  1. Very Smart Outdoor Light Controller. I have been wanting to buy a smart outdoor light controller for a while. I have a light-sensor switch to turn on the light for my flagpole from dusk to dawn–but it often turns itself on during cloudy days or when the plants grow too tall around it. I have wanted to get an app-controlled switch that can be programmed to know when dusk and dawn are and only activate during those hours.Since I already have a few Treatlife light switches and plugs already running in their app, I have been waiting for them to release an outdoor plug controller. I didn’t want to buy from another company and have to have multiple phone apps to control light devices. I’m happy they finally have this available. It is a reasonable size: 4 3/8” x 2 5/16” x 1 5/8” and sturdy enough. It has a solid mounting hold on the back that allows you to mount it onto a nail or screw head.Once I plugged it in, it was ready to pair with my existing Smart Life app. It was super easy to pair. I used my existing Smart Home app that has my other devices configured and it recognized the new plug and walked through the set up process which took less than a minute. It was mildly concerning that once configured, the Smart Life app told me the device was unsupported, that I needed to use the new Treatlife app. I downloaded the new app and found it works just about the same as the Smart Life app, with one notable exception: the new app does not provide “add to Siri” links for automation shortcuts. I contacted Treatlife and they said that the “old” Smart Life app works perfectly fine with the outdoor smart switch, so I have been using that app without any issues.I easily added On/Off actions for the plugs and added them to Siri, so I can just say “Hey Siri, outdoor lights on” to activate the switch. I didn’t test Alexa/Google Home integration as I just let Siri handle things for me. I also added it onto my “on at sunset” and “off at dawn” automation schedules.I did find one small concern. When connecting a circuit tester, I discovered that the hot and neutral lines are reversed. I contacted Treatlife support regarding this and they have promised to fix this in future manufacturing runs. Since I am only going to run some outdoor lights from the switch, it’s no big deal. But, if you’re running any appliances, you may want to see if there’s any concern about the reversed hot/neutral.The only limitation I can see is the range of my 2.4 GHz wifi network (it’s not compatible with 5 Ghz). I have seen some smart plugs that have dual output plugs which would be handy at times (thinking ahead to Christmas lights) but I am happy to stick with Treatlife–a name I have trusted thus far.

Amazingly useful! So convenient! Highly recommend. The media could not be loaded. I am so happy that I bought this smart dimmer for our porch string lights! All I wanted was a plug with on/off switch so that I didn’t have to plug/ unplug the wire with each time of use. When I saw the dimmer and smart options I gave it a try! This is so cool and you will know by watching my video! Feels like I should have bought it along with my lights. The remote control use through smart WiFi connection surprisingly works from anywhere in my house or even if I am away! My entire family especially the kids were in awe when we easily controlled the lights through the TreatLife app! The initial set up was super easy and the instructions were very clear! The device looks durable and weatherproof. Will update if any different.Lights at different levels created the moods for the different occasions! I definitely recommend using a dimmer to get the full use of the lights. LED lights (Solatec LED String Lights, Shatterproof ) didn’t even flicker once. TreatLife App has many features like to set timer, schedules, control multiple devices etc. After using the voice control, I wanted to go smart on more plugs and switches in my house. My Alexa is at a different location so I installed google voice + google home to use the voice control on my IPhone. I tried connecting to the Home app and Siri on IPhone and didn’t work. The package only says about Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant for voice controls and integrated fully. It is also very nice that the dimmer works both smart and manually. The on/ off switch on the dimmer itself can be used to power the lights on/ off. Dimmer feature can also be used manually by pressing continuously on the on/ off button until the desired level is achieved.

  3. Quality Build, Easy to Install, Setup, and Use. Great Buy. So good that I ordered a second for another set of lights, and may order a third! For those of you wondering, this does have a physical switch / dimmer you can use without your phone. There’s a single button that you tap to turn the lights on and off, or hold down to dim/brighten (it starts going one direction until it maxes out then goes the other direction).Wifi setup was very simple, and, while I haven’t looked into the fancier settings yet, the basic controls on the app more than meet my needs of manual on/off and a brightness slider. I’ve made use of the timer feature as well to make sure we don’t forget to turn the lights off after a night of partying. The construction seems solid and pretty rugged. I expect it will last a long time, even outside. I also like that it provides a slot to hook onto a screw or nail for easy wall mounting. My one suggested update is to have a longer power cord. Unless you have an outlet within about a foot of where you want this switch to be, you’ll need an extension. In my particular scenario, we had to run an extension along the side of the house. That extension goes to a triple outlet staked into the ground because I need at least 2 switches at this location and want to keep the connections off the ground to avoid potential issues with puddles. However, if I connect this switch directly to that staked outlet it will only be about 1.5 feet off the ground, which is pretty inconvenient for using the physical button. This means that I need to either live with that; buy and install another 3-6 ft outdoor extension, causing a setup of extension -> landscape outlet -> extension -> switch -> extension -> lights; mount the switch and leave the outlet hanging (ghetto and probably not 100% weather safe); or, hopefully, find a different cheap outdoor splitter that can be mounted to the wall right beneath the switch. I feel like the power cord should be 3-4 ft, which is long enough to go from the floor, where most extension cords reside, to a normal & convenient height to use the button.

  5. Affordable smart plug that was easy to program. My wife ordered a string of edison lights for our backyard. The Treatlife DP10 smart plug was recommended for outdoor light automation so we ordered it. I plugged the device into a wall outlet and used my phone to download the app from the QR code and was able to setup the device within a few minutes. Once it was tethered to my home router I plugged it into the outdoor cord. Worked great the first night and then we had a storm that caused my home power to “flicker”. This appears to have caused the DP10 to reset and lose the configuration as the light on the device was red instead of white. The remedy was simple, I went through the configuration again with my smartphone and then plugged it back in. No issues since. I have not experienced issues with rain water getting in and shorting the unit as some have suggested. I was able to integrate this plug with Alexa fairly easily. I saved the device as a light in place of a plug in Alexa. This then let me use some canned routines “Sunset lights” to turn lights on 5 minutes before sunset and a turn-off lights routine for late at night. So far no issues with Alexa integration. This is a solid smart plug for the price. Don’t just take my word for it check out the Possum looking at the edison lights in the third picture 🙂

Stopped working. I had the product for less than a year and it stopped working. However, Treatlife has a 24 month warranty and they were awesome to replace my product.

  7. Love the Smart Controller. Bought the TreatLife Smart dimmer to control my outdoor pool lights and I have loved being able put them on a timer and control them with my phone. I had a slight hiccup with the timer initially, but I worked with the customer service and they were extremely responsive, resolved my issue immediately, and I am a 100% satisfied customer.

  8. Great Customer Service. Don’t usually leave reviews, but their customer service was awesome to work with. While visiting a friend that had this outdoor plug on their patio lights, they told me where they ordered it and as soon as I got home, I ordered myself one and received within 3 days. Easy to set up and loved the convenience of turning it on and off with my phone. Went camping so unplugged it for a week and when I returned could not get it to work again. Spoke with their customer service and tried everything they suggested. I had the device for a good 6 weeks. They replaced it at no cost, and I am back to sitting out in the evening under the lights. Would highly recommend this plug!!

  9. Perfect. Works like a charm. We’re able to turn our string lights on & off as well as dim them – and all from an app on our phones! Even better than we expected.

  10. Awesome. I love this product! Getting more for other applications! Can’t go wrong!!

  11. I bought a string of Edison lights for patio and they were extremely bright, lit up the whole place like a football field! I attached this dimmer and now it’s perfect. Can be low light or bright and everything in between. Easy to use. I recommend!

  12. Love the manual control. So I got a different kind of smart plug and it would not connect to my Wi-Fi and I wasn’t about to unplug the router and do a bunch of stuff to try to get that product to work when I already have five cameras and everything else set up. I decided to get this one because I read in one of the reviews that it had a manual dimming button as well. So I ordered this one which was more expensive but on sale and it’s also very solidly built. I downloaded the app from China and it made a big deal about you “having to agree to the privacy and user rules and you must read them before you agree”. That made me nervous. I’ve been hacked a lot and of course you hear lots of stories. So where I normally don’t read, I read it says if you have problems or someone’s injured or there’s damage that occurs that you must incur all expenses if you are to try to obtain any kind of compensation from the company and you must do all of this with a company in China, then it says it gets your name and address and email address and phone number and the IP for your Internet and your nickname etc. by agreeing to it and then I figured out you can use it manually without hooking it up to the app and giving away your information. The other plugs I looked at did not have a manual dimmer so if you didn’t connect you were out of luck. I just have to not be lazy and go outside and touch the button and it turns on, off, dims great. Yes I am paying for a smart plug and I’m not using half of it (which I was kind of excited it would work with my Alexa ) but at this time I feel better about that. Maybe I’ll connect it later, maybe I won’t but it works and it works well manually .

UPDATED: Worked for about 2 years…but great customer service. Update: customer service just reached out and offered me a full refund on my original purchase following my review. I wasn’t upset and didn’t reach out to them or anything. And in fact I bought an identical replacement from them. Getting a refund for a 2 year old purchase I didn’t even request is great customer service! Thanks!Original review:It worked fine for 2 years 3 months. It was a little complicated to set up on Wi-Fi compared to other devices but it worked. It just stopped working out of the blue. The switch still works manually but the Wi-Fi won’t pair anymore and the app doesn’t recognize the device. I have to go outside in the elements and reach the plug behind a shrub outside to use the switch now. Pretty disappointed it broke so soon but it worked fine while it lasted.

  14. Over Three Years and Running Strong. Have had my backyard patio string lights plugged into this for over three years now. Never a single issue. Has withstood the Texas summer heat and every storm. Works perfectly and connects to the Google Nest for easy verbal commands.

  15. Works great. We have had this timer since 3/2021. I use my outdoor lights every night. Love that I can control the timer and brightness from my phone. Highly recommend!
