This grooming tool works great. I have a longhaired dog that starts matting up a week after a grooming. I have tried other combs and dematting tools that work ok but require a lot of time and effort, she also (the dog) does not care for the pulling and tries to get away. This tool requires less effort and is much more comfortable for the dog. Having the coarse and fine side also helps. A great tool for a good price.
The most incredible grooming tool ever. This is the MOST amazing de-matting grooming tool ever invented…My poor long hair Siamese kitty was covered in a couple of dozen mats (I know, I should have been brushing her regularly but I’ve been super sick so don’t judge). The mats were small, medium, large and huge. She’s always been a nervous kitty so I really didn’t want to subject her to an electric trimmer if not absolutely necessary. Besides, the gal that grooms my dogs charges $70+ for kitties and that’s just the de-matting service. So I read a lot of reviews on quite a few de-matting tools on Amazon and finally settled on this one, which just so happens to be very reasonably priced (yay). I liked the feature of having two sets of blades, one larger for breaking up the mats and a much finer set for breaking them up further so they could simply be brushed out (or at least that’s the theory). Let me say that this tool is absolutely brilliant, both for kitties and for very thick coated long hair dogs (my Great Pyrenees). To be really cliche, it’s the greatest thing since sliced bread…honestly. I first brushed kitty with the tool using the side with the larger, further spaced blades, just as the instructions say. I really had to get the precise spot of the mat and although initially I was brushing only in the direction her fur grows, I found it critical to brush in every direction in order to break up the largest toughest mats. Then using the side with twice as many blades, either the mat broke up completely OR came away from her skin far enough for me to cut it out with a small pair of scissors without injury. And much to my surprise, kitty actually thoroughly enjoyed the entire process. I did do one side one day and waited until another day to do the other so it would STAY and enjoyable experience for her. Goodness knows she had to be very uncomfortable with all those mats (and yes, I do feel VERY guilty…so don’t judge). As for my Great Pyrenees, this tool is hardy enough to get through her very very thick, very coarse coat and even though she doesn’t have any mats right now, they are pretty much par for the course if you have a dog with a coat like this so this tool will eventually come in very handy for the Pyr too. Since kitty’s coat is very fine, hopefully the blades are still as sharp as they were in the beginning. BUT even if I have to buy a new one to use on my dog’s super thick coat, it’s well worth it. I have used other de-matting tools (on various dogs) but none have been anywhere as good as this one. So definitely 5 stars and 5 stars for every feature. I’m just glad kitty didn’t have to endure an electric clipper and also that I didn’t have to spend $70+ on a kitty torture session.
Very very good. This is an excellent comb for removing Mats and tangles in pets, both cats and dogs of varying fur/hair thickness.I bought this primarily for a cat with medium, long fur. The cat is not a “long hair”, but definitely not a short hair, either. She tends to get matting along her hind quarters, and just behind her tail. She hates to be combed and usually gets crazy if I try to clip the matts. If she would let me comb her or brush her regularly, we would not have this problems… But she makes the rules.Anyway, when I got the comb, I was glad it had two sides of varying comb numbers (as stated in the listing). This is nice because you use the lesser number of combs first, then move to the higher number. This way there is no pulling. My cat was frightened when she saw this thing, and then turned to happiness when I began to effortlessly comb her mats out. Now, her matts are not severe, however, I believe this would work on medium matting. Anything more and you will want a groomer to take care of it.The blades are very sharp, and overgrooming with this tool will thin the hair too much.I was able to use this on multiple pets with differing fur thickness, even a fine, silky cat, and not only did it remove matts, tangles and undercoat binding, but they all loved this thing.Anytime I bring this out, all the little monsters come running to me, for their turn. It’s especially nice to see the one who was very afraid of combs and brushes, she is quite happy when she sees this and is ready to be groomed.I would imagine that once the blades get dull, as there is no way to replace them or sharpen them, you should get a new one. Dull blades in a comb like this would be very painful for an animal. At that point I would definitely buy a new one.Lastly, I don’t think you will want to use this for every grooming. Only when there is a matting concern. As I said, it will blunt the hair, otherwise.Over all, great, and will definitely buy again when needed. Sorry for any typos I’m writing this on my mobile, which has a mind of its own.
The handle is… weird. I’d give this 5 stars if it weren’t for the super squishy handle. Other than that, this is literally the best dog brush I’ve ever owned (or rather, grooming rake). My dogs LOVE being brushed by this thing. It does a great job removing the undercoat left from the winter and thinning out thick fur. Super easy to clean, the hair just pulls right off. With a little gentle effort, it removes smaller burs, but bigger ones still need to be cut out. My only complaint is the handle. I guess I didn’t read or realize or understand from the description just how squishy the handle would be. It’s an odd feeling, and honestly, it feels like I have less control over the brush than if it were just a solid, or even hard rubber handle. Seems unnecessary to have a handle that squishy.
A great tool to resolve mild matting with minimal discomfort for my pet. We have a cat that struggles to groom his back legs and rear, and that becomes *very* aggressive when his hind quarters are touched. We’ve tried a variety of combs and brushes over the years and no matter how many treats we have on hand, we usually come away bleeding.Purchasing this comb was a game changer. He tolerates the wide toothed side of this comb better than anything else we have tried, and over the course of several sessions we have been able to gradually work out the tangles and mild matting in his coat with no biting or scratches.I will say that I don’t know how well this comb works for tight/severe matting, or matting that goes down to the skin.My tips for using this comb with a difficult cat:1) Use a high value treat and time things well so that the treat directly corresponds to being brushed. We do a churu tube in one hand and the brush in the other. If he’s getting combed, he’s getting treats. If he disengages from the treat to hiss at the brush or something, we take a break from brushing but also stop giving treats.2) Don’t try to get down to the skin immediately. If you work in short strokes as the directions included with the product suggest, you will be able to work your way down to the skin with minimal pain for your cat, provided the matting is not severe. I made the mistake of going a little too hard at first and almost soured my cat on this tool.
Well made, Useful Tool. I was seeking a sturdy and truly sharp-bladed mat cutter for my adventurous beagle-poodle-mix scamp who works burrs and sticky matter into her fur. This implement meets both criteria, and I am happy with it. My only demure is the silicone handle where I would have preferred wood.
Works well. Works well for stripping my Airframe without pulling. She does not particularly like being brushed, but likes this.
Succeeds where others fail. Our elderly long-haired Himalayan cat has sensitive skin and severe mats. We tried several grooming tools to remove them without success. We purchased this item as a last resort before having him shaved. All we can say is this tool is AWESOME! The coarse teeth are incredibly effective and efficient at breaking up and removing mats. Because of his sensitive skin we can only work on him a few minutes a day but each time we work on him it removes huge clumps of fur and the occasional mat. With a few uses it has already begun to restore his coat to its former glory and alleviate the pain that these mats must be causing him. Don’t waste money on imitations; buy this professional grade product for your beloved pet.
Amazing. This brush is amazing! The amount of hair it removes from my Maine Coon/domestic long haired mixed cat is incredible. It’s also gentle on his skin (doesn’t scratch him at all) and leaves him looking fabulous! The handle is soft and squishy but sturdy enough that it doesn’t slip out of my hands while using it. It combs through tangles and mats like they’re not even there without pulling the hair. I’m not sure how it does it but it’s like magic! The hair is easy to remove from the brush as well.I’ve never used a better, more effective brush in my lifetime of brushing cats. It’s definitely worth the money! 10/10 would buy it again!

AMAZING. My furry cat baby is a little round, maybe too round to properly groom himself. A few weeks ago, I was petting him and discovered several mats on his back and hind quarters of his legs. Over the next few days, I tried to comb them out then I tried to cut them out, it was painful, and he was not having it! I googled “what to do about mats in my cats’ furs” and researched several options before heading to Amazon to exercise a few of the choices I had decided on. I ordered this Deshedding/Dematting comb, detangler for cats and a cat razor (ultra quiet). Let’s just say that this dematting comb worked so well that I never needed to use the detangler or the shaver. It combed (cut) the mats out like butter and he purred the whole time. His fur is silky smooth and he is happy and still a little round (the next topic I googled). I HIGHLY recommend this dematting comb for mats a cat might have. It was above and beyond my expectations and everyone was happy and I was relieved!
Works pretty well. This brush gets a lot of hair off my cats. It can’t easily get through large knots, but only scissors work for that. I wish the hair wouldn’t stick to the gel like handle.
Really works. This comb really works to get mars out of cat hair. I was very impressed at how well it cut through the hair yet never pulled or hurt my cat as I was combing. Highly recommend
