From the Wonderfully written intro, in which Mr. Keon offers personal insights into his family members dealing with cognitive issues, to the resulting extensive research and ultimately to the reader, who gains great knowledge as to ways to help one’s self-this book is groundbreaking.As a person whose wife’s grandfather passed from Alzheimer’s, I took a real interest in the information presented here.Although the material covers so much, what I took away was: We can make choices to greatly reduce the chance of developing cognitive degeneration.In the end, it’s simple, really…eat right, exercise (both body and mind), and avoid toxins and overmedication, to name a few.But there’s so much more. The book offers a plethora of ways to improve and sustain brain health, from meditation to socializing (in person!) to playing a musical instrument or learning a new language. The bottom line is: USE THIS BOOK if you or a family member or friend is concerned about cognitive decline.Going further, Mr. Keon lays out the big picture as to what society and government can/should do to help reduce or, dare I say eliminate Alzheimer’s and Parkinsons’ altogether.This is a very important book, because, like cancer, AD and Parkinsons’ are becoming so prevalent, it touches almost all our lives, in some way.And herein lies some very good information as to how to help yourself and anyone you care about.

  3. VITAL information that applies to ALL OF US. Wow this book is blowing my mind. It’s filled with such important information that we all need to pay attention to in order to keep our health which is the most important thing we have. I usually prefer reading fiction books, but since my parents are getting older and I’m recognizing some memory issues in them , this title caught my eye. The book is infused with personal stories which really grabbed my attention (and appealed to my preference for narratives). Each page is filled with clear and easy to understand information about how to hold on to and improve our brain health. It’s an absolutely fascinating and crucial read for every single person. I’m going to be sending copies to family members and friends!

If you are interested in this subject having witnessed someone suffering the illness and wanting to know more, like many, I started Google around and read through some of the web pages but was frustrated to find in-depth and trustworthy information from the vast web. I then came across this book that’s “An Evidence-Based Lifestyle Program to Build Cognitive Resilience Reduce Your Risk of Alzheimer’s Disease”. I was interested in the evidence it may present and get myself a printed copy. I was shocked to find thousands of references to published medical articles and journals and could imagine how much time and effort researching all that by myself. I also find it easy to read even for an average Joe like me. For sure that some medical terms are not avoidable but it wasn’t full of jargon requiring a doctorate degree to decipher. I liked how it presented all the evidence systematically, to get into details of why and how they affect our bodies. Toward the later part of the book, it took all that information and suggested lifestyle changes we can do to minimize our chances of becoming one. I know it’s easier said than done, but every little effort might just be the ticket out. This book is a great way to know about Alzheimer’s and know that everyone can fight it.
