| Directions | Use the undercoat deShedding tool much like a brush, gently stroking across the pet’s coat in the direction of hair growth, angling the stainless steel teeth towards the coat. Start from your pet’s head and work your way back, using extra care near the stomach, legs, genitals, and anus. Avoid making excessive strokes in a single area, instead using fewer long, gentle strokes up and away from your pet’s skin. Although the Skinguard design prevents digging in at edges and helps the undercoat deShedding tool slide over skin, deep or rough brushing can still irritate pet skin, so avoid brushing with excessive pressure. If you notice any redness or irritation discontinue use. |

Fantastic Results, Really Helps Control Short Hair Shedding- Help with Size Choices. We adopted a rescue puppy this summer who has grown a very short but wiry coat that sheds pretty bad- I find hair on our clothes, couch throws, her bedding, the floor, you name it. I read about this product in search for some sort of solution- I know that nothing will totally rid the house of shedding dog hair but I was hoping to at least find something to cut it wayyy back. The Furminator does exactly that- I bought the the mid-size (orange) one for short hair dogs on black Friday and have used it almost every morning since. WOW- what a huge improvement I’ve noticed EVERYWHERE. Less hair on our clothes, the floor, etc. We crate her every night and in the morning as I take her out I grab her Furminator and a regular brush. After she potties and we walk a bit I carefully run this over as much of her hair as I can, concentrating on the thickest parts on her lower back and behind her head (it’s just bushier in those areas). You can’t press down super hard or it will hurt and most likely cut the skin, but you want to use a steady hand and enough pressure (medium pressure?) to grab hair. Even though her hair is short, it definitely grabs the loose hair that would be falling out inside my house! Sometimes a lot comes off of her, sometimes not as much- but it always grabs something. After I finish Furminating her, I use the regular brush on her all over to remove even more and smooth her all out. At first our pup really hated it, and hated being brushed, but she’s grown more calm and patient and will mostly sit still until she’s just had enough and lets me know. You definitely want to use this outside- YIKES the hair you remove will be in your house if you don’t. I can see it blowing into the air when I’m outside using it. For those of you tempted to buy the largest size (blue) even though your dog isn’t super big, I struggled with that myself. Our dog is 23 pounds and not very big- but she’s super muscular and SOLID. I considered getting the bigger one thinking it would save time and I’d have to make fewer passes with it on her body- BUT I just don’t think that would have been the case. I really DO use the orange one to get into some smaller places on her (legs, throat) that would be much more diffiult if I’d purchased the largest size. And the orange one feels good in my hand- it’s a solid tool with a little weight but very easy to use once you find the right pressure to apply (and once your dog decides to settle down and let you do the job). I’m glad I went with the Furminator- I saw the less expensive ones on Amazon and just thought that if there was something to put a little money into it would be this tool that is going to save me time and aggravation minimizing the dog hair on our clothes and all over our house. I think I paid $22 and it was totally worth it. OH! And the button on mine definitely DOES RELEASE the dog hair that it combs off, but sometimes I DO shake the tool and even blow on it occasionally but *poof* the hair blows away in the wind. Great product, highly recommend!

Perfect for Short Haired Doberman, Pittie, & Boerboel Mastiff. Wow, wow, wow! Ok, I’ve been one of those people who thought short-haired dogs didn’t really need to be brushed, until my sweet Dobergirl started getting dry, itchy skin and patchy and straw-like fur growth. I looked into a local groomer and saw they offered Furminator undercoat cleaning / removal. I Googled Furminator, watched videos, and saw that they make this one for large, short-hair dogs. I thought if I cleared out some undercoat myself, I could then afford to have the groomer do a thorough wash with an added skin treatment. So, I ordered this Furminator, plus a good skin supplement and a potent bone and collagen supplement to add fatty acids, since her inflammation and dryness seemed to be systemic. The photo you see is after 10 minutes of a total grooming newbie (me!) grooming just my 2 dogs’ BACKS and a little on their sides. I haven’t even hit their hips, legs, etc yet. The photo I attached is a cereal bowl, and it isn’t just full but pressed down! Look at all the dead skin! It’s disgusting. No wonder their skin isn’t healthy! 🙁 This tool is phenomenal, and my Dobergirl already seems shinier and more comfortable (we’re in the AZ desert and in May it’s already 100 degrees outside). I use it on the Mastiff mix in the photo, too. These are both VERY short haired dogs; you’d never know by looking at them how important a good grooming is. But, it’s important, and imperative.Note: rub the tool along your own arm to determine the angle and pressure to use on different parts of your dog. The teeth are sharp and can hurt, and should be used at as acute of an angle possible to still be effective; the closer to 90 degrees / straight up and down you have it, the more uncomfortable. It hurts them more on bony areas such as knees and lower legs, so use tiny repetitive strokes followed by coconut or olive oil or aloe if you need to groom these spots.Best of luck! I highly highly recommend! And bonus – it brushes loose fog fur off my couch!
Absolutely the best for an undercoat. I have a Chow mixed with herding dog (I think) and he has a thick, fluffy that leaves dog hair tumbleweeds in my house. This Furminator Deshedding tool is easy to hold, wide enough to help the job get done quicker and gentle enough that even my impatient senior citizen dog stands still and enjoys getting groomed. Mostly. One thing that doesn’t work so well is the hair release button. I’m not sure if it’s because my dog’s undercoat is so soft or fine but it doesn’t release the hair. Using the button makes it easier to pull it off but I’m guessing it’s supposed to fall off rather than me shake it or tug it off. If you have a fluffy dog you need one of these.I have a much smaller Furminator, too. I don’t think I got it from Amazon (sorry Amazon) but it works great on the very short hair of my lab mix. Labs don’t look like they would shed a lot but they shed a crazy amount and the little Furminator helps cut down the amount of hair in my house. An added bonus is that it’s gentle so he likes getting groomed.
Nothing worked until this. My dog is half-German Shepherd, half pitbull terrier. Which means he has very wiry fur with a thick, short undercoat. Oh, and he sheds constantly and abundantly. I’ve tried every brush on the market, but this is the only one that’s ever worked so well. I brushed an entire pillow worth of stuffing off my guy the first go around. I’m thoroughly impressed, and I’m excited to take a day off of vacuuming!
Exactly what I needed. I have 2 large dogs and both shed alot. Getting to the undercoat is difficult. And it is not unusal to see small balls of hair rolling outside (Western tumbleweed style). This deshedding tool is very easy to use. The instructions are clear, and I followed them to the ‘T’ and got a good result.Skittish dog: she never ran or yelped once. So a definite A+Grandmaster Shedder dog: enjoyed it a lot. He only turned once at the clicking sound (to remove the fur). The device is weighty, which I did not expect but makes me feel like I bought a sturdy product. All areas functioned as described. The click to lock the Edge Guard in place took a little while to get it right – but no problems now. Instructions were clear: Inspect, brush, shed (angle, start point, direction), remove collected hair. The dogs look great, the undercoat is removed, hair isn’t flying all over and dogs were not harmed.Highly recommended.
Worth every penny. I have a corgi mix that sheds constantly and have never been able to find any sort of grooming tool to help minimize that. This was just delivered an hour ago and I have to say WOW. The amount of hair this thing collected in just 5 minutes is unbelievable. His hair is about a quarter inch in some spots and up to an inch in others. It did not irritate his skin (I tried rubbing it on my skin roughly to test the blade and it’s not painful at all) and it cleans up really easily. Love this product.
A Decade-Long Wait Justified by the Remarkable Efficacy of Furminator Products Overall. In retrospect, my decision to acquire this product after a decade of contemplation appears both judicious and long overdue. Initially deterred by what I perceived as a steep price point of $75 upon its initial release, circumstances have evolved, leading to a reassessment of its value, which we paid $28.98. With the addition of three feline companions and the unforeseen acquisition of a dog, previously regarded as an inheritance, our household dynamics prompted a reconsideration of this investment. The catalyst for our purchase was our newfound reliance on the TSC Dog Bathing Station at our Tractor Supply Store, where the convenience of a $10 dog bath, devoid of the complications associated with home bathing, became increasingly apparent. The avoidance of bathroom-related chaos and the elimination of persistent cleaning endeavors {cleaning afterward -including the ceiling when they shake off water and through out the house as they dry- because they provide towels for drying your pet and they have a dryer there} and the circumvention of the need for multiple towel washes to eradicate dog-related odors all contributed to the tangible value of this innovative product which they provide for customers to use for free and see how valuable the Furminator is.In light of our experiences, I unequivocally endorse this product, recognizing its remarkable efficacy in enhancing the well-being of our pets. The transformative impact on their disposition became palpable as the product effortlessly addressed the accumulation of dead, soiled, and burdensome fur. Witnessing the discernible improvement in our pets’ happiness serves as a testament to the undeniable benefits conferred by this exceptional product.DO NOT FORGET TO BUY THE FURminator NAIL CLIPPERS TOO!! “Indispensable FURminator Nail Clippers”In addition to the stellar performance of the FURminator Deshedding tool, a noteworthy addition to our pet care arsenal is the FURminator toe nail clippers. Having expended over $200 across sixteen years in pursuit of an effective solution for nail trimming, our search culminated in the unparalleled efficacy of the FURminator pair—a sentiment equally applicable to both canine and feline companions. The decision to explore the FURminator nail clippers was serendipitous, motivated by a moment of curiosity during the acquisition of the FURminator for fur maintenance. Priced at a modest $8.95 on Amazon, my initial skepticism was swiftly dispelled upon utilization. This impromptu investment emerged as the epitome of judicious decision-making, surpassing the performance of previous acquisitions with unparalleled precision and efficiency.Conclusively, the inclusion of the FURminator nail clippers has fortified our pet care routine, complementing the transformative effects. This inadvertent discovery serves as a testament to the brand’s commitment to quality and reinforces our unwavering endorsement of FURminator products for comprehensive and superior pet grooming.
Works awesome, very $. I’ve included a photo of my beautiful Border-Aussie whose fur looks even nicer after using this brush. Photo post brushing. It was much more gentle on her skin than my previous deshedding comb and it took massive amounts of loose hair off.The little thing you push to push the hair off the comb is kind of silly and useless for me. It sort of works, and it might work on the short stiff hair of a Husky, but my dog’s hair is fine and just clings to it. Really, No big deal, idc. The comb gets all the hair off, it’s great – the best comb I’ve ever used.I highly recommend this comb, however, I paid just under $35 for it and that’s just crazy. Pet stores charge the same, I looked, but I have Amazon Prime so it was most cost efficient to order it from here. The thing works awesome, made well, and the handle ergonomically superior imho. That said, I think the manufacturers have taken a little advantage of the superiority of their product and probably could come down in price. They should, because they’d sell more. If it weren’t for the cost I’d give this 5 stars.
This…Thing…Works. I have a short haired Vizsla and after using this his coat is super clean, shedding cut down by a ton, and it just works and cleans up really easily. So much better than paying a groomer to do this “treatment” when all you have to do is spend 10-15 minutes with your dog. Great product!
FURminator Undercoat Deshedding. This product for removing pet hair is AWESOME! I was completely blown away. I brush all my dogs and cat daily thinking I was removing loose hair but this FURminator is incredible. What I removed was beyond.Fantastic and they all rally around me for a turn. They love it!
Works good. This works good but gets caught between the teeth and the part that is supposed to release the hair. My dogs hair is on the thinner side. Also the hair release will not lock in place to protect the teeth like it says. I hope that it doesn’t shorten the life of the brush.
great item. works perfect on deshedding my dog
Great value, prevents exta fur cleanup. Very good, easy to use tool for defurring animals. It prevents amount of shedding.
Golden retriever. Every person who has a golden retriever needs this. I would suggest getting in as minimal clothes as possible when using this because it WORKS. Very effective. Great quality for the price. Take all the hair off. But my puppy is still so fully. Makes his fur so soft. Golden parents !!!!!
Works perfectly. This product is amazing!! It pulls all of the loose hair out of my dogs coat and leaves him feeling so soft! Overall amazing brush and easy to use
Life changer for shedding. Life Changing! The Furminator is hands-down the best grooming tool I’ve ever used. After just one session, I noticed a huge reduction in loose hair around the house. My dog actually enjoys it—he loves the feel of the tool as it gently removes the undercoat and gives his skin a little massage. It’s quick, easy, and incredibly effective. Highly recommend for anyone with a shedding pup!Plus, i’m a clean freak about hair on the floors. And just in a few hours I noticed such a difference. What a game changer. Great product.
Works great. This is a must have! Great quality, last 4 years until I dropped it in on concrete, the top shield broke off making brush fall apart. Cheaper on here than in the pet store. Highly recommend. Just be careful not to press too hard as I did accidentally make my dog bleed w a smaller scratch do to pushing to hard. I have two German shepherds one has shorter hair and one is longer haired. Brush is super easy to clean though.I do notice a lot of dander getting stuck in the metal teeth. Notice some pooling of hair on my longer haired Shepherd, he is more sensitive so I use spray conditioner when brushing around this neck. This is a lifesaver for vacuuming everyday removes so much hair every use.
Short Hair/Long Hair Exactly The Same. This works beautifully! Crazy how much hair it helps get out. 4 stars because I purchased two—one for short hair dogs and one for long hair dogs (because I have both) and they are exactly the same. No difference in the teeth length or spacing. You literally can’t tell them apart after you get them out of the package with the labeling. But worked great on both dogs.
