  1. Small buttons. I like the cotton fabric, so the stretch question was kind of moot. It doesn’t stretch, it breathes. I like the fit, the fabric, the color, the shape, the design, BUT the buttons and button-holes are very small. I do not want to spend a bunch of time trying to fit tiny buttons into tiny buttonholes, hence the 3 stars.

  2. great for travel. I bought this shirt to layer over t-shirts and tank tops when traveling, to protect my skin from too much sun and also for modesty when visiting temples, etc. The fabric is thin, which is perfect for summer. Colors are great. When I washed it, the shirt shrank, but luckily I had ordered a larger size than usual, so it fits perfectly now. (I usually wear a medium, but ordered a large in this shirt.) The shirt has a simple, classic style and seems fairly well-constructed. It’s exactly what I needed for travel.

  3. Exactly as pictures. Not super breathable but will be a good season transition shirt. True to size. Not very stretchy

  4. Good quality. I’m 5’5” and got the pink medium. It was a good fit and good quality. I took it on a long trip to Europe and it worked perfectly.

  5. Fits Wide Arms. For reference I am 5’3 and 200lbs. Usually a Large or Extra Large in items so I purchased the XL. It fits fabulously. Its long in the torso, so if you tuck it in and raise your arms its not going to come untucked. Lightweight and breathable. I wish it came in more colors!

Comfortable, Professional, and (Importantly) Modest. I do not think this shirt is perfect, but I gave it 5 stars because it’s comfortable, easy to care for, practical, professional, decent quality, and modest. I like that it has a collar that can be buttoned up to the neck, that it has long sleeves, and that it’s not cropped in length. It’s very difficult to find a blouse that meets those criteria at $20ish dollar price point. It is rather sheer; I hope that my photos illustrate that my undershirt and skirt are visible through it. That’s acceptable to me because I always wear multiple layers (including a blazer or sweater at work to better resolve the problem). My main issue is that it definitely runs large. I bought a small, which is my usual size, originally, and it was hopeless. Even the extra-small is very loose and long on me. For how I intend to wear it, between other layers, that’s fine. But it would not be acceptable for my work’s dress code, for example, if I didn’t wear something on top because of the billows from the loose fit combined with the buttons pulling is straight towards the center. That said, given the modesty it allows and how easy it is to care for and wear, I’m still very pleased and grateful that such an option is readily available on Amazon. I would recommened this!

Summertime — lightweight — roomy and comfy! Not fully wrinkle-free however. A great summer shirt! The fabric is lightweight and roomy, good for the beach or for a hiking, being outdoors, or warm summer evenings out. A true fit on size. There are ‘a few’ wrinkles– not too many but I would not describe this as ‘ no iron’ — you’ll want to hang the shirt up or fold it nicely. The ‘ sale price’ on the checkered was worth it! I will look for other colors on sale and nap a few of these if available. It is hard to find a well made long sleeve summer shirt that is not stiff or too warm. This fits the bill as a lovely summer button down. Especially nice as it is not ‘ short’ — not a ‘ cutoff’ or ‘midriff’ — a full length button down and great for either ‘ tie up’ in front or for letting the length be a comfortable cover-up. Recommended!

  8. Small fits like Medium. Lightweight but sturdy fabric. Great w/jeans. MY PHYSIQUE: 5’7″, 125#, 32 DD chest, thin physique, narrow hips.HOW SMALL FIT ME: Perfect in the shoulders. Arms were nice and long, and very slim. Baggy, tho, with 6-8″ excess width from my 38″ chest on down. Not a trim fit.MY GOAL: I bought this to have something nice but casual, better looking than a T-shirt, that was lightweight 100% cotton for humid SW Florida, that I could wear with jeans to, say, meet with contractors or go to the dentist. I don’t need this shirt to cut a striking figure (which is good because there’s too much fabric around the waist to flatter my figure).SMALL FITS LIKE MEDIUM ~ I usually need a Medium to fit my ‘broad’ shoulders and chest, but I’m also thin with narrow hips, so most Mediums have unflattering extra fabric below. (A perfect fit for me is Ann Taylor’s feminine cut “Perfect Shirt” in a Size 4, or better yet 4 Tall, as of 10-15 years ago, tho sizes may have changed.)Based on reviews, I ordered the Small in the pale Lavender Stripe. The shoulders fit well, but it does have at least 6″ excess width at the waist and more than enough width for me at the chest level. Thankfully, the fabric is light enough that the excess isn’t a big deal, esp if I tuck it in with care to avoid the balloon look. On me, I think it looks best untucked. Or, under a jacket, the too ample waist could be hidden.ARMS ARE SLIM: I do like the fact that the shirt arms fit my slim arms quite trimly, but this could definitely be uncomfortable if you have more ample arms.PRICE: I finally pulled the trigger when the pale Lavender Stripe went on sale for $15.30. I’m very frugal and didn’t need this urgently for, say, work. If this shirt fits you well and suits your needs, it would be reasonable to pay more, given its quality.FABRIC: I love the look and feel of this fairly lightweight but sturdy 100% cotton. In fact, it’s very hard to find what I’m desperate for: very lightweight all-cotton tops and pants that could fly in the office on Casual Friday. It’s impractical to wear jeans-weight pants or any heavy fabrics if you spend any time outdoors in the heat, 9 months of the year in SWFL. Most of the competitors on Amazon claim 65% cotton / 35% Polyester or similar, and they can have that wee bit of shine or something that takes it out of the “casual” category and into the “office” category. The poly-cotton blends are often heavier than this fabric and definitely warmer and less breathable. It helps that I’m not worried about wrinkles. I haven’t *needed* to iron in years. My process with all-cotton button-up shirts like this is to take them from the running dryer while slightly damp, and hang them nicely to finish drying, wetting and smoothing anything that dried out of place. My all cotton shirts look good enough (for my purposes) using my method, and some better brands even have the kind of all-cotton fabric that doesn’t seem to need ironing right out of the dryer. My shirts never look terrible as if they were wadded up wet and left to dry, perhaps because I shake out my clothes before putting them in the dryer and don’t leave them sitting in the dryer.COLOR: One customer complained that the purple stripes were darker than the website photo. True. I think my photos are a little more accurate, but my photos are slightly darker than it looks in real life. I’d call it a healthy pastel Lavender, in real life. I, too, was attracted by the super-pale lavender color, but the less-pale lavender is also very pretty, and I like it even more.DETAIL and PATTERN MATCH-UP: The fabricators did a very good (95% perfect) job matching the stripes at the pocket, and at centering the pattern in the front and back. Notice how the stripes were carefully centered on the inch-wide front placket. Only the OCD will notice that the thick purple stripe on either side of the placket are not the same width. Other than that, the stripes on either side of the placket are matched, ie the pattern is basically symmetrical on either side of the center line of the shirt, front and back. You definitely don’t see that level of care in most cheap shirts on Amazon, but I’d have returned a striped shirt that didn’t do a decent job with that. They just look sloppy and cheap to me, if there’s poor pattern line-up or centering.

Wrinkles and more wrinkles. Blouse is pretty. Sleeves are long enough. But the fabric is not soft even though cotton. And it wrinkles and wrinkles even after washing and ironing.

  10. A Simple, Nice Button-down Shirt. I don’t usually trust buying clothes online, but I couldn’t find a black button-down shirt with black buttons locally, so I took a chance. Glad I did, because the shirt I got was perfect: the color black is true black, the fabric quality is good—neither too stiff nor too stretchy, and the size (which I used the chart for) fit perfect. For the price, I’m really impressed!
