Output is more like crushed ice. Started thinking about Shave Ice the other day, and thought, why don’t I just make my own. So, after a quick search on Amazon, this unit is about half the price of most of the others, so I decided to give it a try. It arrived this morning, and here’s my thoughts on it.First off, the big question is, how fine does it grind the ice. In my opinion, this is a bit too course for shave ice, and possibly even a tad bit too coarse for a snow cone. Basically, the output is similar to rock salt that one might use on icy winter sidewalks. When I squirt some flavored syrup on it, most of it tends to filter down into the bottom of the cup, because the larger ice crystals will end up coated, but can’t absorb it, so the reduced surface area of the ice doesn’t hold the syrup well. It still tastes good, just not as good as a proper shave ice would.As for ease of use, I was actually surprised at how easily it cranked. I was half expecting some degree of difficulty or clumsiness as I cranked, but it was really easy and fast (not anymore difficult than a child’s Jack-in-the-box toy). Of course, I’m sure various factors could affect this, such as how much air is captured in the ice, size of ice cubes, etc. But, for my half moon shaped ice cubes from my Whirlpool refrigerator’s ice maker, it made short work of it.Cleanup, as expected, is easy. I mean, you’re cleaning ground up ice out of it. Dismantle it into it’s three main parts and give it a quick wash in the dish sink.For the lower cost, this is certainly worth the price, in my opinion, as long as you understand what you are purchasing. I’m dinging it one star for the coarse grind of the ice, but otherwise I have no complaints.
Better than expected. Bought 2 very similar brands to do a comparison and this one is the winner!Ice is very fine and fluffy. Not too strenuous. Used regular sized icecube trays from my freezer. Not going to make special shaped ice for this occasion.My hand that presses the ice down into the blades became a little tired. I started using my forearm across the top to press down. Now no problem with pushing.I’m doing a Carnival for 100 people in a park with no electricity. This was the next best thing to a snow cone maker. I think this grinder grinds finer then some of the electric ones I’ve used.The picture in the sink was the comparison ice grinders. The one on left is the Manba.Hard to tell in this pic they are close but the one on left isnt chunky.I’ll update this after the Carnival if it breaks in use.Right now I’m recommending it.
Summer home sno cones. I can say I’m pleasantly surprised with this thing and I actually give it a 4.7out of 5. A full compartment of shaved ice can make about (4) 8oz snow cones. You don’t have to worry about it being hard to crank since the blades moves slower and don’t go a full rotation as you’re turning to handle (great for the elderly or kiddos) and they also sell blade replacements so overtime your don’t have to replace the whole thing, all you need are the new blades. It’s SUPER easy to clean as well. As a tip: try to use the tray the comes with it as flat cubes do best in the machine since it makes better contact with the blades. Also, shave the ice as soon as you remove it from the freezer since you want the ice as solid as possible for an actual “snow” texture; if you let it melt slightly, you’ll have more of a shaved ice with small chunks rather than snow. The only complaint I have is the silicone ring grip on the bottom always wants to slip out of place. Overall I’d DEFINITELY recommend this if you’re on a budget. Hope this helps!

Omg im in love. As soon as I received my package i ripped it open and ran to my kitchen to rinse and try it.. I chew ice .. allot of ice and when i seen this machine i thought ohhh this will save my teeth a little and let me tell you, it works great and pretty fast . I cant wait to make slushies of course but im def gonna love using this . Great product ☺️
Great ice, easy to use. I just got this today and tried it right away. I was afraid I wouldn’t be able to operate it efficiently because I’m kinda puny and skinny but to my surprise it was very easy. A bit slow going at first, but the result was excellent. Actual snow cone ice! The three blades are a definite advantage over other models. For the price, less than $20, this is a very excellent value.
Makes the Best Slushies. I love this thing! I drink a lot of sparkling waters and this makes it seem like I’m drinking a fancy slushy. The ice melts quickly in a regular glass, but stays in a stainless steel cut (Yeti, etc.)Just for fun, I timed it and it takes about 2 minutes to grind a full cup of ice. Totally worth it!
Easy to use. This was great, but I could not give 5 stars, because the capacity is small. I would have to grind for a while to create more ice, but the quality of shaved ice was exactly what I was looking for and easy to use, and lightweight to carry.
Good Value. PROS:- comes with an item that allows you to push the ice down while you turn to shave the ice- comes with a container/bowl where the shaved ice can directly go down into- comes with a FREE silicone ice moldCONS:- turning the wheel/knob is a little confusing (you just gotta feel it out to see which way to turn to shave the ice)
Good enough. Shavings are little bigger than professional ice shaver but without spending hundreds of dollars, it works good enough at this price point. Ended up chewing more ice than I would like though.
Works great. Easy to use, works great! Feels durable. It makes snow. Spouse loved it for surgical recovery. Now its a treat when we want. I flavored it with squeeze bottle drink enhancers. Makes large portions easily . I don’t find it noisy we could talk over it. Sounds like a blade on ice. I highly recommend!

This is one of those cheap and simple things that is just works, effectively and efficiently.I needed a blender to make this simple dessert called scramble. I needed to crush ice. Actually i bought a cheap hamilton blender for about $30. Then after purchasing rather than search for “ice blender” i searched “ice shaver”. Now the hamilton had kixed reviews and i understand that it is for smoothie but it does have a crush ice settings. But i was still doubtful.I ended up purchasing this ice shaver also after reading all the reviews. And the hamilton i didnt even took out the shipping box and it went straight to ups to be returned.This ice shaver efficiently shaves ice in perfect soft fluffy texture. Best of all it’s mechanical, no electricity need (which also means it is quiet).I would wane potential buyers though that if you are thinking of getting extra ice trays, make sure you get smaller ice trays, same size as the ice tray that come with this shaver. The reason is that inside the shaver there is a divider to keep the ice innplace while the bottom bladed floor rotates to shave the ice. I included a pic on this review of what the i side looks like since not a lot of people posted this part and not even the stock photos show this.If you are simply looking to shave ice THIS is the tool for it. If you’re looking to make smoothie, i think it is possible you’ll just need to mix it, pour it in the ice tray then once frozen, drop the cubes in the shaver and shave along!

Outstanding ice shaver. ICE CHEWERS UNITE! lol!! My hubby is thrilled I purchased this awesome little hand crank ice shaver. He used to crush ice for me the hard way. Repeatedly slam a board on a bag of ice, wrapped in a towel (on the basemt. floor) yielding inconsistent sz pieces and usually ice strewn across the floor… meh…. (but love him for the effort!) ♥This thing is FANTASTIC!!! I can shave ice even w. a weak/ wonky side (stroke) Simply lean weak arm on the top as I turn the handle w. my other arm. Surprisingly easy – yields beautiful, fluffy ice in no time! Mini ice cube tray is a nice bonus. Ice shaver doesn’t take up much space – gotta love that.Shaved ice w. just a splash of unsw. grapefruit juice on brutal summer evenings – soooo refreshing! Very HAPPY w. purchase!

Amazing and highly recommend. The media could not be loaded. I was honestly shocked at how well this worked and how quickly you can make a single serving. My boys are 5 and 8 and they both can easily operate themselves (with my supervision to ensure they dont touch the blades) Absolutely worth the investment, especially if you’re a sports mom constantly getting swindled into $8 Kona icee’s at any sporting event by your kids! Lol in less than 5 minutes you can use 4-5 ice cubes to make a full cup/single serving for the kiddos. I then purchased the icee syrup flavor pack that came with 4 dif flavors. In order to ensure my kids didn’t dump the whole jug onto the ice….i used one of the children’s tylenol/motrin medicine cups to fill 10mL of each flavor then let the kids dump that themselves…..worked perfectly. Highly recommend you purchase if contemplating it!
Compact, but efficient. I had another ice shaver (the blue one in the photo) but live in a very small place and it was always a bit of a mess when ice fell and missed the bowl I used with it (the can is just there for a visual size). The new ice shaver works very efficiently due to the 3 blades, is incredibly compact, much easier to refill, and there is no mess. The overall “ice storage” area is perhaps a bit smaller, but since you don’t have to unscrew the top to refill, it’s not an issue. I found filling the ice to the top filled the holder about halfway up. This was with the icemaker ice from my fridge, so semicircular shaped.The handle was VERY easy to turn, much easier to use than the blue one. I’ve probably used it 50 times now, and it’s not shown any signs of wear.
Love This- 3rd purchase. I love this little Gem. It makes the ice so fluffy just like I like it. I found this product 2 years ago and fell in love. I am a serious ice eater and this is the 3rd one I have brought. I wore the handle out on the other 2. I’ve tried one of those electric shavers that are more expensive but it doesn’t make the ice fluffy and snow like consistency like this one. I do hate that my excessive use wears out the handle but I will replace it again if need be, because I don’t trust these other products to give me the same texture that I crave.
Makes refreshing ice beverages and dessert. if you like refreshing drink or refreshing dessert, this ice shaver is great. You can even make the Hawaiian snow ice cream.
Good. The order was delivered on schedule. It was well packaged. We used it the following day. The quality of the shaved ice was more than what we expected. The ice capacity is good for 2 tall glasses on top of mixed fruits and beans. Good enough for two people who are small eaters. It is easy to operate for a senior like me.
Highly recommended. Still using it, so it makes fantastic shape wise, and the blades are still sharp. The hand crank has shown no signs of where even though it’s used almost daily.
ALL THE STARS! Wonderful product. ALL THE STARS!! We love this snow cone maker. This is a really fun and safe way for littles to help make a cool, summer treat. Adult supervision still required, but there are no blatantly open blades, the device is fairly quiet, and children can EASILY shave the ice. No electricity needed, so it can be taken on camping trips, to the lake, etc., and it is inexpensive (around $20)! Instead of buying the syrups, you can use Koolaid mix (or similar) with raw cane sugar to make your own flavored syrup. Children are empowered and learn independence when they can help with everyday tasks. My son just turned 4, and this was very easy for him to use. This is a definite WIN on every level.

Just what i wanted AND needed for those times i am unable to use an electric blender!!The shaved ice is soft like snow and easy to use.**I would recommend that when using it, put a silicone mat under it to prevent any slipping.**The ice tray it came with is a nice bonus.I tried it with standard ice tray cubes and it worked. Ice Ice Baby. This ice shaver is great! We used it for an shaved ice bar we had at a party. Easy to use, cute color, and no issues. Perfect travel friendly ice shaver for a budget friendly price.BUT what I wanted to really review – is the bonus ice cube tray. THIS IS MY FAVORITE ICE CUBE TRAY!!! I actually went on amazon to see if I could buy them (forgot it was a bonus from this purchase). I wish they sold these ice cube trays separately!! That’s how good it is. I may need to make another purchase just so I can get another ice cube tray! HA!
