Much heavier to handle than I thought. Review of Snow Joe 24V-SS13 24-Volt iON+ 13-Inch 4-Ah Cordless Snow Shovel, BlueUPDATE: Finally had snow, around 4″ slightly heavy snow. I used this on packed gravel and as long as I didn’t try to clear it out to the gravel, I never threw any. The driveway is only the size of 2 cars. Worked fine. I also used it on a 25′ x 25′ wood deck. The auger picked up loose sticks that were in the snow and tossed them. The rubber piece at the bottom of the Joe takes quite a beating on uneven wood decks but that part can be replaced. The battery life was better than I thought, it was down only 1 light doing both the gravel drive and the deck.I chose the 24V BUNDLE, which includes an additional 24 volt battery. This was very easy to put together. Follow the enclosed instructions and you’ll see that you attach the handle to the middle section FIRST, than attach that to the shovel part. That way the extra cord is easy to tuck into the shovel section. I had no problems, it was together in 3 minutes. The Rapid Battery Charger WAS included in the box, in a separate white cardboard box. I didn’t have to call Snow Joe for it. The batteries I got were both on 2 lights, so it took less than an hour to charge.I’ll update as soon as it snows. I was a little shocked on how heavy this is, even without the battery installed, so if you don’t have some upper body strength, you might have trouble with handling this. I’m also going to be using this on a gravel driveway, the auger looks like it has a couple inches of clearance before I start throwing rocks, but it may end up not working out for my needs. I refuse to pay $1500.00 for a 2-stage snowblower, since I only have to clear snow on a spot that takes up the space of 2 cars. Check back!
There is nothing to dislike about this product. As a 77-year-old man, it helps me to keep my deck and sidewalk clear. No more heavy lifting. I recommend the battery-powered model with a 19″ swath.
So far so good, charged and works. I will update this after it’s used in real snow but for now it worked in the initial charge test.Pros:1) Battery is easy to charge and attach and detach from the unit – that’s a real plus (I have the full size snowblower as well and the battery is very difficult to install requires a mallet to pound it flush so it will engage, and then a crowbar to get it back out which is too much drama IMO)2) decent size for days when full size blower is overkillCons:1) the 3 piece handle does not lock down tight so it has an over all wobble. No matter how much you tighten the wig nuts there is little change to the stability of the bar. I will most likely try to get washers to snug it up.Con which became a Non-event due to other reviews: thanks Amazon reviewers!I was reluctant to buy this because of the difficulty some reviewers reported in putting the three-piece handle together and getting the cord that runs through it to fit. That observation is completely true. If you follow the assembly instructions, you’ll end up with way too much cord left over to close up the connections. However on my unit, I was able to do it without any modifications by taking the three pieces and slowly connecting them a little bit at a time, this allows the chord to adapt inside the sections as you go along. Otherwise there is like 3 inches of cable/chord that prevents the thing from going together. One thing I would say is once you get it together, never take it apart…. Never…. Just don’t. I think I was only able to get it together because of all the warnings in the comments from other reviewers, which I really appreciate. I was prepared going in for a little bit of a Rubic’s cube moment and that helped. I knew trouble shooting would be necessary to get my unit together successfully. Thank you to the other reviewers who mentioned this issue.
Great for the Lighter Snow. To be honest I bought this with a very particular use in mind. I have a larger three stage blower for heavier snow but it is a pain to get up and running and maneuver around, to the point that for snow fall under 2 inches, it is not worth the trouble of getting it going. I needed something that would save my back from the wear and tear of manual shoveling but not overpowered like my big blower, this came in perfect. It is fairly lightweight but packs a decent punch of snow clearing power. It doesn’t have wheels so it operates more similar to a shovel with you having to push it along, but it cuts through snow quickly without much effort. This is the perfect solution if you dont get huge amounts of snow or just need something for the lighter times. The battery life is very good , I have yet to have it die on me and it charges pretty fast as well. The assembly is very straightforward, the only possible confusion is the direction of the shaft but thats easily remedied if you get it wrong. Overall great product, very happy with it.
Lightweight, portable electric shovel. Shovel is easy to assemble and is lightweight. Holds a charge for a long time. Works well for lighter, fluffy snow, and not so well for heavier wet snow. Also does not work well once you have large snowbanks. You shovel in a straight line and the head doesn’t turn and it does not blow the snow high enough to go up on the snowbank. I end up shoveling to the end of the driveway, walking back up and then come down the driveway again. It would be better for something like a large deck where you can blow the snow off the sides.
Not Quite the Miracle Product I’d Hoped It Would Be. I think this is a great product and I’ve seen how well it works on others, but I just haven’t had the same results myself. I have very fine hair that is prone to frizzing like crazy, it’s a very difficult texture to work with in the summer (well, pretty much all year it’s difficult to work with, but doubly so in the summer). I was so hoping this product would be a game changer, but I just can’t quite give it five stars.I used a good amount of the product and combed it all through my hair to make sure everything was saturated with it. I was pleasantly surprised that even when you use a lot of this product, it does not weigh your hair down or make it greasy AT ALL. That really shocked me, I thought for sure it would end up greasy from using that much. I rough dried my hair until it was about 80% dry and then switched over to a blow dry brush to get the heat/tension combo needed to achieve the smoothest end result. It was a definite improvement over my usual routine, but I still ended up with frizz as the day went on.I waited until I had washed my hair a few times before trying it again and have used it about four or five times now since I got it, it says the product lasts through 3-4 shampoos. While it does help on the subsequent washes until it washes out completely, it gets frizzier each day. I was curious what would happen if you used it daily, but since it does seem to be a product that coats and bonds to your hair (even lasting through shampooing) I was hestitant to try that. Even if it doesn’t feel like there’s anything on your hair, I didn’t want to end up with a bunch of build up that could end up making my hair feel or look weird. I did use it after washing only one time on a couple of days and didn’t notice that it made it feel weighted down, but also wasn’t any smoother.The other odd thing with this product is that there isn’t a scent to it, but it makes your hair smell strange. I have no idea how to describe the smell other than that it reminds me of the smell of people after being outside in the wind, it’s just not a pleasant scent and it’s so weird that there is no scent to the product but that’s how it makes your hair smell. I think I’m like most women in that I want my hair to smell nice, but this product is going to do the opposite. My hair doesn’t even smell like my shampoo after using this product, it’s like it wipes out that scent and replaces it with…..whatever you’d call this weird smell.I’ll use this until the bottle is gone, but I really don’t think it’s something I’d purchase again. I think it’s still overall a good product based on the results I did see and I would still recommend others to try it, I know I have a very difficult hair texture and I think it would be a great product for people with a different texture of hair, but it’s just not for me.
Transformative results when used correctly. I bought this back in Feb and tried it a few times with rather disappointing results. I thought maybe the directions were a little exaggerated and I used it like other leave in products. Sprayed it into my hair, combed through, applied my usual anti-frizz serum and then blow dried as usual flipping my hair upside down. THIS IS NOT IT!A fewWeeks ago I tried it again because my hair was just a frizzy dry mess. I decided to follow the directions to the letter.I sectioned my towel dried hair that was still pretty wet. Sprayed each section LIBERALLY, like, more than I thought I ever should and combed each section through before moving on to the next. I skipped any other product in my hair which kind of terrified me.I let air dry a bit before blow drying with my giant air brush, again, going in sections and using tension and high heat.I was literally floored by the results! My hair was soft, felt like silk, was SUPER smooth and INSANELY shiny!!!!Since using this product the right way, my super dry, frizzy, crunchy hair has been the complete opposite. My co-workers all thought I had gotten my hair done at a salon, had my hair colored, had my hair cut….none of which has happened.My hair is easier to style and curl, it has bounce and movement. It glistens without looking oily.My only criticism is the design of the bottle. It’s not very ergonomic and the nozzle spins and I’ll lose my grip on it throughout application. So, I transferred the product into a different spray bottle that is much easier to hold while spraying.The moral of this story ladies and gentlemen is that you MUST follow the directions!! I can’t stress that enough. When they call it a coat, they mean it. Each section of your hair needs to be coating thoroughly and absolutely saturated by the product. Just spraying it into your hair isn’t going to do the trick. You also need heat with tension. Just blow drying won’t do it.Yes it takes a bit more time, but the results in applying it and blow drying correctly are worth it.I don’t notice a scent really.My hair just smells clean. I also notice my hair doesn’t get as oily as quickly. I was also surprised that no other products were needed at all. No leave in condition, no oil, serum nothing.
This has saved me masses amount of time in the mornings. No more bed head!!! I had my hair up in a ponytail yesterday. Took it out before I went to bed and this is how it was this morning. Virtually straight every time. No more frizzy hair to tame. The only con to it, I feel, is that it’s still quite thick and can frizz up a little in the damp air. No where near as bad as it use to but, I can live with that. Makes my hair feel healthy and amazing
Throw out (almost) every other product. I’m not sure why people are complaining about the smell, there isn’t one, which I love. I have naturally curly, fine, thin, damaged and frizzy hair from years of bleaching and heat treatment. I have an entire linen closet shelf full of products. I will keep Its A 10 with keratin and Wow Dream Coat and toss the rest! This spray, even applied liberally is not heavy, there is no build up and I don’t have to retouch my hair for days! It’s so soft, shiny and smooth. I spray it’s a 10 first, comb through and then follow the instructions for dream coat. The huge difference is when I straighten it. I’m not a review person but this product warrants it!! I’m even going to try their curl line to see if I can get back some of my natural curl. I have also had zero issues with my hair drying out with this product. I think the price is right on point, especially considering the stylist Gail Federici who formulated it and her resume of quality hair care lines and colors. She’s been in the business for a long time and has always backed extremely good products. A must buy!
It works well enough. I expected that my hair would stay smooth all day. It doesn’t, but it gets less frizzy than it used to. First, I let my hair dry a bit… so it’s semi-dry rather than sopping wet. Then I spritz the product throughout my hair. About 8-10 pumps seems right. Then I use my Revlon dryer-brush, which lets me pull my hair straight while drying it. I work a section at a time and then go over it again once more to ensure it’s completely dry, even at the roots. I may put a spritz or two of hair spray on my palms and smooth them lightly over my hair just to get the extra strays.My hair stays reasonably smooth most of the day in humid weather. If it “acts up,” I just brush it back down again. However, it doesn’t get bushy, like it used to. I can live with reasonably controlled hair. Otherwise, I look like I’ve stuck my finger into an electric outlet. Using this product means I don’t have to use a straightening iron on my hair, which always damaged the ends, even if I was careful. For that alone, it’s worth the purchase. (However, I still think it’s awfully expensive…)
I’ve used this twice so far when blow drying my hair and I’m so impressed! I have very thick, long hair that gets frizzy easily and takes forever to straighten. After just blow drying with this I had compliments on how shiny my hair looked! Usually, by day 2, my hair needs to be clipped up as it starts to feel dry and needs a lot of straightening again, but having used this I was still wearing my hair down on day 3! And the results seem even better after the second use!
Works well, but must be with HIGH heat. This is my second time using this product and second time around my hair came out really nice, silky smooth. First time, that was not the case, but I used a different blow dryer. This product doesn’t work well if you don’t apply very high heat from the blow dryer. I used a DryBar blow dry brush the first time and it felt like it had a film and looked pretty dull, but that blowdry brush doesn’t get as hot as other and most traditional blowdryers. Second time I used a tradition blowdryer and it came out amazingly.Both times I followed instructions exactly as directed, only difference was the blowdryer. Thought I would share in case there are others that have done the same and had similar results. My guess is that a Dyson blowdryer would also not work great because they don’t get as hot either.Super high heat isn’t ideal for your hair, but it’s only necessary when you use the product, since it lasts 3-4 washes, the subsequent washes can be with whatever you normally use and your hair will look nice. You just need the extra heat with product application.

Makes Rough Hair Silky. I have naturally wavy (not in the best way) red hair. Even if I blow dry my hair straight, it just doesn’t lay right towards the ends. Even if it looks ok, the next day it’s back to being weirdly straight with fluff/frizz at the ends. This helps a ton with that problem and my hair lasts for days after (I don’t wash my hair every day). It makes it silky smooth. I’ve purchased one for my other home and have the travel size as well.Overall, it just makes your hair easier to blow dry, shiny, and lasts for days. Highly recommend!
