  1. Outstanding value, switches to multiple devices including to Android, not audiophile quality. These are workhorse Bluetooth earbuds that I like better than Airpods, with a 5 star rating in every category except sound quality – and the only reason I deducted one star is because Apple is selling stuff that is truly audiophile quality now. They are “almost” wireless which is to say, no wire to device but there is a wire between the earbuds – for completely wireless you’ll need Powerbeats at nosebleed pricing. No earhooks, but when fitted with the right size tips, they stay in place. You can keep them around your neck all day and only put them in when you decide to watch a video clip or take a call. They are comfortable for Netflix/Prime binging. They are hard to lose if you drape them over your neck. Apple Genius Bar replaces lost tips for free, but only in person. These sound better than Airpods, are a close match to Airpods Pro but without active noise cancellation, drape comfortably from the neck so they won’t get lost (ever had an Airpod mysteriously slip out of your ear and lost it?) and if you choose the RIGHT SIZE ear tip, have EXCELLENT SOUND. With an undersized ear tip – like I had at first – there is inadequate bass. With a proper air seal, bass is excellent in an honest way, not pumped up artificially like old-skool Beats, with equally honest, balanced, mids and highs (you won’t appreciate what they can put out until listening to some Dolby Atmos sound effects videos on YouTube). NOT fatiguing to watch videos for hours. Good sound stage and special effects with Atmos capable devices (Apple iPad/iPhone with A10 chip or higher, Fire HD 10 current edition, Fire HD 8 current edition) on Atmos encoded sound tracks (FWIW, Atmos is Dolby’s effort to provide 360 degrees of sound effect from just earbuds – and it’s surprising how well it “fakes” normal surround sound from multiple speakers, front and rear). (Also try Windows Sonic for Headphones, free in Windows 10, buried in sound card settings.)Where Beats Flex are outstanding is price – under $50. That’s equivalent to knocking $100 off the first-release BeatsX which rolled out at $149.95 in 2017. And convenience. Unlike conventional Bluetooth earbuds, which have to be endlessly paired and re-paired to use with different devices, Beats Flex will pair with ALL your iPhones and iPads and Macs provided only that they are signed into the same iCloud (Apple ID) account. On Android, you download an app, and so long as you have the app you don’t even have to be signed in under the same Google ID. With Windows 10 – sorry, conventional pairing and repairing. With a device you just used (or used yesterday), logging in and connecting is automatic – device power on, Flex power on, you are connected. If you move to a different device, whether Apple (with same Apple ID) or Android (with Beats app running), you first need to click on Connect (even if the device flashes a signal that it notices the Flex). It’s easier done, than described. You can also share audio with a friend’s Apple device – two headphones paired to one phone or pad. There are some controls, but all I ever use is the magnetic clip attachment between the rear of the two buds, to sleep and to pause playback on the iPhone or iPad. And the off button, when a session is over.Battery life is great. I can watch videos all day and night, the battery lasts longer than I do. Or, on saner schedule, go several days without a recharge. Compare that to 3 or so hours from some indie, cheapo (but good) Bluetooth earbuds (hook over ear style).Charges with a USB C cable (included) so one more cable to carry, but ultimately greater compatibility and fewer cable-wars (Apple is taking baby steps to kick Lightning to the curb and focus on C).HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. Cheap, good sounding, wireless, over-the-neck earbuds with Apple quality. Wow.Caution: I have some sync issues with VLC video playback (but not YouTube, Netflix, Prime). It’s easy to fix by adjusting the sync delay setting in VLC. I don’t have these sync issues with MPow Flame airbuds. I think the Flex emphasize audio quality over perfect sync, that or VLC and Flex don’t play nice with each other. Anyway its annoying but easy to fix, and I suspect the programmers at VLC will eventually take care of it.

  2. My Favorite Daily Use Headphones. When I’m on the go, at work, or just casually listening around the house these have been my go to headphones for a variety of reasons.Sound: They sound just fine. Not great, but not so bad that its too bad to listen to your favorite songs. I use Sennheiser HD600s at my desk and these are no where close but for a cheap set of bluetooth headphones they are totally passable. I normally listen around half volume which is plenty loud at least for me. Full volume is painful, I see other reviewers complaining about the battery life at full volume and I have to wonder what their hearing is like.Battery: These will get me though a 12 hour shift, admittedly not listening to music the whole time and through a few hours of YouTube or TV when I get home. They charge extremely quickly too when the battery gets low. If I forget to charge them over night I can throw them on the charger for a few minutes at work and be fine for the rest of the day. The USB C port is annoying, I have an iPhone so I have to have two cables, but I also carry a USB C external SSD so I just use the cable from that with my laptop.Noise isolation: These things SHINE at passive noise isolation. Its like you have reusable earplugs in that just happen to have drivers. I work on cars a lot and work in a machine shop, so hearing protection is something I need to be wearing most of the time and something I want to have easy access to at all times. If I don’t have my beats in my ears they’re around my neck almost all day so if I’m about to do something I think will be loud, blowing out a hole with an air hose for example, I can throw them in my ears in seconds and have a decent level of protection. I wouldn’t use these at a gun range but for me on a daily use basis they work great.Fit and comfort: When I’m running or working under a car the neck part likes to fall off. To get around this i put the headphones on upside down, with the usb port facing up, and then cross the ear bud cords in front of my neck so they still go in their respective ears. This is not how I normally wear them but it does work if I find myself in that situation. I had a set of airpods and they kept falling out of my ears, I switched back to these tethered style earbuds after one of my airpods fell out of my ears into a coolant tank. These stay in all day no problems because the majority of the weight is around your neck and not hanging out of your ears.Only part I dislike is the magnet in the buds, It attracts metal and gets stuck to stuff if you lean over. I don’t think they’re necessary but that’s a monitor complaint.

  4. Good – but not quite as good as the older version. These comments apply to Beats Flex released in late 2020.I got this item to replace a set I bought in early 2020 from another store. That set was great, but the left bud housing cracked when I fell asleep while wearing them. Besides that lack of durability and phone call quality, I liked the original product enough to repurchase it (at a sale price). Even so, I have some issues with the new set. My impressions are below.Connectivity: These Flex does not connect as easily to my phone nor remain connected as reliably for listening (see the phone audio quality comments below). I use these Flex with the same phone as before, but the performance aspect of the new Flex is not as good. I believe that the Android Bluetooth settings and the Beats app (Android) interact differently with the new Flex. Where the older Flex seemed to connect quickly, these new Flex require different user actions. Finally, on this point, I have not linked these to my Macbook; however, my old Flex worked flawlessly–and sounded great with the Macbook.Sound quality: These Flex sound good, but the bass is a bit wanting. I prefer a prominent low-end response, and the low-end on the Flex does not sound as good as the previous set. The highs and mid-range are clear, crisp, and not harsh or too bright, even at higher listening levels. I have not listened to Apple Spatial Audio content. The Dolby Atmos feature sounds about the same compared to the older Flex.Phone audio quality: These Flex sound great and are superior to the quality of my older Flex. The difference is dramatic. The connection during phone use is stable and quiet with little noise.Comfort: These Flex are less comfortable because the cord between the buds seems shorter or less flexible. I haven’t concluded yet. The ear tips also seem harder and do feel as comfortable. If I find my broken set, I will swap tips. My initial perceptions of (dis)comfort may be due to insufficient break-in time. If I determine this is the case, I will update this point.Battery performance: The new Flex provide long listening time. I have frequently gotten more than 12ours of non-continuous use between charges. I am pleased by the battery performance.Other features/Accessories: Flex comes with an assortment of 4 different-sized eartips and a USB-C to USB-C cable for charging Flex. The cable is much too short for my use, being only about 4-6 inches in length. I have not used the cable because it is inconvenient, and I do not own a USB-C charging adapter; however, I have a suitable adapter supplied with my phone. In the box, as they say, should be a longer cable and an appropriate adapter.

  5. I love these earbuds and they’ve become my go-to for hiking/backpacking, skiing, running, & horseback riding. I really like that they have the cord that loops behind your neck so that if they fall out of your ears you don’t lose one. My favorite feature has to be the magnets on the back of the earbuds so that you can snap them together like a necklace – it automatically shuts off the earbuds and lets me switch quickly and easily without worrying about losing them or having to pack them away in a charging case or something every time I take them off. Because the battery/bluetooth is in the cable part not the earbuds, they’re more like the size of wired earbuds and so they’re really comfortable to wear to bed or under my ski helmet since they don’t stick out. Battery life is great, really easy to connect to my iPhone or my Garmin smartwatch, and I love how when you quick connect them to iPhone you get a battery status update. They aren’t great at noise cancellation and the sound quality is good but not great, but they’re my go-to for any kind of active/athletic activity.

  6. Comfortable alternative for people who can’t seem to keep AirPods in. AirPods are wonderfully convenient, but they don’t stay in my ears very well at the gym. The Beats Flex are comfortable, light weight, and they stay in place. The Beats Flex do NOT have active noise cancellation, but the ear buds do block out ambient noise well. The fit is comparable to the Skullcandy Smokin’ Buds that I used to use before going wireless. With the exception of having to manually turn the Beats on and off, the connectivity with my Apple devices is as good as I experience with my AirPods. That said, I would rather take a phone call with the AirPods. I find the microphone on the Beats to be a little echoey. I hear too much of my voice and handling noise when I adjust the volume buttons.

  7. Great sound and comfort, but die after a year of continual use. I’ve purchased several of these as they are inexpensive, comfortable, and have really good sound quality. They are not sound cancelling or hook up for phone calls, but I’m not buying them for those reasons.Generally, one side just stops working. Why? Beats me, ha. This happed for the third or fourth time and I’m ordering a new pair after I write this review. For me, if I need to purchase every year, I’m good for that as I really love these. I use every night when I prepare for sleep and to help me sleep. So, they are used literally every day. I also use them during the day or driving when I want private music, podcasts, or YouTubeI highly recommend these.

  8. Easily paired to my iPhone and has a decent battery life. I like this headset because they will not fall on the ground and get lost like the little earbuds that are on the market. I like that they are bound together and hang around my neck like a lanyard. They are magnetic on the earbuds themselves so they stay together when they’re not in your ears. When they are separated from each other the lost magnetism triggers them to connect to the phone, if they are magnetically together around my neck they are in standby mode to save battery. Cool buds

  9. Great Features and Sound. I got this as a replacement set, as my husband loved the first pair so much, unfortunately our kitty also loved it. His favourite part is the pause when they click together. And the fact they are magnet. They fit nicely in his ears, have a great battery life, and sound amazing.I would recomend these if youre worried about loosing small in the ear ones but still want wireless.

  10. I bought these headphones for my teen son for a second time. He lost his first pair after owning them for 2 years. I have used them myself, the sound quality is great!! Both ears work perfectly. What drew me to these headphones was first of all the name brand. Beats is known to be of great quality, and secondly the idea of the magnet that makes them easy for my son to wear around his neck and hopefully he could keep better track of them. For that reason alone I recommend them. They have been through the washer and the dryer and still charge perfectly, and hold a charge for a really long time. They are super comfortable, and very durable! The look cool too. I highly recommend these head phones.

  11. overall a good bang for your buck. Gonna give these a tentative 5, although 4.4 would be more accurate.I had a pair of these a few years ago and they were great. Good sound quality, good battery life, feel like their built well, and fairly intuitive to use. However, they died suddenly after two years. They were fine, then suddenly they refused to connect to my phone. When messing with them the next day, they stopped powering on and nothing would happen when plugged in. Two years isn’t that bad considering they were only about $40 at the time, but still…really?I’ve tried a few other >$75 options since then and they’ve all kinda sucked in some way. I don’t like separate airpod style headphones. They’re finicky, annoying, and too easy to lose. So, back to the beats flex. These seem to be the best choice for a corded bluetooth headphone. They’re light, cord is flexible and resilient, but doesn’t get all tangled up. Sound on these is great for the money, battery life is good, though I only use them for 1-3 hours at a time. That hardly uses any of the battery, and I charge them after every use.I think a lot of people just have unrealistic expectations for bluetooth headphones. For $49, I think they’re well worth it. The list price of $69.99 I would say is too much, and would buy something else at that level.

  14. Great product, could be perfect with two additional features. First of all, these are great earbuds for sound quality, durability/battery life, connectivity, and overall convenience. I’m not a fan of the AirPod style earbuds because I don’t like to keep them in my ears constantly, and also they are easier to lose. Having these Beats hanging around the neck is incredibly convenient, particularly since you can set them to auto-answer a call when you disconnect the magnetic buds from each other. So, what could make them better? (If not close to perfect…)1. There needs to be a way to mute the microphone directly from the headset. (I suspect this could be done in firmware.) It would be incredibly convenient to be able to mute/unmute with a button on the unit instead of having to pull your phone out of your pocket or walk over to your laptop to mute.2. The buds will answer a call when you pull them apart, but they do not hang up the call when you snap them back together. Again, this means you have to pull your phone out to hang up (or hope the other party hangs up). There should be an option to hang up the call when you re-attach the buds to each other. These buds connect/disconnect seamlessly between my Galaxy Phone and my Mac laptop, I’ve had no issues switching them between the two devices. Having said that, they are so convenient I bought a second set so that I could leave each one dedicated to my phone and my laptop. One additional comment in case anyone was wondering: these are not good for running. The wire bounces up and down and will pull the buds out of your ears. Since I have a different product for running I’m not dinging the Flex for that. I use them exclusively for Zoom calls, phone calls, and listening to movies/music on airplanes. The audio quality is pretty good, and I’m a bit picky in that area.I hope these comments are helpful to potential buyers.

  15. Great earbuds for the price. Best $50 I’ve spent on ear buds. I recently got the Beats Flex Wireless Earbuds, and I’m thoroughly impressed! The sound quality is fantastic, delivering rich bass and clear highs that make my music and podcasts come alive. The Apple W1 chip ensures a seamless connection with my devices, making pairing a breeze. The magnetic earbuds are a great feature, allowing me to keep them neatly around my neck when not in use. They’re also incredibly comfortable to wear for extended periods, which is a big plus for me.Battery life is impressive as well—these earbuds easily last through my workouts and commutes without needing a recharge. Overall, the Beats Flex are an excellent choice for anyone looking for quality wireless earbuds at a great price. Highly recommend!

  16. Excellent Low-Cost Earbuds for the Apple Ecosystem. This is my 3rd pair of Beats Flex earbuds. I lost a pair in France a few years ago, and had another pair for at least 18mos before I finally sweat too much on them (I’m a cyclist) and apparently shorted them out. Nowadays I use Shokz for cycling, and I have Beats Fit and Air Pods for when I need noise-cancelling. So where do the Beats Flex fit in?I love these earbuds for conference calls and watching TV (on Apple TV) while lounging around the house. You can wear them around your neck and simply pop the earbuds in whenever you need them. Due to the Apple W1 BlueTooth chip, once you connect the earphones to any of your Apple devices, you can instantly connect to ANY of your other Apple devices, so it’s astonishingly easy to transfer from your iPad, to an iMac, to your phone or Apple TV. And they’re so inexpensive, you don’t need to be particularly concerned about losing them.As always, the sound quality is quite good, and now that they charge via USB-C, you can plug the Beats Flex in for 15 minutes and they’re ready to use. These earbuds fill a very specific niche, especially for Apple users, who can benefit from the W1 chip. Highly recommend for TV, conference calls, or simple everyday use.

I have tiny ear canals and these work pretty well, sound is good enough for everyday use. I have tiny ear canals and am always on the lookout for earbuds that fit my ears and don’t hurt me. I have really enjoyed these. They are light and comfortable. The sound is quite good and certainly is good enough for everyday use. They charge up quickly and go quite a long time on a charge. My ears don’t hurt with these! They are well worth the price I paid.

  18. works well with iphone, good sound, comfortable and most importantly, MUCH harder to lose. literallly lost airpod bud on day 1. tried flex and haven’t looked back. good isolation, good bass, easy to set up and use. may not look as cool but much more practical for me. recently bought buds for noise cancellation while on flights – works very well for that, but again, someone bumped me from behind while i was reaching for my bag overhead and one side fell out. i had to wait for everyone to deplane to search under the seats. luckily i found it, but kind of a hassle. flex are also so affordable! less than the replacement cost of 1 airpod bud. one negative – when i first started wearing them (for long periods) i noticed slight ear infection symptoms, probably from not letting my ear naturally breath and drain normally which may not be a problem with the loose fitting airpods and earpods.
