Prevents brassiness in my highlights. I have very challenging hair to color and maintain even for excellent stylists. I get regular root touch-ups for gray and have blonde highlights added in my hair. In the past, my blonde highlights would easily get brassy and even orange.I use this purple shampoo/ conditioner combo once a week now. Although my highlights have gotten lighter this summer, they haven’t done the brassy/orange thing at all, even though I’ve been out in the sun quite a bit and traveled a fair amount, shampooing with water containing a variety of hardness and chemicals. I have not swam in a chlorinated pool so I don’t know if this shampoo/conditioner would prevent problems caused by chlorine. Using the shampoo just once a week has not caused my hair to be dry or change in texture.
It’s Sulfate Free. I have been using Redken Color Extend Graydiant Purple Shampoo for years + never realized it wasn’t Sulfate Free.I changed when I had a keratin treatment + was told to make sure I used a Sulfate Free Shampoo.I went home + double checked it was, BUT IT WASN’T.So, I changed to L’Oréal Ever Pure. It doesn’t hold my purple highlights as well, but I’m happy it’s better for my hair + environment.I realize now, any bottle that doesn’t say Sulfate Free isn’t.
Perfect Blonde. Bought these after getting my hair colored for the first time in years and they worked perfectly for taking the brassy tones out of my blonde highlights. Since I hadn’t started with this shampoo as soon as I got it colored, it took a couple treatments to get my color looking right again, but now I am able to use only 1-2 times weekly to maintain the color.
This Shampoo/Conditioner is Excellent for Older Hair Too. I had never tried this shampoo/conditioner set before but in looking for purple one–those made specifically for blonde, silver and gray hair–I ran across this and decided to try it. My (now-white) hair has always been dry but even though I do not blow dry it I still feel it is on the dry side. It has also gotten a bit frizzy.This doesn’t leave my hair as soft as I would like but I think it does a pretty fine job, hence four stars for moisturizing and softness. I do tend to rinse thoroughly so perhaps I am doing a bit too much. The scent is minimal, thank goodness, because I loathe scented/perfumed products of any kind. And my hair gets and looks wonderfully clean. While I did not give this five stars across the board, I do find it more than good enough to put it on my regular purchase list. Recommended.
