Excellent for corn tortillas but flour tortillas come out too thick, better as a pita bread press. The media could not be loaded. This 10” press is big and heavy and does a great job on corn tortillas with very minimal effort. I wasn’t as impressed with flour tortillas though, they just don’t get thin enough, they are more like pita bread and it works great for that. I did get the 10” so I could make thin flour tortillas, so I was a little disappointed. You can get them round with this press but you will still have to hand roll them to get the gossamer wing thin tortillas like at the taqueria. For corn tortillas, I found that I can get more uniform rounds and make them much faster using a small ice cream disher style scoop. They come out perfectly round and the flat side keeps them in place better, way more efficient then making a million little uneven balls. Your dough must be soft and pliable, many recipes I tried were way to dry and crumbly and required a lot more water, so be sure the dough is moist. This works with very minimal effort, you don’t have to put all your weight on the handle, just a gentle but firm press that’s it. This has a painted enamel like finish on cast iron so it won’t rust. It will chip away where the handle presses the outside of the plate, no big deal, just a little missing paint in a tiny spot. Also, expect quite a bit of play side to side where the handle bolts through but it doesn’t seem to matter and they all seem to do that. I do like this press, I’m still glad I got the 10” even though it doesn’t make thin flour tortillas because we do make a lot of flat bread and pitas and it’s great for that. This one is made in China, not Mexico.
Just what we needed. Our church decided to make fruit hand pies for a fundraiser. Our town was hosting 30K people overnight so we needed to make as many as we could the night before. I had a genius thought and wondered if a tortilla press would speed up the process…it did not disappoint! I ordered a few different types and this one was our favorite. This is very heavy duty and well made. The only flaw was we had put some duct tape across where the handle presses down or we had issues with the paint chipping off.
Great Press. I’ve always wanted to learn how to make my own homemade tortillas, but never knew how until I went onto YouTube and watched how others doing it. After watching several of these videos, I found that this tortilla maker was one of the top three mentioned and decided to get it. As such, I am not disappointed in my selection!
The best tortilla presser. I bought 2 other tortilla pressers one more expensive than this one and this was the only one that worked to make large tortillas. Its heavy but easy to use
An excellent purchase. I already own a tortilla press, but laughably flimsy in comparison with the ARC Texas 8″ tortilla press. This is a solid, sturdy device with good weight to it that presses out either flour or corn tortillas with ease. It took all of 15 seconds to attach the arm, and it was ready to use. This is an excellent piece of equipment at an excellent price.
¡RECOMENDADA. Estoy en usa Y me a costado encontrar una prensa que me sirva muy bien,Es De muy buen material, Tal y como se ve en las imágenes.
One of the best. This tortilla press is well made and heavy duty cast metal . The legs with the rubber inserts does help keep it in place while using it . Very easy to use . I did personally added some stainless steel washers to the handle so not to have too much play , but it’s fine without the washers . Did make corn tortillas and it worked perfectly . Just practice on the masa dough ball size to get the perfect thin tortilla. Also the parchment paper it’s ok for 3 -4 tortillas then it becomes wrinkled , so just use a one gallon ziplock bag and trim the zipper and sides to place the dough ball to press it with the tortilla press , Iam very glad I bought this press
Love it. As advertised, this is a heavy all metal tortilla press. Comes with paper to help the tortillas not stick. Definitely worth it. Product is durable, easy to setup and use.
Tortilla press. Impressive looking, nice enough to keep on my counter or stove. Heavy duty, sturdy. Comes with parchment paper. pressed corn tortillas the right size. flour tortillas are not as big, but they can always be rolled some more on the counter after they are pressed I will also use this for other things like pie crust.
So glad I didn’t return. My first attempt to make flour tortillas was disappointing. The tortillas were way too thick no matter how many times I turned them and pressed them. So I started the process of returning it, but I don’t give up easy. I started researching different web cooking sites and found that if I put round 10 inch silicone baking mats , one on top and one on the bottom my tortillas turned out perfect. So I recommend that you should invest in the baking mats if you like thin tortillas.
