Sharp and retains it’s edge. I liked the light weight of the hoe and how well it sliced weeds, seems to be designed to glide right under the surface of the dirt and slice off weeds.That being said i had to do a bit of work to attach the handle.First: since the metal handle it has on it has a smooth rolled end so you won’t cut yourself, the very end has to be cut off to attach a normal hoe handle, I cut about 1/8 in off of the back and polished the cut end a bit with sandpaper so the hoe handle would fit in.Second: the fit was very tight to slide the handle in so I had to oil the end of the wooden handle and the inside of this metal handle it came with. Then it was still extremely tight so to actually get it slide into the handle I had to slam it down on concrete violently to get it placed (works best if you have the hoe head pushed on as far as you can by hand then spear the back of the hoe handle straight down into a concrete pad or block)Third: After it was placed I drilled a pilot hole in the metal and put a screw though so it would not slip out, then I discovered the angle of the hoe head to the handle was designed for hand use and way to steep to be used standing up with a long handle, so I had to clamp the metal shaft right above the flattened hoe head and bend the shaft into an angle that was suitable for a long handle, somewhere around 70/80 degree angle for me but it varies according to your heightThis only took about an hour and so far I and very happy with the performance of these little hoe heads.The four stars instead of five is because of the difficulty involved in attaching a handle
Needs fit & finish. Needs to get the burrs filed or ground off, suitable handles can be found at homedepot. Over all good geometry, very functional.
Sharp and effective. I live in Ohio where we have clay soil. It is NOT fun to dig or plant in. I am very happy with these hoes. I use the side points to break up clumps of clay and to dig and the flat side is phenomenal for cutting under weeds where they can be easily picked and removed. I have recommended them to friends. Great buy for me.
Weeds no more. I don’t usually review products but with a good handle this thing destroys weeds. If the soil is soft or if it’s more compact but wet from rain you can take out about any weed with it, crab grass and all. Would definitely recommend.
SHARP. This is a great replacement head for our garden hoe!
