  1. I really like it. Having always used “Windows”, and therefore completely new to Chromebook, it is a definate learning curve. I feel hampered as I’ve only ever used Microsoft type computers and being elderly may have slowed my learning speed.I will try to update this review as time goes by.My old laptop was extremely slow and I was looking for something different and speedy.First impressions after having a Chromebook for 1 week:-It is FAST. Pages load really fast!-It was easy to transfer all my data & settings from my old computer, thanks to using Chrome in past years. All my photos are there. The Chromebook shows you how and guides the process.-The keyboard lighting CAN be brightened to improve key visibility. This was one of my big concerns as many reviews mention it. The key were hard to see due to the low lighting at first. I didn’t find a reference to it on the Chromebook at first and needed a quick fix. A search on Google showed me how. I followed the instructions and now I can see the keys very well in normal household lighting.-It is a learning curve to learn the keyboard shortcuts. I am jotting down notes in a notebook.-There is a Chromebook simulator for learning.-It has a easy, sensitive touchscreen.-Screen brightness is easy to adjust.-No detectable heat output.-Battery lasts a long time.-Tablet mode: Open it completely until the two outside surfaces touch and it is completely flat. The touchscreen is quite responsive.- Any questions I have regarding how to use this Chromebook can be easily answered by a quick Google search.- The screen comes on instantly when opening, if I don’t turn the Chromebook off. Navigation icons are at the bottom of the screen.Still learning; will update.

  2. Great computer for the price. If you want a laptop with a nice-sized screen, 360 rotation, and touchscreen it’s a great laptop at a great price. I’ve had mine for 3 months now with no issues. I use it for college and a charge lasts me all day until I get back to my dorm. If I don’t use it much over the weekend say an hour a day then a full charge will last all weekend. The only downside is that the touch screen is capacitive and not active. If you want to write a lot of notes on your laptop and you can spare another hundred or so get the C436 it has an active screen. My notes are really sloppy and it’s not the easiest but it works fine and I only use it in lectures to make annotations on pdfs and then take notes on paper when I get back to my dorm. I wouldn’t use it for notes all the time because of that. But for the price it’s the best all around for what it offers.

Stylus WORTHLESS, Chrome Operating System flawed – keyboard backlight weak. Ok, I realized going in that Chrome was oftentimes complained about and that this is a Chrome machine. I am not saying that Chrome is a crummy system, in fact, I find this computer runs Chrome fast and with very few hiccups. The problem is Chrome will not do many things I have come to expect from Windows or MS DOS [or whatever it’s now called]. It is fast and every halfway normal operation can be accomplished. But problems do arise. For example, I can put my own photo in as wallpaper for the opening menu but I can’t manipulate it. My photo was too large for the screen and that couldn’t be adjusted. I had to use their supplied pictures. Not a big deal, but that ability was something I expected and was stunned when the program refused to do it. There are several other “what’s going on “ moments, but I think you get the idea. This machine is fast. I surfed the web with no problems, looked all over Amazon, read books with numerous graphs and complex pictures, and looked over a few of my own photos without difficulty. The ASUS did load Google Documents and Documents then loaded my document files from the iCloud in nothing flat. To augment the internal memory I added a 256 gb microchip which was instantly recognized; however, I had to jump through some hoops when I realized nothing was being saved or moved to the chip. I found the needed adjustment in settings and I was moving ahead again. I really enjoy being able to add memory to the computer with a chip. I think this is a major advantage over machines that don’t have this capability. The machine does have a few problems that might be considered deal killers to other people. First, the keyboard is not good. It is difficult to type on and this resulted in numerous corrections having to be made. I have actually purchased another keyboard from logitech that hooks up to this computer by Bluetooth. Once this keyboard was successfully paired I was able to begin typing on what I consider to be a standard keyboard and many of my errors disappeared. I think the keyboard is a big problem with this computer. The backlight on the keyboard is almost useless. I will note that when the back light is at a low setting it is extremely difficult to see the keys. You can increase the brightness by pressing the alt key and then pressing the increase brightness key on the function keys across the top. The keyboard will increase substantially in brightness; however, I find that even at the brightest setting the keyboard is difficult to see. It may work well in low light conditions, but in a room with regular light it is still difficult to ascertain which key is which. An experience typist will not find this a problem, but to people like me I think it is a substantial problem. On the keyboard there is no caps lock. Why this was omitted is confusing. I find that using the caps lock is a constant undertaking. To achieve capitals the operator must press down the alt key and the little magnifying glass key then the machine will lock on cabs. The weight of the computer is nothing to sneeze at. While the number of pounds seems small, try holding it out at arms length for more than 10 seconds and you will quickly see the weight is a necessary consideration. In my opinion, the screen is sharp and easy to read. For more demanding screen details you will have to go up in price. Viewing movies isn’t a problem, in fact it looks quite nice.I have saved the worst for last. This particular computer from ASUS does not, stress not, have a good stylus associated with it. I bought a stylus from Amazon and had to be especially careful to use the exact number for this computer because there are other models very near in number to this model and styluses that work with other models will not work with this computer. The stylus I bought does not allow one to draw on this computer. The stylus badly lags when used for drawing, and the stylus is not accurate in placing the line. This may be the computer itself and not the stylus; however, this lack of ability to accurately use a stylus is nearly a deal killer for me. I am very used to using the Apple iPad Pro 12.5 inch. Not being able to use a stylus is almost incomprehensible to me at this stage of computer development. Having this ASUS computer only work with a very few highly specific styluses is most disappointing. It took me over a week to start looking for a stylus to pair with this machine. Had I known the limited availability of styluses, and the nearly usable nature of a stylus with this particular machine, I would not have purchased this laptop computer. I really enjoy drawing, and drawing on the iPad is one of my favorite hobbies. I was looking forward to being able to sketch on this ASUS computer, but I find this is impossible with this particular machine. It is unfortunate the previous reviews I read did not mention the difficulty in pairing a stylus with this computer and the horrible nature of the resulting stylus lines if a person attempted to draw. Amazon’s return policy on computers prevents me from returning this machine. I suppose I could trade this in somewhere and try again, but that would be quite expensive. The next machine will avoid Chrome and will definitely either come with a stylus or have a good stylus readily available. A machine that I cannot draw on is an anathema to me.AD2

The keyboard is NOT useless. I got this for use at work as we got new ePCR software and were handed iPADS without physical keyboards and I just couldn’t do it. That being said.. I use it at home also! This machine has turned out to be a great overall device. The display is nice and bright. It’s fast.. and the battery life will last well into 2 days in a single charge! The fact that it starts up in seconds is a plus as I can do what I need to do and shut it completely down and be back up in a moment’s notice. The keyboard took some getting used to.I have seen folks mentioning that the keyboard being backlit being useless especially during the day as the contrast makes the markers on the keys nonexistent. I’ve seen that there are lots of folks who haven’t been able to turn the brightness down or even off. I have your solution.. using the alt key plus the up or down brightness key will turn it up or all the way off. I have found this to be quite useful as the only complaint that I have had thus far is this problem. But no more! Alt key plus the brightness key (up or down depending on what you’re after) and you’re good! I’m using it all the way off right now with only the screen brightness being just fine. The screen is halfway up. Give that a try before you seek to write it off as useless. I hope this has helped!

Tried Chromebook instead of Laptop–BIG Mistake. I’m a senior lady who is 71 years old. I have used computers my whole adult life. When I ordered this Chromebook instead of my usual purchases in the past of Laptops, I did so by reading what the differences were between the two, then I spoke with my son-in-law about the differences and got the impression that there was not that much difference. I just received my Chromebook four days ago. I was surprised at how nice it was. Very heavy to me at first, compared to all other Laptops I’ve used, but as I’m using it, it does not fall off my lap when I move a little! I am going to keep this in mind when I find the right Laptop for me. This Chromebook in my opinion, is one of great quality! Quite solid and sturdy! I have two favorite things on this Chromebook. One is the screen! It is so clear, very colorful, easy to read. It is the BEST SCREEN I have ever used! The Touch Screen is more precise when using it as a laptop. For example, ones I have used in the past, have always been difficult to select the exact spot where you want the cursor to be! I would need to select, go back, select again, go back, the line, the letter, the number. I don’t know if it’s due to the clarity of the screen or if it’s programming, but not having to constantly select and re-select over and over again, is a blessing! The fact in which you can fold this screen over and work on it as a tablet is great! What I don’t necessarily like is how “touchy” it is. When I folded it over and started using it as a tablet, My hands, in holding it to use as tablet, kept touching the on/off button on the side.I would touch the enter keys and shift keys and kept ending up somewhere that I didn’t want to be! This Chromebook said one of the features was a “backlit keyboard”. If it is, it is a very poor one! I could see somelighting underneath the keys, but the letters and numbers on the keys do not light up with this! What good is some lighting underneath if it doesn’t light up the actual letters/numbers? I’m also frustrated with this Chromebook that the keyboard is too simple! With a Laptop, I could switch between screens I had opened by using the Alt Key with the Tab key. Not on Chromebook! If I wanted to type a word fully in caps, I just had to touch the Shift Key. Not on Chromebook! For those who learned and worked on a Chromebook in the past, I believe this would be a good one to try, really feels very solid and sturdy. For me, I’m going to be returning this one and keep researching for the best inexpensive Laptop I can get. I will be sending it back for a refund and keep looking for the Laptop I’m use to.

I love my chromebook! Just a couple caveats. I’ve owned chromebook for 10 months now and I just love it! Here’s some updates after using if for awhile:1) Screen flickering: this is a problem but not long term. Also, if you just close the computer and reopen it, the screen will stop flickering.2) Battery life: very long, and it only takes me about 35 minutes to get a full recharge. This hasn’t been a problem for me!What I don’t like:-Keyboard lighting: the keyboard is so easy to use and works well. But the blacklisting is not bright and the silver keys with white letters makes it difficult to see the letters…unless yours in a dark place 🤔The keyboard is my biggest pet peeve but if yourve memorized your keys/placements you’ll be fine. I just wish they had done black ink on the letters of thr keyboard so they were really clear and seen well.Another pet peeve:Chrome books are difficult to connect to printers. Most home printers are compatible with Apple or PC computers. My printer had a hard time connecting via wifi. It never quite worked. I’m going to get a different printer.Everything else I love…Including the compatibility with Goole products, but even non Google apps or products connect well with it. It’s such a user friendly operating system and runs so smoothly!

Stop working after 5 months. This is not a high-end notebook, and I was aware of that when I purchased this Chromebook for $252 back at end of 2022. However, I expect any electronic device I purchase to work without incident for at least 3 years. Buy a new a streaming device, a new TV, a new smart home device, buy a new dishwasher, buy a new coffee maker, buy an iron—do you expect it to work for at least 3 years? I think so. But I got only 5 months out of my ASUS Chromebook!I’m currently in process of sending device in for warranty repair service. Along with inconvenience of dealing with product failure, I’ll be without a working device for weeks.Besides the product failure, I do want to mention what I like and don’t like about this Chromebook. Pros: keyboard keys (typing), flip feature has been working well, light weight, quick charging. Chrome/Google software is great! Cons: keyboard-hard to see letter/numbers of keys (have to touch type mostly), battery life for me has been much less than 10 hours (guess 6ish hours).Going forward, I’ll update this post with how the warranty process went. Additionally, want to share some thoughts on my perception of value for notebook computers. I bought this Chromebook to be able to have a device with a keyboard and a larger screen to primarily surf the internet, shop, and stream, instead of using my cell phone. Current price is $300. I originally thought about getting Windows notebook or an Apple Mac notebook. A Windows laptop seemed like more than I needed, plus I didn’t want to deal with slow startup, extra cost, increased virus/malware occurrence, and unknown/random reliability. Along with owning Windows notebooks, I’ve also owned Apple Mac laptops. The Apple Mac notebooks have been the best from a reliability view: essentially the hardware outlasted the system software in every case (5-10 years), but you pay a premium. Now that I’ve owned all main categories of notebooks, I’m thinking the best value, if you can afford the initial purchase price, are the Apple Mac products. I’ll make a more informed decision after the warranty repair/replacement and how long until next incident, if it occurs.

Good laptop. It’s beneficial while I’m off of work due to a work injury, but the speakers seem to have lost their loudness. Seems like after each use the speakers get lower and lower on sound. I’ve never gone past half on how loud I have it because the speakers were good; now I have to connect to a speaker via Bluetooth, to get sound to come through. Other than that the system works great! It isn’t slow or anything can work with my systems from work. Love it!

Just completely Awesome. I bought this Asus 2 and 1 Chromebook Flip not expecting to be as good as what’s written. But I have to say it’s better. This is the best computer I have ever invested in. It works out excellent for what I do and it’s teaching. I can do everything that a high price computer at Bestbuy can do. I would recommend everyone to have one. Besides the operation system the Chromebook is just out right stylist and the flip is just out of this world. People are so amazed when I use it they can’t stop admiring it.. You will read reviews about the key board backlight. I have to say they are all wrong the backlight is more then sufficient to see. I like the way Asus went with the crime style inside and out. Even on the keyboard. I can’t stand the basic black. That’s for those who don’t want to move on with time. Now Check this out it hae a charging slot on both sides of the laptop 💻 so you can switch it to charge in either side. The touch screen is just beyond sensitive, but that what you want. The Volume is excellent and the picture is just wow.Now please sleep in mind this is a piece of machinery that need to be taken care of. If you drop it it will break just like any other computer. So stop the complaining about it being cheap because it’s not.The only set back is that Asus don’t have a protective hard case for it. They definitely need one for this laptop.Oh yeah you can woke on multiple screens at one time as well that just a bonus for me.Hope this was helpful.

  13. Great computer. I love everything about my chromebook except I have trouble scrolling with the pad in the chromebook. I usually get around this by using the touchscreen or an external mouse. For whatever the reason it will not scroll.

  14. Comprador real que lo compró October 1, 2023 at 12:00 am

Lo máximo. Esta Chromebook esta’súper. Funciona realmente bien.

  15. Great chromebook for the price. I like the fact that this chromebook is smaller and more compact than my old one. Touchscreen is a nice option although I rarely use it. Also like the keyboard backlighting. It was easy to set up and start using. My only complaint is the battery life.
