  1. GREAT FOR YOUR BASIC MIXING NEEDS. This hand mixer is medium sized and comes equipped with two traditional beaters and a whisk attachment. It also comes with a snap on storage case so you can store all the parts together. This keeps you from having to go on a scavenger hunt in your drawers every time you need your beaters. The mixer has a bowl rest feature and runs on 6 speeds with a quick burst button. Peak power is 250 watts. In the past, I have used both hand mixers and stand mixer and depending on the situation, I enjoy using both of them. When I purchased this product and decided to write the review, I decided to research the advantages of using a hand mixer. I read many articles that elaborated on the benefits of using a hand mixer, but the one that peaked my interest was published by Craftsy. It talked about a hand mixer vs a stand mixer and their differences. It also laid out the advantages and disadvantages of both of them and I want to share them with you now.HAND MIXERS: A handheld device of which there are:EGG BEATER: This is a hand held device with a crank on the side that’s connected to beaters (usually two). It i operated using two hands – one to hold a handle on the top to keep the beater steady and the other hand to operate the crank, creating the beating.ELECTRIC HAND MIXER: Basically, this is a more modern version of the egg beater type mixer, but with a motor (pictured here). A motor is encased in a top section which has a handle (not unlike an iron). It is the motor that moves the beaters rather than cranking a handle.ADVANTAGES OF HAND MIXERS:Less expensive than a stand mixerQuick and easy clean upIt takes up minimal space in your kitchenWell suited to quick tasks such as whipping cream or egg whitesBecause the beaters are not fitted to a particular mixing bowl, you can use a hand mixer in any type of bowlDISADVANTAGES OF HAND MIXERS:With a smaller motor, it’s mixing capability isn’t as strong as a stand mixerBecause the bowl will not be in a fixed position, it can be easy to splash what you’re mixing out of the bowl if you don’t have a steady handIf a batter is very thick, it can be difficult to maneuver the smaller mixer through it in a mixing bowlSTAND MIXERS: Stand mixers have a frame that acts as a housing for a heavier-duty motor than a hand mixer as well as a mounting base for a bowl. The bowl is designed to fit the mixer and lock in place during the mixing. Usually, stand mixers will have various mixing attachments including a flat beater (paddle), a whisk and a dough hook.ADVANTAGES OF STAND MIXERS:The large mixing bowl helps avoid splashing batter out of the bowlThe stable bowl allows you to walk away from the bowl. If you’re mixing something for 5 minutes, you don’t have to be holding the bowl and mixer the whole timeMixing is much quicker, even with a thick batter or doughStand mixers are more likely to come with bells and whistles, such as timers, automatic stop and other programmable settingsDISADVANTAGES OF STAND MIXERS:Cleaning the various parts can be cumbersomeStand mixers are significantly more expensive than hand mixersThey are heavy and large and take up a big chunk of kitchen ‘real estate’MIXING BY HAND: Before mixers, people would beat things by hand. If you don’t own a mixer, you can technically perform any of the jobs they do by hand.WHEN IT’S BEST TO MIX BY HANDIf a recipe calls for eggs ‘lightly beaten’ – simply do this using a forkIf a recipe calls to ‘fold in’ – it’s often best to do this by handMixing over heat – for instance when you’re melting chocolate and you have to stir frequentlyI personally purchased this particular hand mixer so that I could mix homemade skin care and beauty products. I own other mixers, but I use them for food prep. Although some of the stuff I make is food grade, I didn’t want to share my kitchen mixer with my beauty products. If you’ve never owned a mixer before, it’s best to start with a simple hand mixer such as this one. On the other hand, if you own a stand mixer, you would also greatly benefit from using this hand held mixer. So, to sum it up, you should really buy this hand mixer.

  2. Good quality, price, performance and looks. Two design improvements. I needed to replace a 30-year-old Sunbeam hand mixer that was a true workhorse. My previous purchase of a KitchenAid hand mixer did not meet my expectation and was returned for the purchase of this Hamilton Beach 62633R Hand Mixer.I ordered the Hamilton Beach 62633R Hand Mixer on 1/21/17 and it was delivered on 1/23/17, excellent turnaround time. The mixer and 4 other items I ordered were well padded in the box and all the items were intact. However, the mixer’s original factory box had one corner crunched. The box was secured with clear packing tape along the seam where the two flaps meet but the end of the tape near the crunched corner was stuck to itself and not fully adhering to the box itself. I mention this because it caused me to wonder if I was getting a returned item or a refurbished one. Some previous reviews said damaged mixers or mixers that appeared to be repackaged were received. I examined the mixer very closely and there was no evidence of damage. No scratches, cracks or broken bits. The beaters, whisk and dough hooks were sealed in the plastic bag from the factory. The mixer was in a plastic bag as was the case. The cord was coiled and held with a twist tie. Everything was packaged in the box exactly as you would expect it to be if you were pulling it off the shelf at a Target or Walmart. Who knows where or how that box was damaged as it was but as everything looks ok and the mixer is working I will use it and monitor its performance. I bought the mixer in red and it is a lovely deep and rich shade of red.The beater blades are traditional in design and I prefer this over the newer thinner wire blades that seem to be popular. In fact, I previously ordered and returned a KitchenAid hand mixer specifically due to the wire blades being weak and easy to bend. If I took 2 of the wire blades on the KitchenAid and pinched them together they moved easily. I have not used the whisk or dough hooks yet. The whisk looks like a whisk so I have no reason to think it won’t do its job. The dough hooks are smaller than I thought they might be but are in proportion to the mixer so again I have no reason to think they won’t work well. I do think the hooks will do the job of mixing chocolate chips into finished cookie batter. Really, I think the intention of the hooks is to finish a process. I’ve never baked bread so I have no idea if the hooks will knead dough well or not.**ADDING THIS TO ORIGINAL REVIEW: I have one complaint regarding the attachements that might be considered minor but it bugs me a little. The way of releasing the blades is not quick and easy. Changing speed means pushing forward to increase or pulling back to decrease speed. To get the blades off one has to PUSH DOWN on the speed lever/switch to release the blades and in my mixer it takes quite a bit of pressure to release both blades at once. I had to read the directions twice to make sure I got it right. In my experience the function is hard to execute. I can get one to pop off quickly, one will stick a little and then I have to give it another push to get the “click” you would hear when the blade is loosened. I found this to be the case using it for the first time mixing cake batter and frosting from scratch. Since then I have not used the mixer. I don’t consider this a reason to return it or to remove another star. I will stay at 4 stars for now. 1/28/17**The KitchenAid was light and didn’t feel sturdy. This Hamilton Beach hand mixer has a more substantial heft to it than the KA, 3.5 lbs. for the HB and 2 lbs. for the KA. I don’t find the difference in weight too heavy to wield easily or tire my hand and arm. This mixer is powerful for a little guy. 275 watt and 6 speeds with a burst of speed feature. The speeds increase to a powerful number 6 setting and yes, it’s a little loud. I can see the whisk would whip egg whites to a stiff peak quickly. The slowest speed is not a mild let’s-just-go-for-a-stroll speed. It is faster than you might expect. The mixer does not advertise a slow start feature so it’s not realistic to expect it. I read reviews saying sugar or flour were sent flying by the mixer causing a real mess. I mixed cocoa powder and confectioner’s sugar to make frosting. I started at the lowest speed then increasing to the middle to finish. I didn’t have a problem with sugar and cocoa dusting the kitchen. The frosting was smooth and fluffy because I whipped a fair amount of air into it using a higher speed. The whole thing was easy to clean and stores nicely in the case. Having an attached storage case was a real bonus for me. I think it’s great to have all the attachments in one place and to be able to wind the cord in the case as well. The mixer snaps securely on to the case and has a small foot print. It easily fits in a small lower cabinet in my small kitchen.Regarding the cord: it is fixed to one side and is the flat kind. It would be nice to have the option of locking the cord direction from left to right hand use. I would have preferred a round cord as opposed to the flat because a round cord is easier to keep clean.Bottom line: All in all, I am pleased with my purchase. Sturdy mixer, strong beaters and attachments. Powerful motor. Excellent storage case. The entire full size unit fits well in small spaces. Pretty to look at. If I encounter any problem I will update with my experience.I am removing one star because of the cord issue, the blade release issue and because the box was damaged. It may be picky but I would NOT have chosen a box with a crunched corner and dicey tape off a store shelf. The cord is a design element I think would improve the overall function of the mixer. My experience of sticking blades is inconvenient. I think it’s a mistake to use the switch that slides forward to adjust the speed to release the attachments by pushing down on the switch. There should be a separate button or something else to push.

  3. Powerful and easy to use, I wish the snap on container was a little bigger. Used it to make whip cream and waffles. I find it quite powerful and it is easy to hold in one hand. The snap on storage container is a great idea, but I wish it was a little bigger as you need to nicely organize the cord so it can fit in and be closed firmly. So far works great and I would buy it again.

  4. Great brand-name product. I have yet to use the product but I can’t say that I do like the color that I selected and I do like the Storage where your mixer blades are contained in the unit that attaches to the bottom of the mixer. Makes for very neat Storage. I got this during Prime day at a very affordable price. I think it’s great.

  5. Product As Advertised. I like the brand Hamilton Beach, the attachments and casing. I used it to mix and whip body butters sugar scrubs and soaps.

  6. Just what I needed. Love the attached container for storage of accessories, Keeps things all together. Lightweight, easy to use

  7. Works great. The speed is a bit high on the lowest setting, bit that also means the speed at the highest setting is good and strong. I just stir a bit without turning it on until a good portion of the dry is mixed in then turn it on to mix it properly. It’s shiny and beautiful! There’s s Tim that is indented all the way around, which makes it a little bit harder to clean as flour gets inside the rim, not it’s not a big deal really. It’s just if I want it squeaky clean. It mixed very well. The beaters have to be turned a certain direction to be able to be clicked into place, so you have to look inside to see that you have them in the right direction. So that’s a little bit of s pain. But all in all I’ll give them 5 stars since this is a really good machine.

Tough little mixer. I really like this! Works great. My old one just stopped mid-mixing. This one has held up well and is easy to store and clean. Price is good too!

  9. Simple mixer for simple mixing. With expanding my cooking skills I wanted something more than just mixing stuff by hand. This works well, blending, whipping, mixing and beating. This saves me time and a tired arm now I don’t have to do it by hand anymore. Simple controls and it stores small too.

  10. Excellent for the price. I think I received an open box version, because the box looked opened and the machine itself was wrapped up in torn up paper. But I don’t mind because I only paid around $21 for it. I do have a bigger standing mixer but I do a lot of smaller bakes during the week and don’t want to clean the big one all the time.I got this to replace my old hand mixer that I had for 11 years, so this one had big shoes to fill. With this one it was love at first use. It does an excellent and even job mixing batters, I have no issues at all. I have not used the whisk so I can’t tell but the beaters are great. Easy to use, easy to clean.Don’t really care much for the plastic case you can store the attachments in, for me its useless but I can see it might be useful for families with less storage space.

  11. Good for the price. I double-checked how much I paid for this before I left the review. If you’re getting it for less than twenty, then I’d say go for it. It’s a perfectly capable hand mixer for those of us who accept we would never get good value per use out of a stand mixer! I will say my least favorite thing is that the slowest speed is still pretty darn fast, so that’s a recurring nuisance, but, again, I didn’t exactly pay a ton of money for this. Otherwise works just as expected and has held up well over a year!

  12. Saved me a lot of time and muscle. This mixer has saved me a lot of time mixing over the years. It has gotten me through many cooking disasters (defined by any time I enter a kitchen), and holidays.I like the controllability of the speed. It covers a pretty wide range from turtle-speed to flinging icing clear across into the neighbor’s house, for you extreme kitchen users that live fast. The storage container that it clips into is super handy. The attachments haven’t rusted yet, and seem to cover all of the bases. It’s a little noisy, but I won’t hold that against it. I am too, after all.I’ve accidentally dunked this thing in a sink full of dish water, dropped it on the ground, dropped it on my feet a few times, and it’s still running. Completely un-phased, in fact.I strongly recommend this mixer. You need it. It needs you. You’ll form a strong bond through kitchen trauma together.

  13. Best mixer! Bought my 2nd. This is by far the best mixer! I was gifted the older version 18 years ago for a wedding gift. And about 17 years later it had to be thrown out. I think the mixers broke. So I ended up buying a kitchen aide for a replacement and that thing stank!! It was slow and the mixers broke in about a month or so. I thought it being kitchen aid it would be tough. Anyway, I decided to look up the new version of my old mixer and bought it. The thing works just like I remember and I hope to have this thing for another 17 or so years!!

Lightweight and a breeze to use l. This mixer is a pleasure to use – powerful enough for any use yet lightweight. So much nicer than my previous mixer. I’m just sorry I waited so long to order this but glad I finally did! Great price and greatmixer!

  17. Works great for the price. I purchased this to replace a hand mixer that I got for a wedding gift–50 years ago. What an upgrade!! I love that the cord is permanently attached–I was constantly having to replace the cord in my previous mixer, so that feature alone makes me happy. I agree with other reviewers that the slowest speed is still a bit too fast, but other than that, it works great. I also like the case to store the beaters and the cord, and the mixer fits on top. Great value for the money.

  18. Good quality. I love this little mixer! My old mixer was from 1988 and had mix, blend, stir and not much power. I used this mixer to make chocolate chip cookies and it worked like a pro. I was a bit skeptical at first but it did the job well. That was the first time ever that I did not have to get out my big mixer to do cookies. I used it for mash potatoes and it did a great job on them. Next try will be some type of herb bread! It makes my life a lot easier in the kitchen!!!

  19. Very powerful, efficient and clean looking. This is a great value for a cute little mixer! I have been looking at finding one for a while to make cookies and whisk my eggs with and after a friend said she had this same exact one from Amazon and loved it, I ordered it.I have used it several times so far and find it works very efficiently. It is not heavy at all, so it is very easy to hold. There are different settings to make it stronger and the top strongest one is almost too powerful. I like that it does the job and quickly. It mixes everything together effortless and I didn’t make a mess with flour spraying everywhere. The connector parts are simple to slip in and out and it has a nice little eject button. They were very easy to wash, just stuck it in the dishwasher and they were clean and when also when I cleaned them by hand they were an easy clean as well. The best part is that it has a cute little holder that fits the attachments in, so it looks nice and organized in my cabinet and does not take up too much space. Also there is a little plastic snap thing on the plug cord so you can neatly and nicely have your plug looking wrapped up nice and not all over the place.Worth the price for sure!

  20. Great value. This mixer was a great $21.99 that I spent. It is a great value. It works wonderfully and I love that it all goes inside the storage case when not using. My old mixer had a very short cord on it and was difficult to use. This mixer has a long cord and is easy to use. You don’t need to spend a lot on a mixer to get a good one. It has dough hooks and a whisking wire attachments.
