Great yard and garden tool. I was a bit surprised to see this tool being sold by Dewalt. Until recently it seemed that none of the large volume tool companies wanted to sell cordless pruners. I was guessing they didn’t want the liability when people chop their fingers off with the things (which is not hard to do if you’re careless). I purchased a pretty nice one a few years ago, brand name that’s difficult to spell and I wouldn’t even attempt to pronounce. But a nice tool. Then I saw this one from Dewalt, I have lots of their 20v cordless tools, so it made sense to buy it. Aside from being pretty heavy for a hand pruner, it’s just as great as I expected. If you have a large yard, or lots of trees or bushes to maintain, you need this tool. You’ll throw away all those hand pruners after using this cordless powered one. If you already have Dewalt 20v batteries and chargers, it’s an awesome addition to your tool set. It seems to run a very long time before it needs charging, so I would avoid the weight of a heavy battery and just use one of the small 2 AH lithium batteries. Very highly recommended – just keep those fingers on the other hand away from the blade!
GREAT! HUGE TIME AND ENERGY SAVER. I have several wooded acers I mow and spend a lot of time dodging low hanging limbs and branches while doing so. This adds a lot of time to my mowing, What would have taken me a week to do with old manual lopping shears and a hand saw I was able to do in one long day with these Dewalt shears. Super easy to use one handed and will cut up to a 1.5″ branch with a few bites at it, anything about 1″ down is a quick and easy cut. Some of use know that as we get older we don’t recover like we use to from long days of yardwork and using big old lopping shears for a few days would have worn me out, but with these shears just pull of the trigger and snip the branch or limb is off. I don’t know how long these have been around but I wish I had gotten them a long time ago it would have saved me a whole lot of shoulder and back pain and made my yard work go a lot faster.. Get them, it’s one one tool that I can say was worth every penny I spent.
Dewalt hit the bullseye with this pruner. I got this a few days ago. It does a tremendous job and it uses very little Battery. I believe that a good tool should make the job easier and make the job safer. This does both. It is so much faster than my hand pruners. It is easier to use and does a better job. I was also using a Dewalt battery powered chain saw to trim branches. It is safe, but this tool is far safer and it makes a much cleaner cut. I can cut the limb perfectly. Many times that was hard with a chain saw. You can cut from a wide variety of angles. These pruners are designed in such a way that if you hurt yourself you should not be using any power toolsI cut limbs that were up to at least an inch think. If it didn’t cut through on the first cut you pull the trigger again.Hope this helps
DEWALT 20V MAX Pruning Shear (DCPR320B). These are the perfect pruning shears (according to my wife). What I mean by that, is none of us are getting any younger. The hands are not what they used to be. My wife would struggle with manual shears, so I picked these up for her. I’m the hero (at least for day). She is very pleased with these. We use the smaller 2-Amp battery to help keep the weight down. Even with the smaller battery, these last a very long time, days even, before needing to charge. These perform exactly as advertised. Effortless. If you have a lot of garden pruning, small tree pruning, etc, invest in these. You will not be disappointed.
Amazing power and efficiency. I already had the Dewalt batteries for other tools, so the battery life is less relevant.I had a large amount of snow damage (4.5 feet at one point but it didn’t stop for weeks) in the Sierra foothills. This tool made the cleanup much easier. It cuts so well that I primarily cut branches into small pieces for the green bin. I had hauled some branches to free green waste days, but the wait in line was very long. After I got this tool, I realized that cutting up the same number of branches into small pieces for the green bin was much faster and more efficient. In combination with the trash bin, I’ve made great progress since Mid July 2023. I notice that it heats up a bit, but that usually happens around break time. I got a little handheld battery chainsaw, but his does largely the same job with a fraction of the effort.I’m sure that this tool would be great for ordinary yard work when I’m done with the disaster cleanup. I’ve been sold on Dewalt battery tools. I like being able to use a tool at my whim, rather than when I get the damn thing started (anything with gasoline) or drag out the 50ft extension cord (for any corded tools like blowers). When I bought a generator for power company blackouts I bought one that used gas or propane, but I’ve only used propane and have no starting issues.Yes, its dangerous as hell, but way worth it. You just have to be careful.PS It’s lots of fun
Saved my hands from manual pruning. I have Dupuytren contracture in both hands (worse in my right). Using a manual pruner and loppers on my five mature fruit trees (2 cherry, 2 pear, 1 peach to give idea of branch diameters) became too painful. The DeWalt power pruner is a great solution because of its speed and ease of use. Of note, the first time I used it for a considerable length of time, the pruner stopped working in the middle of a cut. I realized it was because the battery power was too low. I bought two DeWalt 20V 2AH batteries to maintain power and to keep the pruner as lightweight as possible. One of the best power tools I have bought. Having a professional pruner work on my five fruit trees was going to cost $1100 (NO THANKS “Tree Works”). This tool and 2 batteries more than paid for itself in one season, and pruning is still possible for me. Blade can be resharpened too.
Should have got this sooner. This thing is amazing. It’s very strong and makes pruning super fast and easy. We have some bradford pear trees in our backyard that have large branches fall off a few times a year. I use this thing to chop up the branches into a 35gallon trash bag. It’s so easy to take a giant branch and chop it into tiny pieces. Just be careful of the snippers, every time I use this I remind myself that this will cut my finger off without even straining.
Now my GO TO tool. My son bought this tool for me as a gift as I have several on the 20V platform. This tool has quickly become by GO TO pruning tool. To tool is light and easy to operate with one hand leaving my other hand free for complete control. The blades are set up well and can easily slice through thick stems and limbs and it can go all day on a well charged battery.
Fantastic Tool. I’ve looked at similar tools to this, but never purchased one. What really sold on it is the Dewalt name, As I already have Quite a few DeWalt tools and the batteries to go with them it fits right in.Originally, I primarily bought this for my wife, but since I got it, I have used it like mad on all my guarding projects and it has been Very efficient and a great time saver,I have used it to trim trees, trim, branches, and it will go through some serious width branches probably even a bit more than it was designed for, but it works. One major thing it has over simple manual shears is fatigue on your wrist and hand. All of that disappears with this and you can do a whole lot more work in the same timeframe. I used it one day from early in the morning until late in the afternoon with hundreds if not thousands of cuts and it was still going strong on the same battery. The thing seems to go through everything. I even used it to trim some PVC pipe. With that in mind, my only caution about this is that yes it goes through EVERYTHING you need to be extremely careful where your support hand is and not get any of your fingers in the way. With a handheld manual clipper if you happen to get your hand or finger in the way, you could feel it and stop. This will not, it’ll just go through whatever is in its jaw. I had one very close call where I got a little too close and it took off the tip of my glove thankfully, my finger wasn’t in it, but it taught me a very valuable lesson about keeping your support hand clear.I did read in another review someone commented on the blade being chipped or damaged. After a couple days of very hard use, yes the blade was was chipped and had definite signs of use. I purchased an additional blade swapped it out. I put the original blade in my vice and took a file to it, and it came out. Perfect all ready to go again. I highly recommend buying that second blade so you can swap it out as I did.Great overall tool and I wish I had had it years ago.
Works great. Very easy to operate and sharp
Works better than expected. This is the best garden tool in the shed! Easy to use, cuts just about anything in the yard. Well built. Fun to use too, made me trim up a bunch of overgrowth I was dreading. My only gripe is for the price they should include an extra blade for the price.

Worth every penny. Has to be one of the best dewalt tools I own! Works amazing on blackberry bushes. And sips power used the battery for half a day of clearing blackberries only dropped 1 bar.
These are the best. This is my second set of DEWALT pruners. After 2 years of constant use I wore my first pair out. I have had surgery on both wrists so to find these allowed me to do what I love. The battery lasts a long time. You exert zero pressure from your hands the machine does it all. The blades are heavy metal and cut thru the decorative grasses, rose bushes, Crepe Myrtle’s, it will also cut small branches from trees, dead flowers, just about anything in your garden.
Real useful tool. Does a super job clearing brush. Snips through small limbs in a heartbeat. Wife wanted one of those mini hand held chainsaws. I said No Way! I could see her slicing up a hand or clipping her thigh and then bleeding out before I could get medical attention. These cutters have blades away from hands. Handle is easy for her to grab and control. It’s quick and she really likes it.
