***UPDATED 6/27/19 with some measurements***Very pleased with performance and design quality. So far I’ve done about six full batches including apple, pear, strawberry, tomato, and asparagus. All seemed to take a bit longer than my dehydration handbook but that is not a cause for concern.I tested the interior temperature with an instant read thermometer. From a cold start, the temperature rose above the set point but settled within an hour or so. Again, no concern. After settling, the unit seemed to hold the set point temperature quite accurately. So far, no messes to clean inside, but it appears that it would be easy enough to clean. I do have to soak the wire racks for a bit after doing strawberries. I think the heavy sugar content causes small bits of berry to stick.I would not call the fan quiet, however. When it’s running, it’s noise is like white noise, fading from noticeable to being part of the ambient room noise. So far it has never become irritating.Years ago we owned a low-price, air-from-the-bottom style unit. I was never impressed by either the design quality or the resulting dry product. Like many fad purchases, it’s use rapidly diminished and it was relegated to basement storage, and eventually a donation to Goodwill Industries. This unit has more promise to be more heavily used during the summer months when produce prices are lowest. However, I think this will go in storage for the rest of the year, due to its size on the countertop.I would recommend it to friends. I would not buy it again because I expect this one to last as long as I need it.********UPDATE June 27, 2019*******I had a chance today to do a little performance testing on electric usage. For purposes of the test there was no food used. The cabinet contained only a remote, instant read thermometer. When the heating element and fan are on, the unit draws about 615 watts. When only the fan is on, it draws about 20 watts. When testing with no food, the inside temperature cycles between 132 deg. F and 145 deg. F when the unit is set for a drying temp of 135. So your average temp while drying will be perhaps 5 deg. higher than expected. For me, no big deal. I can either live with it or set the temp 5 deg. low.My next test involved drying tomatoes. I used Campari brand “on the vine”. These fruits are about 1”-1.5” in diameter, so were quartered. Some “rogue” sizes were cut into 1/5ths or 1/6ths to try for size uniformity.Campari’s are available at my local Costco in 2 lb. packages and my local Aldi in 1 lb. Your local stores may not carry the brand. I like those a lot because of their uniform size and ripeness. My first1/2 batch turned out beautifully, with very intense flavor. Because I do not core these tomatoes (much too small to bother) my drying time is probably longer. The first batch took about 18 hours, but with two interruptions during the process.I’ve started the second batch today – a full 6-trays, holding 8 lbs. of fruit. They will be taking about 15 more hours but I can relate a couple of observations. First, I started with a pre-heat of 135 deg. About 10 minutes into the “cook”, the temp had fallen to about 95 deg. It slowly began to work its way back up. I was not surprised by this, since the physics of dehydration dictates that energy is used by evaporating water. The fruit was at its wettest at the beginning, of course. After two hours of drying, the temp inside the box is up to 117 deg.Secondly, I did a review of the electric usage about 30 minutes in. Interestingly, the usage dropped from about 615 watts to around 15-20 watts for several seconds EVERY TWO MINUTES. My guess this is either a safety measure or a longevity issue for the heating element. With the internal box temperature not yet at the set temperature, I did not see the temperature cycling that I saw in the early, empty box test.I shall post more significant observations in the future, as warranted.

  2. A Very Solid Dehydrator with Great Capacity. I got this for Christmas 2022 and love it. I would get this one again if I had to do it over. I originally had the large Excalibur but decided I didn’t like all the plastic and the resulting flimsiness (damaged in shipping) so exchanged it for this one (the 10-tray) and like having the metal much better. Pros: 1) Very generous drying capacity, which comes in handy during harvest time. 2) Temperature control and range – I don’t know that I will ever need down to the degree, but every 5 degrees is great, and I can do everything from delicate herbs to jerky if I want. 3) The air circulation system does seem to dehydrate better than the circular Oster model I was given just to see if I liked dehydrating. 4) The glass door is nice to keep a general eye on progress. Cons: 1) The trays are fairly close together, which may restrict airflow somewhat, so I start out loading every other tray but typically wind up using most or all of the trays. I also try to skip completely the top and bottom trays due to their proximity to the top and bottom of the interior. 2) It only came with one fruit roll sheet and one mesh tray – both hard plastic. The hard plastic fruit roll sheet is great to put under the lowest tray to catch drips and bits and pieces. I’ve never used the hard plastic mesh tray yet. I did order and love the flexible silicone mesh mats and fruit trays. The flexibility of these makes getting dehydrated foods off of them much easier, and they wash up fairly easily. 3) It certainly isn’t cheap, especially after you add on the cost of buying the extra mesh and fruit roll sheets. I love this dehydrator, but it’s a significant investment; I suggest if you are new to dehydrating, see if you can borrow or find a basic, small dehydrator to find out if dehydrating is useful and something you want to continue doing. I started out with a $40 Oster basic model without hardly any bells and whistles but was able to determine investing in a really nice dehydrator would be worthwhile for me. Things to consider generally: 1) This sucker takes up a LOT of room! It was way too big to fit on our kitchen countertop and under the upper cabinets with enough clearance for airflow, which is important. We wound up putting it on a large, sturdy stainless steel utility cart (and up on bricks to give clearance for the dehydrator door to open) I purchased years ago from Sam’s Club for my office (I think it’s still available). 2) It will put out some heat (welcome in the winter but not so much in the summer, lol, as we don’t do air co) and doesn’t run completely silent (but not bad). 3) Think about how much drying space you realistically need in a dehydrator. There’s a 6-tray model that you should look at if you don’t need quite as much. 4) You will probably need to condition whatever you dehydrate. It’s a process, and you need to educate yourself on how to do this safely! 5) Think about other food preservation methods (e.g., water bath or pressure canning) and how long you need your food to stay good in storage and how you would use dehydrated foods 6) Join a FB dehydrating group or two for education, great tips, recipes, and community feeling. I have a favorite page that I rely heavily on. Happy dehydrating!

Dried apricots almost as nicely as the sun. I had picked my apricots to prevent squirrels and birds from getting the fruits of my labors. I didn’t have time to make jam so I decided to dry my apricots. My first batch was sun-dried on racks (placed on the concrete RV pad next to the house due to the unusually high temps [100+] and low humidity [15%]). But then the weather cooled and I couldn’t risk rain on my apricots, so I purchased the dehydrator. This batch took about as long (17 hours of constant 140 degrees) but the apricots turned a dark color. They taste fine but they don’t look as nice as the sun-dried ones. I will have to do the next batch using more lemon juice.I took a star off because the directions basically leave it to you to figure out temperature and time. Trial and error .. I had to restart the apricots twice. First I ran it for 12 hours at 140 (which is what I thought my sun-dried apricots had needed. Apricots were still too moist so I restarted another 5 hours. I probably could have left them for another 2 hours on top of that, but we were leaving the house, so I just turned them off. I left them out overnight in the kitchen and the next morning I put them all in ziplocks. Weeks later, still yummy! I also vacuum-sealed about half the batch.

  4. GREAT Dehydrator & GREAT Price. I’ve had the high-priced food dehydrators, and they died on me…some within minutes of being taken out of the box.Being once bitten and twice shy, I opted to go with a cheaper dehydrator with the hope that I’d get a month or two out of it.This food dehydrator is such a nice surprise! It’s compactIt’s relatively quiet. It’s easy to operate and programIt actually worksThe trays are stainless steelIt has a glass door, so you can see what’s happening insideIt flashes the time and temp constantly, so there’s no guessing on how much time is leftYou can mute the beeps, if you’re so inclinedIt actually fit more than I thought it wouldTwo things:1: If you’re going to be dehydrating items that will be on the small side, you’ll probably want to buy the silicone tray “catchers,” which I think I’ll be purchasing for something like $15.2: It does vent the hot air into the room where it’s operating. This is not a big deal for me, but if you live somewhere where it’s hotter than the surface of the sun, you are going to need additional ventilation and air conditioning, but that would be true for ANY dehydrator. All in all, for HALF THE PRICE of the big daddy of food dehydrators (which I’ve purchased and had to return because the fuses needed to be replaced right out of the box), you would be hard pressed to beat this little gem.I. Am. Loving. It.

  5. Perfect in every way. This Cosori dehydrator is really easy to use. I have never dehydrated, and this machine has been fun and easy to use. My garden over produced, thankfully, this year and I needed another way besides canning to preserve my vegetables. I bought this Cosori dehydrator after watching reviews for it on youtube. It is and does everything that it is advertised as doing. I especially love how quiet it is since it is in the room next to the tv. It has dried everything very evenly and efficiently. I will highly recommend this Corsori dehydrator to my family members and friends.

  6. Frank Faulkenberg September 9, 2023 at 12:00 am

Worth every penny. I purchased this dehydrator November of 2020, it is now September of 2023, so basically a 3 year review. This dehydrator has done everything asked of it, no issues whatsoever. It has dehydrated over 100 pounds of deer and elk jerkey, has dehydrated salmon jerkey, banana slices, pears, apples, and kiwi. This is a great no thrills appliance that looks sleek as well. Doesn’t take up too much space, but yet is the perfect size to do a 5 lb batch of jerkey. If anything ever happens to it, I wouldn’t hesitate replacing it with the same exact brand and model. If I HAD to nitpick, the only negative is the timer only goes in increments of 30 minutes. It would be nice to have 15 minute increments. This is easily overcome with your phone timer.

  7. Great little dehydrator. This is my first food dehydrator. I researched different brands/styles and didn’t want anything with a lot of plastic. The dehydrator fits the bill with metal exterior and food trays. It is small – five trays – but is perfect for my needs. I keep jerky around for a quick protein snack, but the price of jerky is too high for the small quantity the consumer gets and most of the commercial jerky products contain sugar. I have been making my own beef jerky without all of the chemicals and sugar. Another favorite is bacon jerky, I have made several batches of that and it is fantastic. Everything I’ve made in it turns out perfect. The dehydrator is very quiet and easy to clean. The trays are dishwasher safe, but I prefer to soak and handwash them. I highly recommend this COSORI food dehydrator to anybody that needs a small, efficient dehydrator. I have found the quality of COSORI products to be excellent.

  8. Easy to use, works perfectly. I hardly EVER leave reviews, but this dehydrator is amazing. The recipes in the book are delicious, the quick guides with time, temps and basic instructions are sooo helpful. Nothing I have dehydrated sticks to the trays provided, they just rinse clean. My kids eat the cinnamon apple chips like it’s candy. I love this thing! We are all snacking WAY healthier on dried fruit and simple homemade jerkies.

  9. I like.the smaller size. I like this because it is not huge and doesn’t take up a lot of space. I only do smaller batches for one or two people anyways. I have used it twice already and made sun dried tomatoes one time and banana and apple chips the second time. I am very satisfied with the quality and its ease of function. It is very easy to add or subtract time, or readjust the temperature when using the four “auto” set buttons. It seems well made and looks attractive for an appliance. I like the stainless steel trays and metal (not plastic) housing. Above all it is not very loud…pretty quiet and just hear a unobtrusive fan blowing.

  10. worthwhile purchase. So far, I have used this Cosori to dehydrate 2 bags of apples, 1 bag of pears, a bunch of bananas, tomatoes and 2 bundles of parsley. The machine is very quiet and easy to program. It’s also easy to clean. It’s a little large but I still keep it on the kitchen counter. I looked up some prices for dehydrated foods (wow) and realize this appliance will pay for itself in no time…It’s so worth it. I love having these tasty and healthy snacks, knowing there are no food additives.

  11. Great product. It’s perfect for my needs and its compact size has proven to be great for my small kitchen. It runs quietly and heats evenly – it’s fully adjustable, both temperature and running time. Great product – my husband loves his jerky and my dogs love their healthy treats! 10/10!

  12. Awesome Buy. This dehydrator is affordable, looks great, easy to work, easy to clean. I couldnt be happier, we’ve been making jerky each week since we got it and cant get enough.

  13. This is awesome. Great product, very easy to use, to clean, dehydrates evenly, very pleased. If you’re looking for a good dehydrator like I was, there’s a lot out there, lots of good, bad reviews but this one is a great choice!! Just saying!

  14. Very Effective Dehydrator. My wife had an abundant garden this year and was struggling with how to prepare the items for storage. We purchased this dehydrator and it has been a complete game changer. She would shredd the food products and put in the dehydrator at 135 F for 12 hours … perfect every time. It makes minimal sound duration operation, and is very simple to operate and clean. I would purchase this product again without hesitation.

  15. Great product. Love this dehydrator, super easy and quiet to use.

  16. Excellent Dehydrator for Dog Treats and Snacks. The COSORI Food Dehydrator for Jerky is hands down one of the best kitchen appliances I’ve purchased in a while. I primarily use it to make dog treats, and it works flawlessly every time. The 176°F temperature control ensures that the treats are dehydrated perfectly, and the 5 stainless steel trays provide plenty of space for all the ingredients I need to dry. Whether I’m making meat jerky, fruit slices, or veggies, it handles everything with ease.I love the 4 presets, which make it super easy to select the right settings for different foods without having to guess. The 48-hour timer is also a great feature, giving me the flexibility to start a batch and have it ready whenever I need it. Plus, the recipe book included is a great bonus for trying out new ideas and recipes for both human snacks and pet treats. The design of the dehydrator is sleek and modern, and it’s very easy to clean, which I really appreciate. The stainless steel trays don’t retain any odors, and the whole unit is durable and built to last. It’s been a total game-changer for making healthy homemade dog treats that my pets absolutely love.If you’re looking for a high-quality dehydrator for making jerky, dog treats, or any other dried snacks, the COSORI Food Dehydrator is definitely the way to go. Highly recommend it!

  17. Perfect size to keep on the kitchen counter. I have been using this non-stop since I bought it. I’ve made jerky dried sweet potatoes, carrots, zucchini, yellow squash. Dog treats. It’s so easy just loaded up and turn it on. It’s quiet and gets the job done. Love it!

  18. Great dehydrator, thus far. I purchased the larger Cosori dehydrator. It has 10 shelves. I’m sure now that I didn’t need one nearly this large but I’m happy with it. It works great. Very easy to operate. Runs very quietly. I was very surprised that it was this quiet. I sliced up and marinated about 6 lbs of London broil and I only used 5 of the 10 shelves. Hahaha. Very nice steel shelves. This machine is a little too large for my countertop so I keep it on top of my chest freezer. I have used it four times so far and I can’t say anything bad about it. I love this machine. My jerky comes out perfect.

  19. Steven M. Ortega February 1, 2025 at 12:00 am

Exactly as expected and hoped for! Love it. Feels quality and looks sharp. I was initially attracted to this because it has a sleek, modern, minimal design made of quality materials – basically it’s not one of the white round plastic ones that looks meh, on the counter. This, however, looks about as sharp as a dehydrator could look sitting on my countertop. It is user friendly. Literally you probably don’t need to read the instructions it comes with, although handy. This was packaged right! The box corners protected with plastic triangles to prevent denting. Machine protected by styrofoam. They did it right.Machine works immediatly out the gate. I was dehydrating food within 30 min. So far I have dehydrated for 3 days different shifts. I have done strawberries, bananas and pineapples. The machine comes with a “recipe” book, which guides you to temperatures and times. This allows you to group similar time/temp fruits together on same round. Ultimately the trickiest part is just knowing when the fruit is done enough to store long term – as in, all the moisture is gone.Anyhow, I love this for what it is. I would recommend and purchase again.

  20. Good Dehydrator-Money Well Spent. I’ve wanted a dehydrator for a long time before finally deciding on this dehydrator. I’ve been using the dehydrator for two months now. I’ve done half a dozen batches of beef jerky plus I have dehydrated just about every fruit and vegetable I could find. It has performed flawlessly on every batch. The temp and timer are very easy to set up and it turns off at the end of the cycle. Set it and forget it. The unit is very quiet, you can barely hear it running. It has equal drying throughout the unit with no cold spots. The stainless-steel trays are well built, and the corrugated wire makes the grates fairly easy to clean. For easier cleaning I recommend spraying the grates with a non-stick spray if dehydrating anything that comes in contact with the trays. Very happy with the purchase. Recommend.
