  1. Your New Best Friend June 2, 2023 at 12:00 am

Excellent quality, might run a little big and tall. I’m 5’2″ and I weigh 160 with an hourglass figure with somewhat short legs. I can fluctuate to 165 and back down again. My weight is presently on a downward trend overall again so who knows. I tried these on just after they arrived today. I absolutely LOVE the quality of the pants. They are so soft, a true white, and not a thin material so any colored underwear could be worn and not show through. The stitching is nice and I have nothing to complain about except that the process to determine my size and fit was confusing. I bought a size 16 short. It was long in the torso. I know I wanted high waisted and they definitely were. They came higher than my waist. It was almost fine in the waist as far as circumferemce but it had extra, and the jeans are made of a soft stretchy material so if they were already baggy, then by the end of the day I’m sure they would have been worse. If they got a little bigger while fitting snug at the beginning of the day or if they started out fitting just right, then it wouldn’t be an issue. Being these are already ridiculously big, I have to return them. If I wore them like this, it means they would appear to add on weight. It had extra room in the hips and too much room for me in the bottom and a ridiculous amount of extra room in the legs starting in the upper thighs to the point of being baggy and I do in general like length in pants for taller shoes but this was too much. I was afraid by the look of the model in the picture they would be too short. I was wrong. She is not my height and is much taller. “Short” pants did not make up for it. Maybe the next size or two down would. I don’t know how many exchanges I will need to do.I wish they would be more clear on whether people like me should get petite or short. I was under the impression that petite was more of a thinner build and not necessarily based on the length. I’m not sure if I’m supposed to wear a 16 but in a petite? I don’t want to keep sending pants back and forth. Maybe I’m a 14 short? Maybe the pants vary from pair to pair within the same brand, style, and size just like other brands in the stores do? I know in another brand I wear a size 12 short and they fit just like they were made for me, but I went on what the size chart for Gloria Vanderbuilt had when I ordered these. I’m still confused on what they call short and petite and why I can’t have a petite short. If you can figure out your size or you luck out, get them! Maybe my body is just odd, lol.I’m knocking down a star just for how confusing the size chart is with the lack of communication about the difference between short and petite and not being able to choose both though they are listed in the two categories.

  2. Surprised.. did anyone else know this about GV jeans. After repeatedly trying on sizes of Gloria Vanderbilt Amanda jeans, which I’ve bought repeatedly 20 years, I noticed that within each size there are different names(And I’m not referring to petite, or tall etc)which correspond to the % of fiber… cotton, polyester spandex.. for example,… I ended up keeping one called Magical Stretch.. But there are 2 other names in 8 short Amanda..I spent an extensive amount of time buying, trying on, mailing back, and investigating the fiber content to find the perfect light jeans. I would have thought GV would have made the NAME difference apparent or at least noted it on the Amazon page. And being a long time purchaser of the Amanda Jean, I never noticed even in the store that the makeup of the material could be so different in the same size.

  3. Quantity Limit and Sizing is Inconsistent. Gloria Vanderbilt is the only brand of pants that I can wear. They fit to my body without being tight and there is plenty of stretch for my curves. I find that they last for about five years or so before I need to purchase new pants. Other pants will have a huge gap at the back or the waistline will dig into my waist when I sit. This brand doesn’t do that. Also, while the pricing goes up and down, it isn’t hard to catch it on sale for about $20 a pair or less. Which makes it affordable. (I do not buy unless they are on sale). The downsides of this brand is that the sizing varies widely from color to color, which is very odd. I would order a lot more colors if I could, but every color fits different and I don’t want to deal with the hassle of ordering and returning. Even within the same color, the sizing will vary a bit. For example, I ordered three pairs of the same pants (I need four, but the seller won’t let me purchase more) and two of them fit perfectly. One of them is significantly tighter than the other pairs, fitting more like a size 18 than a size 20, even thought the label says “20”. But I can still fit in them, so I’ll keep them.I’m upset about not being able to order more because of the quantity limit. I figured if I waited a few days, I’d be able to order again. Nope. Not the case. They don’t tell you when you can order more.

  4. Bought 3 pair…1 is a size smaller fit. I’m a product of the 80s and Gloria Vanderbilt pants were the thing to wear in the 80s. I never got any because I was so poor and when I seen them online here for under nine dollars I decided to order one pair. It fit me great despite all the other feedback, but I also have hips and a smaller waist. So I decided to order two more pair. They came the very next day, which was great! I decided I would try them both on despite the size being the same as the one I already loved. The first pair fit me great just like the day before. But the second pair fit like it was a size smaller yet it said it was 16p like the other two. I don’t think I’ll be keeping it because I don’t plan on losing weight anytime soon and I don’t know anybody to give it to that’s a little smaller than me. Just make sure you try your clothes on when you get them from Amazon because even though they have a certain size on them, doesn’t mean they fit properly. Two out of three wasn’t bad but now I have to go through the return process. Thankfully that’s easy on Amazon anyway. Because two out of three fit so good and the price was great I am still going to give them five out of five stars.

  5. Bad smell. These are nice jeans except for the smell. They smell like mildew. Gloria Vanderbelt jeans that I buy ( and I only buy this brand) , in the stores do not have a bad smell. This is the second time I have ordered off line and coming from China, they have that smell and it is very hard to get the smell out. My regular 18’s were getting a bit tight so I ordered an 18W. These are too loose, but that is my fault.

  6. Petite versus Short in sizing—confusing. I was glad to see the fabric content for these jeans was mostly cotton with some spandex. Some manufacturers today are using material made from recycled plastic bottles and while this may be good from an environmental standpoint, I prefer the cotton and think it will prove more durable in the long run. I purchased these jeans in Black and Scottsdale Wash. I like the high-rise style because it fits better at the waist than mid-rise. The jeans fit well but I found them to be a bit looser through the thigh than I expected. I am 5 feet tall. I was in a hurry when I ordered these jeans and inadvertently ordered one color in a 12 Short and the other in a 12 Petite. When they arrived, the 12 Short was the length I expected but the 12 Petite was a regular length so I had to return them for a 12 Short. For me, the terms “Petite” and “Short” usually mean the same thing from an inseam perspective. So, you short ladies out there who need a short rather than regular inseam, be sure to choose “Short” rather than “Petite” when ordering these jeans.

  7. True to size, thinner legs. I originally ordered a size 20 WP. They were a little big. I normally wear an 18WP but jeans can be a little tight so I went with a bigger size. It wasn’t necessary. There is a slight stretch in the material. I kept the 18WP. The length was much shorter too. I am only 5’2 and 198 lbs. so length is usually a problem. For some reason the length on the 20WP were a few inches longer. I am an apple shape so finding pants to look good they must be straight or narrow. I have two minor complaints. First the butt area was just a little baggy. My butt is pretty flat compared to my stomach area. That’s a fairly common problem. Secondly, the button hole was too small. I had to cut the button hole a little to get the button in. I would recommend these jeans for a person who wants a more straight pant. The price was great too. I just washed them before wearing so I hope they didn’t shrink.

  8. I’m very happy with my ‘Gloria Vanderbilt- Amanda’ tall length jeans. They are a perfect longer length. Just touch big on the waist but with a belt are perfect. Nice amount of stretch & great quality. Will get plenty of wear. Arrived ahead of the date advised. A winner all around. Thanks.

  9. Perfect for my 5’11” self. I have always turned to this brand for both quality and because they actually have a tall size for those who, like me, are actually tall! At 5″11″ and 160 lbs, I ordered size 14 Tall.PRO: Waist fits perfect, hips are roomy enough for sitting all day (I’m in a wheelchair), length of legs is perfect for whether sitting (comes to about an inch above ankles) or standing while transferring or using crutches (just below the ankles). My legs are atrophied after over a decade in a wheelchair, so legs will always fit loose on me even in yoga pants. That said, they fold up neatly without creasing under my tight-fitting leg brace. Goes into or over boots (depending on which style I wear) neatly. These wear quite well for several YEARS without too much fading even after heavy work and weekly washing. I have never encountered shrinkage with this brand and style. Comes up to just below the navel on me, which is perfect for work, play, or casual outfits. I have yet to wear this brand of jeans out, I only ordered new ones to replace old ones that became too small thanks to 2020. I typically wear with a 1 inch belt and OWB holstered full-size sidearm and small radio, which the belt loops handle like a pro (I’ve never pulled one out).CON: None in the 20-odd years I’ve worn this brand.HIGHLY RECOMMEND !!!

The Brand of Jeans that Always Fits. Jeans that really fit are one of those things that each of us hassle to find. Some brands are adapted from a mens’ pattern while others are based on ideal model measurements. I find the Gloria Vanderbilt Amanda jeans fit me perfectly every time, no matter which style I try. I am 5’4 with a 33-inch inseam and I have an hourglass figure (more or less). The waist fits, the hips fit, there is just enough stretch for comfort and bending but the jeans aren’t painted onto my legs, the length is always perfect! I have some I bought almost 10 years ago and they have held up as if new. The black jeans can fade, as most do, but with careful washing stay dark longer than most jeans. I wear them everywhere. At work and out at night they look great dressed up, around the house I don’t have to worry about seams or stains. These work great for me, but if they don’t work for you Amazon has great returns. It really is worth trying this brand as they’ve been around for a long time and the advertised cut is always the same. They don’t mess around with adding trendy stuff, they are just quality jeans.
