Good value, easy to use. Let me start with what I don’t like. You can’t buy trays. I tried to contact the manufacturer. Temperature control isn’t very accurate unless you leave the unit in a cabinet or something.Overall this thing is good value and works well. I use my own temp gauge inside to monitor temp and humidity for drying 3D printing filaments. You of course will have to cut out the center of the trays to fit a spool in there. I recommend a dremel or similar as cutting it is pretty sketchy. It shatters pretty sporadically (I think it’s acrylic?), but a dremel works well. After significant use it started making a lot of noise and I thought the bearing was going bad. Turned out when I took it apart that some heat tape was coming unstuck and contacting the fan blades like a playing card in a bicycle tire, so no big deal, I cut that piece off.All in all, Works pretty good, especially for the price.
Fabulous. This little machine is so straightforward to use! I’ve had it just over 24 hours, and so far have dehydrated pear (delicious), apple, strawberries, bananas and, of course, sweet potatoes for my dogs! I don’t know why I waited so long to buy a dehydrator . It’s not only fun to use, but dehydrated fruits are a much better snack than chips or cookies. The machine is quiet, doesn’t heat up my kitchen, the trays are dishwasher safe…..Bottom line: get this machine. You won’t regret it!***Update***Seriously, get this dehydrator! I’ve stopped buying snacks because nothing beats beautifully sliced dried apple slices, or dehydrated sliced tomatoes (what a surprise those were: sweet and tasty), instead of chips or cookies. And the dried sweet potatoes? My dogs give them a “10” out of 10 for chewing and taste! This dehydrator has already paid for itself!—————————————————Update 8/2/23This dehydrator has more than paid for itself, including the cost of food and electricity! I’ve saved so much money making all natural dog snacks, and that includes dried chicken and beef.I can’t say enough about how great this machine is. Next month I’ll be trying fruit rollups.Every kitchen should have one!
Great dryer for 3D Filament. This unit works well as a 3D Filament dryer. With the five shelves fully extended there is ample room to stack to 1K roles to dry concurrently. It was simple to use flush cutters to snip out the center of each of the shelves. I kept the mesh in one of the shelves allowing to place .5kg roles and desiccant packets. The temperature control was directly close, but not precise. I printed a bracket for holding a hygrometer for tuning in the temperature and confirming the humidity (before and after). I reached out about purchasing additional shelves, but was disappointed that 4 aftermarket shelves costs more than a new unit. Obviously they don’t want to sell aftermarket shelves.NOTE: The shelves can be rotated to increase the height of the stack. I didn’t realize at first, rather I discovered when I removed and replaced each shelf for snipping out the shelf mesh.
A Beginner’s Perspective. I recently decided to try my hand at food dehydration and picked up the Elite Gourmet EFD319BNG Food Dehydrator. As a total newbie to this whole process, I’ve been pleasantly surprised by how well this device seems to work.First off, setting up the dehydrator was a breeze. It came with clear instructions, and I didn’t have to spend hours trying to figure out how to put it together. It’s nice to start on the right foot without any frustrations.Using it was pretty straightforward too. I just sliced up some fruits and veggies, placed them on the trays, and adjusted the temperature and timer settings based on the included guide. I had some doubts about whether I was doing it right, but the dehydrator’s simple controls put my mind at ease.I was a bit skeptical about how well it would actually dehydrate the food, but I was genuinely surprised by the results. After a few hours, my fruits and veggies transformed into crispy, flavorful snacks that were a hit with my family. It was like magic – I couldn’t believe I had made them myself!Cleaning up was also easier than I expected. The trays and lid were dishwasher-safe, so I didn’t have to spend ages scrubbing them by hand. That’s a big plus in my book. The only reason I’m not giving this dehydrator a full 5 stars is that I don’t have anything to compare it to. Since I’ve never used a food dehydrator before, I can’t say for sure if this is the best one out there. But based on my experience, it seems to do a pretty good job, and I’m excited to keep experimenting with it.In conclusion, the Elite Gourmet EFD319BNG Food Dehydrator has made my first foray into food dehydration surprisingly enjoyable and successful. It’s user-friendly, produces tasty results, and doesn’t require a ton of effort to clean up. While I’m still a newbie in this world, this dehydrator seems like a solid choice for anyone looking to try out food dehydration for the first time.
Fiddly but Good Deal for Price. I had a bumper crop of all sorts of tomatoes and decided to get on the dehydrator train and see if I could put some aside for cooking later. The dehydrator price is so low (imho) that I thought it couldn’t possibly be any good but… I’m relatively pleased with it. I don’t like the temp controls for two reasons: 1) I wish companies would stop using a small bump or arrow on a black dial, making it virtually impossible to see the setting. 2) this dehydrator has three temp ranges, not a specific temp you dial in. You want 135º for your use, nope, gotta guesstimate that on the black on black dial. It does do the job. The trays are not easy to clean but not terribly hard. Easy to access, but of course the food sticks in the holes in the trays. The biggest bummer is the stacking arrangement. The trays a fiddly to set and to adjust, not impossible, just a bit of a pain. After all that you might wonder if I’d buy it again, and yes, I would. The price compensates for the little things that bug me. 😀
good starter food dehydrator for the money. good starter food dehydrator for the money. I’ve used a Excalibur food dehydrator in my past life (but lost it in the divorce), what I can say is that this product doesn’t have the same room but does the same job for less money. fill your trays with sliced thin fruit, or veggies and run it on high temp for 24-30 hours and your good to go. Use this product with a vacuum sealer and your food will stay fresh for months. Thanks for reading my review, have a good one! -Mike
Durability. It is smaller than the previous dehydrator that I have. I have been using the older one to accommodate for the amount I usually use.
Nice dehydration. The machine is very nice. It works perfectly and I made chicken jerky for my dog. It was very easy. The trays are nice it’s easy to clean quiet. I had one like this years ago. And loved it and used it often. I have almost my culinary degree. My daughter is a personal chef. It arrived on time and it is good. I do like it a lot. I moved years ago so I didn’t have my dehydrator and I wasn’t sure I wanted to replace it but after getting it again I remember how much I missed it. It litterally pays for itself in a couple uses. Last year I bought dehydrator fruits as a gift. This machine I can make the fruits myself for presents. I cook for the police and fire department as gifts. This is chef quality product. Thank you. With my dog it cost like 11 dollars for a page of treats. I can get a whole tray of chicken for 15 dollars and have like 88 dollars of treats for that much. The savings is unreal. The quietness of the sound of the machine is perfect. It gives a white noise background which is very nice. I highly recommend. But there is no buzzer as far as I can see. The person using this divise will have to turn it off. You have the responsibility to turn off the machine after five or 6 hours. So it is for an adult.

Overall I really like it. I’m new to dehydrating and needed a “starter” unit. I’ve used it about a half dozen times now, for vegetables/herbs (peppers, carrots, snap peas, basil). It seems well built, and does the job. It generally takes longer than the manual says, but that seems to vary a lot based on how the food is prepared (e.g. size of pieces, blanched vs, not, etc). So far the size seems adequate, for example it was able to do 13 bell peppers (cut into 8 strips per pepper) using 3 of the 5 trays. My impressions:Pros:- Compact yet holds a good amount. The grid on the trays was tight enough that nothing fell through even cut up fairly small.- Feels sturdy. Trays stack solidly in either high or low position, and have shown no sign of wear so far- Easy to clean. I quickly wiped rinsed trays after use, but to be honest nothing stuck to the trays and I didn’t even feel a rinse was necessary.- Did what it needed to do. Would have liked it to be faster, but I get the feeling that’s the nature of the beast with non-commercial dehydrators.Cons:- I think the highest I was able to get the temp was about 140F, I don’t feel like it can reach its supposed max of 158F.- The actual temperature it reached didn’t usually match the set temp, and seemed to vary a lot, perhaps based on the number of trays, amount of food, etc. I would say you pretty much need a thermometer (preferably a point and shoot laser one) and do some trial and error to be able to properly manage the temp on this thing- The “dot” on the temp knob that shows you what temp you are setting is extremely hard to see. I fixed this by applying a dab of white nail polish.Overall, I would recommend it if you are someone who dehydrates occasionally in moderate amounts

Easy to use; makes both great tropical trail mix and jerky. I was a little intimidated about using a food dehydrator as I have never used one. This dehydrator is very simple to use. I’ve now made both tropical trail mix from fresh fruit (papaya, banana, mango) and also beef + salmon jerky in it. Both were simple to make and I was able to adjust the temperature quickly for the trail mix. The manual said to experiment with the machine to find what works for you. Even though I live in a dry climate I found it about 12 hours to fully dehydrate the tropical fruits because of the liquid content and actually recommend dehydrating 6 hours then leave it out overnight to let it naturally dry some then do the rest of the 6 hours the next day; both days I found it dehyrates faster using the low position of the tray. For the jerky I found it dehydrated fast (1 hour total for the beef & 30 minutes for the salmon) on both the beef and salmon if I smoked it in a barbecue first, which also gave it a more complex flavor.
Works great. Someone stole mine when I moved years ago. I really wanted to make my own jerky again and it does a great job. I’ve also made dried cranberries for salads. I’m hoping to do jerky for my dog next.
Powerful and has lots of room. Dry herbs for salts and powders. Worth its weight in gold when drying fruits for teas.
Good. A great dryer for vegetables, berries and meat! This dryer turned out to be ideal for cooking homemade preparations. It dries the products quickly and evenly, preserving their taste and useful properties. Easy to use and clean.
Great value. Very easy to use. Didn’t take my long to get perfect jerky. Easy to wash. Quality is amazing. Size is perfect. Worth the money.
Works well. The trays feel a bit flimsy but they stack well, just don’t abuse the poor thing and it will last well. It’s works for everything I have put in it: meat, veggies, fruit, mushrooms, etc. all turned out great! Comes with a guide book for various foods as well. I just put the items in at night and it’s done in the morning for most things. Fairly quiet, but occasionally it beeps.Decent size and I like that you can choose how many layers to add so it doesn’t feel like you’re wasting space. This is the first one I have ever owned and I have been delightfully pleased with it, but that also means I have nothing to compare it with. For a noob, I’m pretty happy!
Elite Gourmet EFD319 Food Dehydrator. Dehydrator works amazing. Dries well. Heats at a good temp . Timer . Noise is low . Easy to use
Dehydrating food is fun, easy and it saves money by preventing wasting food (not eaten fast enough). This dehydrator is so easy to use that I went from wondering how to use it to wondering how I could get it wrong. I have sliced up apples, bananas, and strawberries and coated them with lemon juice and put them into the dehydrator. They taste great and the hamsters like having a steady supply of treats. Anything explicitly marketed for pets seems to cost a lot more and I can control what goes in their mouths.
Works great. I haven’t had a dehydrator in a few years but recently I’ve been growing a lot of herbs hydroponically. I needed something that I could dry the herbs on, as well as excess fruit. So far it has worked great. I haven’t tried making jerky yet, but that’s on the list. This has 5 trays that are semi adjustable. If you just set the trays on top of each other, there is enough room for most herbs to dry. If you set them with the teeth lined up, then there’s more room. Sufficient for most fruits and likely meat for jerky. I’ve dried several different herbs, apple and pineapple. I would recommend getting some mesh inserts if you’re going to be drying herbs, especially herbs like Dill. The grate for each tray aren’t too big but smaller herbs will fall through without an insert.Overall I’ve been happy with it for what we use it for.
