Better than ziploc bags, but the enclosed directions are worthless. I was OK using ziploc bags for sous vide until one of the bags failed and I ruined a expensive piece of prime beef. So I figured I use the sous vide often enough to warrant buying a vacuum sealer. I waffled between this and the lower cost model, and ultimately chose this due to the onboard bag storage and sealing/cutting function as well as some of the other additional options vs the base model. The vacuum machine is sleek and looks nice. It’s a little bigger than expected, but relatively easy to hide in the pantry when not in use and won’t take up too much real estate in there. The on-board cord storage is nice and being able to keep the roll of customizable bags within the unit means one less thing I have to look for when I need to use this. The main downside is that this machine isn’t really all that intuitive for the first time user. I’ve never used a vacuum sealer before and given how easy and intuitive the Anova sous vide was, I erroneously assumed that this would be the same. Well, how wrong I was. The included directions are terrible, and look like they were written by a dropout from the Ikea instruction manual writing school: No words, overly simplified pictures, and no explanation. It’s really disappointing to turn to the enclosed instruction manual for help only to get even more confused and frustrated. Sadly no readily available videos on YouTube either. So with some trial and error and wasting a good amount of vacuum bags, I sort of figured out how to use this machine and vacuum seal food. The good news is that the vacuum sealer works well, the bag stays sealed shut, and my steaks all turned out well. It’s also much easier to use this than ziploc bags and I have complete confidence that the vacuum sealed bags won’t leak. I’ve used this a dozen times now and haven’t had a bag failure yet. Being able to customize the size of the bag for my needs is great. Once I figured out how to use the thing, it’s been great. Just the initial first impression was poor.Anyway, it’s a little pricy, but the quality of the bags are nice, the seal works, and the convenience and reliability of the machine has been great. I just wish there were clearer instructions to make the initial attempt more user friendly. The ability to custom control the amount of vacuum has been more helpful that I thought. In addition to getting food ready for the sous vide bath, I’ve also been using this for long term storage of coffee beans I buy in bulk, meats for the freezer, marinating food, and just about everything else you can think of that would benefit from airless storage. After I completed the included roll, I’ve also stayed with using the Anova brand rolls of bags just to keep everything “in the family”. FYI, the bags are pretty good but have their quirks.Happy cooking!
This is the best vacuum sealer I’ve ever had. I instantly fell in love with this product. I’ll compare it to my cheaper FoodSaver vacuum sealer. The top latch that locks the sealer in place is super easy to use in comparison. It takes way less pressure to lock in place. The seal is much thicker, and it’s a double seal. I always sealed my bags twice with the FoodSaver so this saves an extra step and it’s a far superior seal. The bag roll storage compartment is great and the bag cutter works flawlessly. I saw complaints about the cutter not working at all and I’m not experiencing this. It’s a clean, smooth cut. No more scissors! The vacuum stays on even after the seal button lights up. So you’re sure not to get any extra air in the bag as it seals.Actual sealing takes longer than the FoodSaver, but that’s fine. It’s a great seal.My FoodSaver sealer died after moderate use.Overall I’m very happy with this. As with most things Anova it appears to be high quality and has a nice amount of weight with a somewhat compact size. Mine didn’t come with the hose to use on Mason jars and such but I probably wouldn’t use that anyway. It would have been nice to include it. Overall for my needs this machine’s perfect.
Could be just about perfect with a software update and a platform to get your food level before seal. I bought this to use with my sous vide machine and it’s just about perfect, but falls short in a couple areas that could be completely preventable or at least very easily addressed.1) This requires a lot of extra bag to vacuum and seal. Like, I’m talking a solid 3 inches of extra bag length just to get in the machine WHILE SUSTAINING A PERFECTLY FLAT MATING SURFACE for the sealer. Not a huge deal, but it’s definitely wasteful and could easily be reduced quite a bit by lifting the bag to the same height as the sealer (I use an upside-down plate or baking dish).2) The vacuum turns off BEFORE the sealer starts sealing. This just seems like a dumb idea and I’ve wasted several bags because of this. I’ll get, what I think is a good seal (but there’s apparently a wrinkle in the mating surface), so it’ll vacuum the air out totally fine, but then stop suctioning (at which point a lot of air comes wafting back in), and then starts to seal. It would be a lot more effective if it started sealing at least a handful of seconds BEFORE the vacuum turned off to reduce “back draft” into the bag.3) The drip tray doesn’t come out easily (or if at all). I only fiddled with it for a couple of seconds before just hitting it with a damp paper towel, but I would’ve thought the drainage tray would simply pop out for easy cleaning. Nope.Overall, once you figure out its’ quirks, it’s not a bad machine and I would probably purchase it again. The self-contained bag roll is pretty handy and it does a good job. But again, you just gotta work around its’ little quirks to get a good vacuum seal.
Awesome. I tried this vacuum sealer and I was impressed at how fast it vacuumed and sealed. With great hesitation I returned it only because I live in a condo and have very little kitchen space. I just had nowhere to store it. I purchased the same brand that doesn’t store the roll
Great for storing dehydrated food. I do a lot of backpacking and make dehydrated meals. This is great for sealing and storing my dehydrated ingredients.
We like this, easy to use. You should watch YouTube videos of how to use it. Once you watch one or two of those, it’s really easy to figure out how to use it. We have been pre-seasoning meat and freezing it for quicker dinners. It has worked perfectly for that. I’m sure there a million other uses, but we use it for meat.
Perfect for use with a sous vide, or freezing items. We bought this to use with a sous vide that we received as a gift. It’s easy to use and creates custom-sized vacuum-sealed packets. It’s a valuable addition to our kitchen, not only for sous vide cooking but also for freezing meats and poultry safely. We also use it’ll
Works very well and I can use Foodsaver bags with no issues. The media could not be loaded. Good, could be better. When I needed a new vacuum sealer I was excited to give the Vacuum Sealer Pro a chance based on my experience with the Anova Sous Vide cookers. Other than my experience with the sous vide giving me confidence in the brand, I chose this because it specifically called out being able to seal a large number of bags in succession which is something my FoodSaver struggled with and in my limited usage so far it does deliver on that promise. I do have a few gripes though, none of which are deal breakers on their own or enough for me to return it but are things that cheapen the experience and I think would prevent me from buying another in the future especially at full price. The first is the thickness of the base makes it so I have to either cut way too much extra bag or prop up the bag on something like a cutting board so it can sit closer the opening otherwise you won’t be able to get the bag into the unit far enough to get a good vacuum and seal.Second, the drip tray is not removable so when you do get any juices into the unit you cant clean it as easily as even the bottom tier vacuum sealers from other brands, this is a bit of a sanitary issue since you can’t clean it as thoroughly as units with a removable tray.My final gripe is the lack of included accessory hose. It’s such a small thing and Anova currently sells it for $7, this seems like something that should be included in a “pro” machine. It may be user error somehow, but I have an issue when running the “vacuum & seal” cycle, the bag will vacuum and it will switch to the seal stage but it never actually seals the bag and there are no signs on the bag that any heat was applied, rerunning the cycle resolves it, but it has happened 3 or 4 times in about 30 bags sealed. I will keep an eye on it to see if it continues to be a problem. It’s not the end of the world but is something that shouldn’t be happening. I also tried the included roll of material to ensure it wasn’t some kind of compatibility issue with the third party bags I have been using and the same thing happened.I do highly recommend if you do buy this unit you buy basically any other brand of material. The bags/rolls are so severely overpriced compared to competitors and mine has worked with both FoodSaver and Kirkland signature bags without issue so far.Overall it is worth the current Amazon sale price of $99 but I don’t recommend it at full price as it just doesn’t elevate the experience over other brands you can buy for $100 or less. I also have a chamber sealer that is starting to act up and parts are no longer available for it, I was considering the anova chamber sealer but at this point I think I will look elsewhere.
NEVER … NEVER Again. I purchased this sealer in December 2023. Until June 2024, I used it perhaps a dozen times. For about 2 months beginning June, I began using it regularly, perhaps 12 – 15 cycles per week. I was able to work thru various issues (such as the need to run multiple sealing cycles, adjusting bag lengths and other creative techniques for moist food, etc…) to make it reasonably functional. Then on August 16, the ability, both automatic and manual, to seal while vacuuming failed. I called Anova customer service and left a message. To their credit, I received a call back the same day. Anova sent me a return label and told me they were sending a replacement. After a MONTH and after numerous emails with assurances that the replacement has been shipped, I am still without a vacuum sealer. They have my original unit and I have nothing other than a 2+ week old tracking number for the replacement which never shipped (their last email was to inform me that the unit was on back order and they would let me know when the situation changed). Their customer service lied and attempted to deceive… this, along with what I have now found to be a company with a history of producing unreliable products with little to no support, is not a recipe for building a satisfied customer base. I will NEVER purchase another Anova product and will go out of my way to advise others to do likewise.
A complete garbage product. INITIAL REVIEW: I bought this to replace my well-worn FoodSaver once it died. I had seen multiple good reviews from sources I trusted, but it turned out to be a mistake.Since I was replacing a FoodSaver, I naturally had a decent supply of FS rolls, so I used those at first. But the fail rate on those seals was well over 50%. They didn’t allow a massive amount of air in, but even a small bit introduces freezer burn, and avoiding that is the main reason to buy a vacuum sealer in the first place. They also made sous vide items float, which is also a problem.I tried two other brands of rolls, and they too failed to seal. Only the Anova brand worked. From what I can tell, the machine needs bags/rolls that are ridged on both sides, which most other brands aren’t.That Anova bags/rolls are more expensive than many other options is, of course, less than ideal. But they don’t even make an 8″ width, which is the bread & butter of single-serve packaging. So I end up wasting a lot of their rolls.I kinda wish the machine dies prematurely so I can justify going back to FoodSaver lolFOLLOW UP: After 6+ months of relying strictly on Anove-brand rolls, I’ve experienced a failure rate of 20-25%. That’s insane. DO NOT BUY THIS ITEM!!!!
I LOVE this machine! Best of MANY I tried (and returned). I tried 4 other sealers before buying this one. All had flaws or just plain wouldn’t seal 100%, which is not acceptable for sous vide OR storing food. This one cost a little more but is WORTH THE DIFFERENCE IN COST. Take my personal trial and error and use it to your advantage. This sealer ROCKS!
About as good as non-chamber sealers get. Honestly, I wish I’d splurged on the chamber version. If there’s any moisture whatsoever, it does a pretty bad job. You have to leave air filled head space, or else it won’t seal properly. Sometimes the static inside the bags forces liquid out unevenly, even with gentle bursts of manual suction, and it’s a huge PITA to smooth out the air bubbles.Works well for dry stuff.

Very Disappointed with the Anova. Despite all of the good reviews I read for this Anova Precision Vacuum Sealer Pro, I am very disappointed with how it performs. The biggest issue is despite the food I am trying to seal (even foods that are low in moisture), is vacuums the bag effectively but it also pulls so much liquid out that it floods the vacuum chamber and even spills over it. Every time I used the machine, I have to completely clean the machine after. In the previous Food Saver sealer I had, I never had to do this and always got a good seal. The other issue I have with this product is after every use, I have to feed the bag under the cutter again and seal the end before sealing. Again with the Food Saver, the cutter was on the cover when it closed and the end of the bag in the machine automatically sealed after I cut it.
Nice machine. I went through four or five of the popular name brand Vacuum Sealers in the last decade. I use the dickens out of these things. This machine seems more heavy duty in construction. The vacuum pump seems a bit more powerful too. It is agnostic to the brand of bag or roll being used, I haven’t found one that hasn’t worked. The vacuum port works amazing. I store spices, spice blends, and some whole cooking ingredients in mason jars that I vacuum seal. You need to stab the hose barb in all the way to get the port to function. The double seal has not failed me once so that’s a plus. The only thing that would make it more handy would be a removable spill tray but that’s not a deal breaker or a reason not to buy in my opinion.I’m very happy with this purchase.
Previous review was mistaken….the machine is wonderful, customer service is wonderful. This is a review of two machines, so it isn’t just a ‘lemon’. It does a beautiful job…until a few days later the vacuum has failed and the tightly sealed bag is puffed out with air. The first machine failed after it was too late to return to Amazon, so I called Anova and their response was wonderful. They have a two-year warranty, they made it simple to return the defective machine and sent me a new one. And the same thing happened! I will contact them again, probably get another one, but I am not optimistic. I am a very experienced user. Have had several Foodsaver machines over the years, and thought I would try this new, highly reviewed brand. Very disappointedAbove is my first review. Since then the replacement machine has worked flawlessly.. Seals quickly, vacuums beautifully, the vacuum lasts. I have a hypothesis that when the replacement machine vacuum failed it was because it was still cold from the sub-zero temperatures and I tried to use it immediately.Anyway the only reason I don’t give it a five-star rating is that the first machine failed. But it was replaced without question and without any charge to me. And their customer service is amazing. Highly recommended!

Great quality1. Easy to use and works well!
