Heat distribution usually goes around the edges first.
Love it. Bought this specifically for a girls lunch I was hosting. Worked perfectly right off the bat and we’ve used it several times since getting it just a few days ago. Gets hot fast, easy to use, easy to clean and doesn’t take up a lot of space when storing. So far, happy with the purchase!
