  1. Amazing. This cookbook is an amazing value. It’s really a comprehensive book on sports performance nutrition with a ton of great recipes. I don’t do well with complicated recipes, and this Angie does a great job of simplifying everything so even a novice like me can succeed in the kitchen. The book covers everything from meal prep to nutrition basics to sports performance nutrition, and the recipes include everything I could want. I certainly haven’t come close to making everything in here, but everything I’ve tried so far has been great. Definitely worth picking up.

  2. A Must-Buy for Anyone & Essential to Fitness & Nutrition Enthusiasts. This book is amazing for so many different reasons – it’s perfect for those wanting to be educated and given recipes to improve overall health while also being a staple for those who are already knowledgeable about wellness and performance. Whether you’re an athlete, someone just starting out on a healthy lifestyle change, or just someone into fitness who wants an extra tool in their toolbox, this book is a minefield of useful information and recipes. I really really love how she incorporates basics on macros, calculating your RMR and performance foods, then goes deeper into energy needs, timing of meals, and subjects like creatine and probiotics. She even includes meal plans for those wanting to lose weight, gain weight, and vegan/vegetarian plans with recipe variations. For ANYONE coming to me with questions about where to start or even friends of mine like me who are already years deep into their athletic performance / wellness journey, I direct them to this book. I’m someone who also has a heavy science-based background, and this book spares no expense with study-based facts and nutrition (even nutrition facts of each recipe for both weight loss and weight gain at the back fo the book). No matter where you’re at with your health, everyone has someone to gain from purchasing this book. I HIGHLY recommend!

Throw out the internet and pick up this book. Angie Asche’s book “Fuel Your Body” is the proverbial “Holy Grail” of this genre! Not only does she write in layman’s terms (even though her intellectual prowess far exceeds the verbiage she chooses to write with), she also goes out of her way to demystify the commonly misunderstood relationships between macronutrients….even providing plant based options vs. omnivore options, while demonizing neither. One of the key take-aways you’ll instantly notice about her book is the lack of the commercialized feel that many sports and nutrition books espouse. This subtlety keeps you far away from the idea that you’re being sold something later on!She makes no overt effort to put herself in the spotlight; instead helps the reader delineate where they themselves stand in the spectrum of fitness and sports nutrition. It’s her obvious intention to educate the reader…and when the reader is armed with that knowledge of their personal basal metabolic rate plus their activity level, they then can incorporate some or all of her recipes (and portion recommendations) to help people achieve their personal goals. The recipes are designed with a regular person in mind. However, some of these dishes have a very gourmet feel to them without complex ingredients or instructions (which in my opinion is designed to help those of us who are afraid of the kitchen overcome those fears!) Additionally, anyone purchasing this book will notice the variety, making the 77 recipes easily repeatable as the year progresses. In a nutshell, I believe the information contained in Fuel Your Body is relevant to essentially anyone looking to gain valid, lifelong, insight into what the human body needs to thrive…and perform at its peak!

So impressed with the contents of this cookbook. This book really does cover everything. I thought it was only going to be recipes, but the first part of the book is all very educational. It covers important nutrition topics in a way that’s really easy for people of all ages to understand. I especially love the visuals. It includes recipes for both plant-based eaters and people who eat meat (which works great for our family). I am so impressed with the contents of this book, it’s been fascinating to read through. I highly, highly recommend!!

Great info on improving performance, recipes a little bland. I bought this book after following the author on Instagram for over a year. I’m someone who trains at the gym 5-6 days a week and am looking to improve my performance and overall health through food. I also want to eat less meat overall while still seeing muscle growth. As someone who cooks often and enjoys cooking, found the recipes in the book underwhelming and slightly bland. However, I think that they are highly accessible for someone who is just starting out in the kitchen and I also think that they are easy to build on for someone more experienced. I also bought the book mainly to read what Asche had to say about food in relation to performance, building meals, and balancing macronutrients. The book did not disappoint. I left with a better understanding of how different nutrients (macro and micro) support the body, and great ideas on how to get them into my diet on a day to day basis. Overall, a good buy.
