I recently purchased the COSORI Pioneer Food Dehydrator with 5 BPA-Free Trays (Model # CFD-N051-W), and I must say, it has exceeded my expectations in every way!Firstly, I used this dehydrator to preserve the mangoes from the tree in my front yard, and the results were simply amazing. The dehydrator worked flawlessly, leaving me with perfectly dehydrated mangoes that tasted just as delicious as the fresh ones. I couldn’t be happier with the outcome.One of the standout features of this dehydrator is its temperature control. Very useful. Never owned one before but it is working out really good. We have an indoor green house and we are learning to grow things, but when we harvest, there are too many things to eat all at once. This is a great way to make sure things to do not go bad!Still learning, but really easy to use and we can just check on things and take stuff out that is done and then turn it back on for the rest. Home growing means that things are all different sizes when harvested!It is very large, so make sure you have a place to keep it. We keep it in its box and only bring it out when there is something to harvest. I expect that to be about 6-8 times a year.
Get the original, not the “upgrade”. The original Cosori dehydrator is a great product, although a tad noisy. I ordered some extra trays for it and was surprised they were smaller, without the extra circulation around the trays. I don’t see how it can be an “upgrade” at a lower price, without the extra ventilation of the original, so I ordered a second “original” to get the trays and have a backup if it fails or if the company drops the original version.If they called the new cheaper one “entry” or “economy”, OK, but the best dehydrator I ever used is the original.
Works as expected. I’m new to using a dehydrator, but this thing has been very user-friendly. I’ve been making tons of jerky, veggie chips, and fruit chips. The recipes included are helpful, but I also find several others online. It’s very easy to clean and stores away in a lower cabinet nicely with my crockpot and fryer. I’m addicted to using this. If you’re looking for a food dehydrator, this one is great for the price.Also, I have heard others online say that they need to rotate the trays from top to bottom as they dehydrate food because their other machines do not perform well. That has not been the case with this unit. I have made several batches of meat, fruits, or vegetables, and I have been able to stack the trays once and leave them there for the duration of the process. I have been able to do this with foods that take anywhere from 5 – 20 hours, and this machine has been consistent.
It does what it says it will do. This little workhorse is so worth the money. The stackable nature of it’s design means you can really dehydrate a LOT of produce at one time. I would suggest, if you have to option, use it outside under a shelter so that your whole house doesn’t smellLike whatever it is you are dehydrating. It made quick work of my surplus tomatoes although I will say there was a bit of a learning curve about the correct temperature and time. Err on the side of higher temp to avoid fungi. A pinch of salt helps avoid that too.
