  1. Reaches High Limbs for Pruning or Sawing. This is longer than 12′. It is about 8′ long and extends to about 15′. It is the Fiskars quality I know from their amazing scissors. It is fairly light for its size. The pruner is sharp and easily cuts 1″ or smaller branches. It will cut up to about 2″, but over 1″ takes a lot more force and strength. If you only want to prune smaller branches, then don’t install the saw. With the saw attached, it is more difficult to place the pruning hook. The saw works well. It has been outside in the rain for several days and is still bright and shiny stainless. I’ve cut up to 6″ limbs with it overhead, but that size limb takes about 20 minutes to cut. Smaller limbs cut through in a few minutes with the super sharp saw.The adjusting mechanism is very easy to use. There is a collar that locks the pole to length. Once the collar is released, you can press a button to slide the extension in or out. There are 3 extension holes that make it about 10′, 12′, and 15′ at its longest. Release the button and slide the extension until it clicks. Then close the collar and start cutting. It is more difficult to stabilize at the longer settings. The pruning rope extends about 2′ longer than the pole at it greatest length. It’s better to only prune 1″ or smaller branches when it is fully extended, because the force needed for larger branches cause a bow in the device while pulling the cord. There were some issues with the pruning head cord coming off the rollers from branch contact. It was easy to correct by hand. I left the saw attached (held on by a single wingnut), but I think there would be less cord issues without the saw.I’m very pleased with this pole saw and I’m so happy that I didn’t get the multi-piece long saws after seeing how they come apart. I highly recommend this pole saw/pruner from Fiskars.UPDATE: Still 5 stars! I’ve used this pole saw a lot. The pruning cord can get tangled at shorter lengths, but is easy to manage by hold the cord on the handle during use. I love this pole saw and it has done everything I needed with high branches!

It works – tested it immediately upon receipt. We have a willow style tree which overhangs our patio. Lately it’s started to look like a kid with an unruly hairdo who hasn’t seen a barber or stylist in a long while. A few scaggly branches popping out here and there. It seems less than ideal – not to mention due to it’s height, not possible – to really use a ladder effectively with a trimmer or lopper in hand. So pole lopper/saw it is.After looking at a lot of reviews and specs – this Fiskars model hits the right mix of features (length and cutting capability) for a good price. The model I purchased extends from 7′ – 16′ and has the “chain drive”.Overall the tool seems sturdy – time will tell. The fiberglass pole is striking a nice balance between weight and strength and reach. The tool head with lopper worked fine to nip thru 3 branches that were just a bit over 1″ in diameter (thickness). I have not yet tested the saw – other than to remove the blade while using the lopper. When fixing the saw for use – you undo a single wingnut and align a support hole with a nub on the tool head and the hole for the bolt for the wing nut to (re)secure the saw. It would be nice if they’d include a second nub so you could secure the blade to the tool while it’s not in use and not worry that it could slide out of position.Overall I’m happy with the price/performance – it made easy work of the test branches on the willow over the patio – requiring not too much strength to pull the rope for the lopper. It’s a bit unwieldy but extended to 12 or 16 feet that’s to be expected. Time will tell about the durability – but I have a weekend coming up soon to do some trimming on a number of trees around my property.

  5. Super effective tool for tree trimming. Received it last night and used this this morning. Came completely assembled. Be careful getting the blade side out of its blister packaging. The packaging can be sharp.Light enough to be held by one hand while the other works the pruner. The saw is a traditional manual pole saw for tree branches. I was able to use the pruning head for branches up to 1.25 inches (as advertised). It cuts through branches like butter. The chain gear makes for a smooth cut. There is literally no wobble when fully extended. Locks up tight. It does get heavy after 30 minutes of usage at full extension. I would not recommend this for someone without the necessary upper body strength.Probably paid for itself 10x over with one extended use!

  6. A versatile tool, but not sturdy enough. It’s a very useful tool for tree trimming and other manipulations. This is a second item I bought, after the first one broke down. The branch clipper has large enough opening for thick branches, but the mechanism is not strong enough to cut through these large branches — the metal lever easily breaks. I wish it were sturdier.

  7. While all of the above are true, at 72 it was a bit much for me eventhough I am still quite active. Through no fault of the device itself, I have found that this aged workman was bested by the job. Standing, looking up and maneuvering amongst the branches was harder than I thought it would be. I advise my fellow aged dabblers to just do a little at a time. It is a wonderful contraption that kept me off of ladders that I used to use every day but cannot now.

  8. Not really much to say, its a fiskars product and works great. Well engineered and made.

  15. Awesome Reach & Power. I had been going back and forth between getting this pole saw or a slightly shorter one, and I’m so glad I went with this. Being able to reach REAL high into a tree has opened up a lot more pruning possibilities for me to keep the trees on my 3-acre property much healthier and open up some of the canopy for better sight lines and airflow. The chain drive lopper can get through some SERIOUS stuff, and anything it can’t means it’s thick enough to saw without bending out of the way, and the blade with the hook at the end DOES actually make it a lot easier to stay in the groove which I was curious about but am definitely sold on now.The Woodzig saw blade itself is wicked sharp, and even after using it for a couple months – it doesn’t show any sign of wear or decrease in sharpness.Extending the pole takes a little getting used to, but with some practice it becomes quick and easy.My only complaint is with such a long pole length, the cord on the lopper needs to be quite long too so you can reach and use it when it’s fully extended, and there isn’t a great way to hold/store all of it, so sometimes that dangles around and gets caught on things if it’s not coiled up and being held together out of the way.Overall I absolutely love this thing – a great addition to the lawn tool arsenal!

  16. Fiscars 7′ – 16′ Pole Saw with 1.25″ Chain Drive Pruning Shear. Excellent product. Excellent value. This is my second one. My only concern is the strength of the (telescoping) extension tubes. This Pole Saw cannot withstand any sudden impact with the ground, should you be trimming a larger diameter, higher, heavier branch that suddenly comes crashing to the ground. To be clear, this is a very well engineered tree pruning, tree trimming device. I absolutely have loved mine. You have to sort of “know when to say when” in not becoming too greedy in bringing down those extremely high, extremely large branches. Having said that, I’ve been able to repair my Fiscars Pole Saw three times now by simply (carefully) cutting the damaged telescoping tubes and (carefully) redrilling new fastener and height adjustment holes, as necessary depending on the needed repair. Also the chaindrive pruning hook tool is fantastic! It provides additional mechanical leverage for pulling down the pruning mechanism rope. Very, very effective tool. Just know that the higher you trim (saw) branches, the greater the odds you will damage this Fiscars Pole Saw. In many instances, however, it can actually be repaired (“repurposed”) again, although you will likely have less overall height. Regardless, this is a very good value for the price. Lastly ONLY use this Pole Saw when standing on the ground. That’s a basic safety thing that even this “greedy” Fiscars Pole Saw amateur user strongly advises. I am grateful for this product. It immediately opened up additional capability for me as a DIY customer. I know there are other (Commercial Grade) Pole Saw Pruning Tools. This Fiscars tool has more than met my needs. It adjusts well…adjusts easily, provided the tubing has not been bent. I have trimmed branches up to 25 feet high with this fully extended Fiscars Pole Saw. I’ve learned to have more reasonable expectations of the tool, while still appreciating its capabilities, particularly from an amateur / home owner perspective. The saw blade is magnificent. It is best utilized by having both feet firmly planted on the ground.

  19. VERY easy to extend/collapse as needed and cuts smoothly. There is a lot to like about this tool and even more when you consider the price. Short version: you will love the ease of use and you will be very happy with your purchase. The best part is the pole & extension mechanism. Flip the latch, push a button, slide the pole, lock it down, and you are ready to go in a matter of seconds. The pole is pretty stiff and light enough for the home gardener. I had a minor issue with one button, after the first few uses, it jammed and wouldn’t drop into the holes any longer. I extended the pole and banged that section like I was trying to pull the pole apart. That popped the button loose and it has been fine since. To avoid this, I suggest pushing the button, moving the pole an inch or so, release the button, and slide the pole to the next stop hole. You can repeat that process as many times as needed before locking it down. This approach has kept everything working smoothly. The branch cutter is easy to use and very sharp; it will easily cut a 1″ branch. The chain drive is solid and reliable. The cord is long enough to use the cutter when the pole is fully extended. The saw is sharp and has a hook at the end, very handy for pulling down twigs and deadwood. There is a significant curve to the sawblade. This can make it a little difficult to use when you can only get to the branch from the side (not the top); the curve makes the saw want to cut very aggressively causing it to hang up some when used at extension. On the plus side, the curve keeps the blade aligned with the rest of the pole, improving maneuverability.

  20. Works Grate. Works great even fully extended bot the saw and the pruner… very stable
