  1. Ooo Shiny Object December 7, 2022 at 12:00 am

These are awesome. These things are a game changer. I’m on VoIP conference calls daily, and the Shokz OpenMoves are exactly what I’ve been needing in a single headphone + mic device for someone that wears glasses.Pros:o Wireless – Bluetooth 5.1, easy pairing and operationo Bone induction sound – no more ear fatigue from having ear buds in for a long time – no more compression on the ears from on the ear headset – no more sweaty ears from over the ear headphone cans – no more uncomfortable pressure from glasses frames being squeezed by the headphones/headset – you can still hear everything around you because your ears aren’t coveredo rechargeable battery using a USB-C connector (no messing with micro/mini USB connector orientation)o sound qualityo super comfortable – you can have these on all day and not even noticeConso Microphone is a tad sensitive. This can normally be addressed by lowering the input level using your computer’s sound settings. Some applications (like Google Meet) have a self-adjusting microphone function, and if you can’t disable that you might run into issues. For example, while on a Google Meet call, I can see the microphone input level slowly adjusting down as the microphone picks up sound. Eventually the microphone input level goes low enough that Google Meet will automatically just mute the headset.o battery life on OpenMove isn’t as good as the OpenComm version (6 hours vs 16 hours), nor does it support fast charging. I haven’t had any issues with the battery dying on me while in use though.o The included carry pouch doesn’t really offer much in the way of protection (e.g., dropping or crushing). While this is isn’t an issue for my use case, where they’ll be either in use or sitting on my desk, if could be a con for you. For example, if you’re looking to put these in a backpack or jacket pocket while on the move, be aware that the carry pouch will only protect against scuffs or scratches not impact damage.Overall, the headphones feel extremely well made, look very sleek (there are no ugly seams or fasteners exposed), and sound quality is surprisingly good.I would highly recommend for anyone who: o wears glasses o needs to still be able to hear nearby sound while in use o gets ear fatigue using earbud headphones o doesn’t want to waste a USB input on the computer in order to have a microphone (e.g. a Mac Mini doesn’t have an internal microphone nor does it come with a mic/line-in port)

  2. I haven’t used any bone-conducting headphones before, so this is not a comparison, I don’t know how they rate next to other similar products or others in the Shokz range. My verdict: I recommend these headphones. I am glad I got mine.Pros:• Overall good quality, and accurate to the product description.• Decent audio quality (surprisingly). Feels like you’ve got background music for your life.• If you don’t have sensitive ears, they’re pretty unnoticeable.• They come with a protective carry pouch, and stickers for customisation.• Great for calls or music when you need to use earplugs (or any similar in-ear loud noise relief), or when you need to pay attention to your surroundings.Cons:• The jump between volume notches is massive (a common problem in Bluetooth audio devices).• It’s hard to hear at max volume in noisy environments (though earplugs mitigate this).• By contrast, the built-in voice/beep is startling & loud.• If you have sensitive ears, the way they sit behind your ear + on your face gets uncomfortable over time.My thoughts:I worried that these were just an overpriced speaker that sits outside your ear, but they’re not like that. It’s genuinely hard to hear unless it is on you, and when it is on you, it’s surprisingly clear. Bone conduction is pretty cool!It sounds like having background music akin to a movie or game, where it’s there but you can still very clearly hear everything else around you. Really great for anyone who wants music but needs to remain social/pay attention/listen for potential danger in their surroundings. They greet you when you turn them on/pair them/turn them off, and beep when you press any of the buttons. These built-in sounds are REALLY loud compared to my music, oof. I pull them away from my ears a bit before I press buttons. They also suffer from the sadly common Bluetooth audio device problem where the volume jump between notches is massive, and in some situations it can be either too high or too low. Even at max volume, because it’s just vibrating sound against your face, it’s really hard to hear in noisy places like shopping centres or heavy traffic. However, you can mitigate that using earplugs or similar. I went to a store yesterday and wore these with my Loops Engage (HIGHLY recommend for people with audio processing issues), and it was amazing; the Loops dulled the noisy background environment, and I could hear my music clearly AND converse with my wife without issue. It was an experience that I just cannot get with other earphones or headphones. They don’t slip, slide, or fall. The band at the back can’t be adjusted – for everyday use they sit well, but they’re a little annoying if you’re looking up/down a lot, and difficult to keep in place if you’re lying down or using a head rest. For people with smaller heads, you’ll probably want the (more expensive) version with the smaller band. They’re light enough, and if you don’t have sensitive ears, you can just set-and-forget them.People who use eating aids or similar things that need to loop over behind your ears will find them obstructive at best, incompatible at worst. They’re fine for anything else though, like glasses, hats, and masks.I have quite sensitive ears and can’t wear earbuds, headphones, masks with ear loops, etc. for more than a couple of hours some days. Some things I noticed: – By design (so they don’t fall off), the buds put a gentle pressure on the parts of your head that they’re resting on. It’s not immediately noticeable, but when you wear them for a while it feels like a lot. – They’re designed for wear with glasses/masks/etc., but keep in mind that anything that touches them puts pressure on them, which means more pressure on your ear/face. – The placement of the main body right behind the ear gets uncomfortable in a similar way to masks with thick/tight ear loops. I find that I’m adjusting it constantly. – However, wearing masks with these is WAY more tolerable than wearing masks with over-ear headphones. – Being out-of-ear is really great for the parts of my head/ears that get super painful with regular earphones or headphones! My ears also don’t get hot at all.I haven’t had enough time with the call/mic features to really comment but they seem decent to me. The mic pics my voice up and as long as I’m in an area where I can hear the Shokz well enough, I can hear the other person well enough. I may update this review if this changes.

  3. Good set of Bone Conduction Headphones. First off, these are bone-conduction headphones. They are not “noise canceling.” Some people just don’t seem to get that.I work at a metal fabrication facility and these type of headhpones have been OK’d for use on the production floor precisely BECAUSE they allow us to hear what’s going on around us as well as putting in hearing protection and still have the headphones functional. I’ve tried other bone conduction headphones and they struggled with the noisy surrounding environment to the point I couldn’t use them because they didn’t have sufficient volume. These headphones are able to function despite multiple welders, steel being hammered and dropped, etc. In short, they still allow me to hear despite a very noisy environment. What I listen to most are “Spoken Word” items such as podcasts and audiobooks and streaming talk radio. I do not use these primarily to listen to music so cannot comment from experience on the sound quality for listening to music. My guess is that they would be “functional.” They would work and you can listen to music while doing other things. But if you need to hear what the “3rd violin is playing”…maybe bone-conduction isn’t the best way to go.PROS–Volume. They do have the capacity to overcome a noisy environment and still allow me to hear what is being said as well as allowing me to hear when others are talking to me without having to move/adjust the headphones.–Lightweight. These things are comfortable. Not as heavy as other bone conduction headphones I’ve used.–Secure. They stay in place really well. While certain head positions will cause them to slightly move I have had other bone conduction headphones that if I look up actually fell off. These do not do that.–Comfortable. These things are really comfortable to wear. I use them at work for most of my 8-10 hour work day and they have not caused me any discomfort whether due to getting sweaty spots where they set on my jaw/ear area, or just irritating the way other headphones (both bone conduction and non-bone conduction) have in the past.–Non-noise cancelling. This may seem like an odd “pro” but for me it is. I have a set of Beats noise-cancelling headphones for when that is useful. But most of the time I would rather have some of my hearing faculties. Even nonactive noise cancelling over-the-ear/on-the-ear headphones do have some noise canceling which I sometimes don’t want.CONS–Limited Bluetooth Range. I have had other bluetooth headphones (non-bone conduction) that had much better range. I could leave my phone on a charger and move all around the house with no loss of connection. These are somewhat more limited. However, if I have my phone with me or within a room or two I generally have little/no trouble.–Vibrations. As I said above, I sometimes need to use these at close to maximum volume. When I do this I can sometimes “feel” the vibration as a buzzing that will “tickle” my jaw/ear area. My guess is that this is not really a “flaw” but, rather, a function of it needs to vibrate fairly intensely to create the kind of volume I’m asking for. In normal use in the house or in my office I usually do not need the volume NEARLY high enough to cause this sensation.CONCLUSIONWhile there are undoubtedly bone conduction headphones that are superior to this I consider these to be really solid “entry-level” headphones. I can vouch that they can handle an environment that requires hearing protection if in the environment for long periods of time. I don’t see why they wouldn’t work really well in a non-noisy work/home environment or working out in the gym. I would highly recommend these. I got them on Prime Days for ~$50-60. Their normal Amazon price is $70-80. If these broke I would seriously consider paying $70-80 to replace them.

  7. Way beyond expectations. After reading great reviews, I decided to give these unusual earbuds. a try. I admit that I’m an avid headset buyer. I’ve spent way too much time and money trying to find the “perfect” headset or buds for my biking, noise cancellation, hiking, swimming, audiobook listening, and dog walking. So I have plenty of experience with just about every brand of earbuds or headsets, in every price range for decades. OK that said, here’s what’s GREAT about these earphones:1. Since they’re not inside the ear…unless you want them to be… they’re very comfortable to wear.2. They turn on and sync very quickly3. They tell you battery power by touching the +- buttons4. You can call out by holding the Multi-use button down for a couple of seconds (not explained in the instructions.) And answer calls with just a touch to the same place.5. They’re lightweight and click together magnetically when off of the ears. So you can wear them around your neck comfortably and safely while not using them.6. While driving or walking/running you can still hear sirens and other important sounds (like hubby requesting a beer, please.) And do that without any loss of sound or clarity from the buds.7. They charge quickly and last MUCH longer than promised in the descriptions.8. They are wearable while napping or sleeping, if you just move one of the earpieces up and away from your ear. Very nice for listening to audible books or podcasts while lying down.9. Very good sound for music and the spoken word and the mic works great. Not sure why others didn’t think so.10. No cords to get tangled up in or that can fall off your neck.11. They’re offered at a very fair and reasonable price12. And one more benefit for those who have snoring sleeping partners, you can wear wax earplugs to drown out the snores, but still hear whatever you’re listing to on the buds. That’s because the sound is transported through you bones, not your ears. Very cool!!! At least for me.The Cons: (none a big deal to me.)- They’re not noise canceling. Well duh! They don’t cover the ear. So I wear over-the-head phones when in the gym.- While a very good sound range, these are not the best earphones for really rich, base music. But Little Richard’s “Tootie Fruity” sounds pretty good.

  8. Good sound with no ear fatigue. I will start by stating that these headphones in no way deliver the same quality as in the ear or over ear headphones, whether they be wired or bluetooth. Especially if you are picky about sound quality and whatnot. However, being someone that works in a loud environment and has to use earplugs, these are a fantastic solution to being able to hear my phone while protecting my ears. The earplug and headphone combo actually helps out the sound quality of the headphones to me by blocking other sounds that overshadow the headphones and improve sound clarity. I’m mostly using it so I can hear when my phone gives me notifications, but when I do listen to music at my work, these work very well. They are also comfy enough that when I do remove my earplugs for my break/lunch/etc, I just leave them on and I still use it while I surf the web or use Youtube. There are also times when I use them outside of work. They work great by giving me the chance to listen to music/notifications while still being situationally aware, like at the grocery store or doing house chores.Best of all, no ear canal fatigue you would normally get from using in the ear buds. I have a couple of older folks that I recommended this product since they hate using regular earbuds due to ear fatigue/pain.No complaints about battery life or functionality. They haven’t died on me when I’ve used them (I charge them when I feel like it) and the function button on the left side does just enough for me.

  9. I just got these, so I still need to play around to see if there’s any glitches. But so far so good.Very comfortable! I’ve worn them for about six hours straight and they just get a little sore next to my ears. But they stay in place and fit really well. I can lean back in my wheelchair and When I walk with my walker they don’t fall off like earbuds do.What I like about these is that they don’t block out sound. They leave your ears open so you can still have conversations with people, or if you’re riding a bike or taking a walk you can hear if there are traffic Nearby, or if someone is trying to get your attention. Great for walks, business meetings, and other things. I am actually visually impaired. So I use something called a screen reader on my phone. This means that all buttons, notifications, text, and anything else that is visually on the screen gets read out loud by a synthetic voice. I don’t always want people around me to know who I’m messaging or what Social media I’m browsing. So having these as an option is wonderful.I can be playing my Spotify playlist, listening to an audiobook or a podcast, but also hear if someone is approaching me. I can sit around the campfire and be browsing my Facebook, but still have conversations with my friends around me without them having to hear my phone talk on and on.These stay charged for a super long time! I only have to charge them maybe once a week. And that’s with heavy use. The sound quality is decent, not a lot of base or Chrispness but for, $99 you really can’t beat it.The next thing I have to test however if it works with phone calls. If it does then these are perfect! I did go on discord, which is an audio chat app for gamers. And I played word games with my friends and everyone could hear me and I could hear them perfectly. 👍🏼 would recommend

  10. Muy buena audición

  11. Fantastic for runners. I was so tired of spending copious amounts of money on headphones that are either garbage, fall apart after expected usage, or that cause ear fatigue. For around $50 these are great quality! The sound quality is great for the bone conduction type of headphone. No these don’t have noise cancelling features, so if that’s what you’re looking for then I suggest not entertaining the idea of ANY bone conduction products.I have to condition for 2 mile timed runs, at a minimum twice a year, for my job. So a better part of the year, I’m running to practice. After using chunky, not to mention heavy, Bose over the ear headphones, 2 pairs of Bose wireless in ear headphones and a pair of AirPod Pros, these budget friendly headphones are exactly what I’m looking for!!The buttons are super easy to navigate, the headphones are super light and easy to wear with a hat, a headband, etc. These are also great for using when you have to wear any PPE in the ear canal but can’t wear in ear earbuds! If you are tired of spending $150 or more on headphones, go with these and be sure to purchase the two year warranty plan. It will literally pay for itself within the first 10 uses! The vibration does take some getting used to but it’s no different than any other type of headphone.Seriously, love these headphones and it’s worth every cent! Hope this review helps!

  12. Comfortable, and you can hear. Bought these headphones so that I could hear my coworkers while listening to my music. Product is a solid quality has lasted with my children bending them, being dropped and having taken some beating. I’ve never tried bone induction headphones before so I was a little nervous to try them but the sound quality is great! They fit wonderful and last more than a full 8 hour shift of work. I Would definetly recommend. The only thing I would say I have disliked about the product would be How much the wire that goes around the back of my head sticks out. I like to wear beanies and if I cover it with my beanie it pushes it out of place and i can no longer hear the music to well. It also can be hard to hear your music if there is a lot of loud noises, like a vaccume or loud machinery. So if you work in a noisy environment it might not be the right product for you. Other than that would recommend 100%

  16. Great, as long as you know what you’re getting. This have several advantages over other headphones types. The open ear is great when you need to hear around you. They are super comfortable. I can even sleep with these on as a side sleeper. (You feel them, but not enough to hurt). And they are so light and comfortable, I can wear them around the house and forget I have them on – similar to a pair of glasses in weight and comfort. I’m even able to wear these while wearing professional safety equipment like eye or ear protection, and they still work. However, these are not for awesome sound quality. You can hear and understand videos just fine. You can sing along with your favorite songs. They work great while I’m working outdoors even over power equipment (you do have to turn them up though.) But this is not for an audiophile. You will not get all the highs and lows, you will certainly not feel bass in your chest. (In fact, you’ll feel it in your temples as a vibration if you have them up too loud, which is a awkward feeling). Also – funny weird quirk – if you want to hear the bass better. You can put your fingers in your ears and it actually gets louder, though more muffled. So if you’re thinking these are going to be amazing sound quality, you’ll be disappointed, but for “good enough” sound quality in a lot of places that other headphones won’t go, these are the ticket.

  17. Impressive. I was somewhat skeptical when I first read about these headphones. So I decided to give them a try. I went ahead and ordered them and was not sure what kind of sound quality I would get what I like about these headphones is the size and flexibility. They also have a great quality and weight. These headphones essentially are controlled by three buttons, which are simple to use. I work in a manufacturing environment where I take callsBut also have to listen to what’s going on on the shop floor. These headphones support everything I needed the sound quality was good but wouldn’t say it’s the best. I feel the vibration on my ear slightly, but nothing that would cause any discomfort for me. I could see discomfort if the volume was maxed out for some people. As far as the weight on my head , they are light but it took me about a day to get use to the wearing headphone off of my ears. I like the bone conductive technology and they work for certain environments. These don’t not isolate noise as I’ve mentioned so understand what your buying. After wearing for so long , they could cause discomfort at the top side of my ear. So I don’t wear them for long periods, the surround near the ear does not allow for much adjustment. The value for the money isn’t bad , however I did get these on sale :-).

  18. Great for listening to your music and the world around you. I really enjoy these headphones. I was gifted a pair and ended up buying another to keep at the office. It’s perfect to still be engaged in an office environment or for working outside when you still want to be alert to your surroundings.I find them comfortable to wear for long periods. I’m able to wear them over my hair, under my hair, or with an updo. There’s some space between the back of my head and the band, so I’ve got room to move them over or under a ponytail/bun. I assume folks with bigger heads than mine will also be able to use them. The battery life is pretty good and the charge up faster than my bluetooth earbuds.

  19. So pleased I found these. This was recommended by a good friend and business owner. I never see him not wearing his. So I bought one for me and one for my wife.We absolutely love these “bone buds”.The sound is perfect. The fit is really good. Bluetooth connection was quick and seamless. I was very surprised by how easy it was to connect. It’s something I can wear all the time and listen to my phone as well as any conversation around me – if I want. This is easily the best ear phones I have.Would definitely buy again if the need ever arises.

  20. Cannot love these more. I bought these 2.5 years ago and they are still working as good as they did the day I got them! The battery life is fantastic, I have no complaints about the sound quality and they are quit comfortable. As someone who has a sensory processing disorder I have always struggled with earbuds and headphones. These works perfect for me and I often forget they are there! Great product and great price!
