  1. May not last long, but my shepherd loves it. I have a German shepherd who loves the pool. We live in a desert, so it’s a great way to keep him active in the summer. Previously, I would use the orange Chuckit! balls for pool play because they are very durable and they’re his absolute favorite, but he would have to bob a lot to grasp them which left him snorting up a lot of chlorine water. I found this product and felt it would be much easier for him to snag from the water. After two hours of play it held up pretty well. But I am worried it won’t last long. He loved it, and had a blast fetching it over and over but he clamps down pretty hard when grabbing it. With his large teeth and strong bite, it made a lot of popping sounds as he would swim it back to the steps and readjust his hold on it. He punctured it quite a bit, but it hasn’t fallen apart yet. Some of the stitching is coming undone on the blue ends and they are very weak. It may last longer if you can sew. When he gets it out of the water he does squeeze it as if trying to squeak it, but he’s good at stopping when I tell him to. It probably wouldn’t last an hour if I let him chew it and he’s not even one to destroy toys. There’s only been a few toys that have broken from him playing and it’s almost always because his teeth puncture it and the stuffing starts falling out. Once this happens our golden retriever will take it and rip it to pieces. This one he is not allowed to have without supervision and only in the pool because it definitely won’t last. Our golden actually hates the water, so we don’t have to worry about her tearing it up.If you have a dog with a strong bite, or one that loves to chew, I’m not confident this will hold up very well. But I still really like it and it makes a great water toy. It’s bright, and floats well. It was easy for my shepherd to grab onto without losing it. He loved it and wasn’t very happy I took it from him when we headed back inside. If this one falls apart too soon, I may have to find a more durable pool toy.My camera was dead, but I managed to get some pictures from my phone. I included some photos after coming back inside showing the punctures and the broken stitching on one end after 2 hours of play and limited chewing. The damage was mostly from him just grabbing it from the water as I did not let him chew it outside the water for very long.Update 5/22 – added some photos after about 6 more hours of use. It fell apart around the tag and the inside ended up slipping right out. My shepherd ended up still fetching just the inside. I’m sad that it fell apart so quickly and will have to find something that won’t unravel with such a short time of play.

Doggy paddling will not sink this toy! BEST water fetch toy of the many we tried. The media could not be loaded. As we just recently received the SMALL NEON GREEN/BLUE version of this item, this product review is for the toys ability to float and be seen & fetched easily in the water, not it’s durability. We have a 2 yr old 15 lb shih tzu who we are training to swim in our pool. She obviously wants to get in with us while we are swimming but gets nervous when we try to coax her in. The only way we could convince her to take the plunge was by throwing one of her favorite toys (limited to those which floated) in. The problem was as she doggy paddles she would force the toys underwater and then become very frustrated and fatigued quickly as they would often pop back up behind her, out of her field of vision. We tried KONG Air Dog Squeakair Birthday Balls Dog Toy, Medium, Colors Vary (3 Balls) (same size as regular tennis ball) and while they would float as soon as she reached the ball when she would try to bite it, it would just float away because her mouth is too small to get a grip on the ball without the resistance of the edge of the pool- or my hand. They would also stay full of water days later. We tried a slightly smaller kong KONG Squeezz Jels Pig Squeaking Dog Toy, Medium (Colors Vary) which I thought was small enough but had the same problem. We then tried the KONG Squeakair Tennis Ball with Rope Dog Toy, Medium, Yellow but while it worked better because she could capture the rope, she would still force the ball underwater and it took a while to pop back up. The only toy that only slightly worked was our blue Kong Wubba Assorted Colors Puppy but it didn’t float very high and it got very dirty when wet (she decided to bury it when she was tired of swimming.) She would still accidentally force the wubba under while swimming. We also tried a rope/ball combo from the dollar store which eventually just sunk. Not so with this toy! Today is day 4 of pool training and she never kicked this chuckit bumper underwater, not even once! It floats very high on top of the water and it seems easy for her to see. She seems to enjoy fetching this toy and we even ended the training while she was still gladly fetching and full of energy, even after fetching many times. As I have read previous reviews we are keeping this as a “water only” toy and while we let her play with/chew it for a few moments after she retrieves it, it is not meant to serve as a chew toy or for non supervised play. So far it seems durable and HIGHLY functional as a floating retrieval tool. Will update review at the end of summer or if she manages to destroy it sooner

  6. Nice dog toy. So we bought this for our rescue puppy thinking he would love to play with this at the lake. He’s not a water dog. So we play with it in the backyard and it’s held up with yard play through tug of war and fetching games. The outer ends are a little roughed up but we watch him while he’s chewing. As a throwing toy, the little nylon rope helps a lot with distance. The middle orange part seems very durable for little pup teeth. He likes it enough well to keep to play fetch in the yard.

  7. My Labrador & I love this toy for the Lake! EASY to see if in Neon Orange. I’m giving this 5 stars, but rated the Durability & Sturdiness as “4” stars because we haven’t had it long enough yet to know. The only Negative so far is that this advertises a Neon Orange color, but I was sent a light green & blue which she can’t see in the lake! I went to return it because we already have her Lake Fetch sticks for Free (literally wooden sticks that float). The company contacted me & instead of us Just returning it, they just exchanged it for the color we wanted. Thank you! This is a great floating dog toy! My Labrador loves it! We usually have her favorite sticks in the back trunk for the lake. We still have her favorite floating sticks for the lake, BUT this is SO MUCH EASIER to SEE (IF Neon Orange color!), especially at certain times of the day! It is lightweight & easy to carry. It floats perfectly. Easy to throw far for her! We love the rope on the end too!ANOTHER PLUS! This is SOFT so easier on her teeth! She has had 3 teeth pulled due to issues with partially torn teeth & gums from chewing too hard (probably from hard toys & chew sticks/chew bones when she was younger, (but after her adult teeth came in) – per the vet). I Never knew that hard bones were bad for dogs teeth! They always advertise that they help clean their teeth naturally.I will update the Durability & Sturdiness rating after we have used this for awhile.

  8. Our dog loves it. Easy to throw. Floats well. Very durable. Our dog starts going crazy when he sees me got out this toy because he knows we’re going for a swim. He is an aggressive chewer and it’s still together after a summer of play! Write your dog’s name on it because it’s likely other dogs at the lake will have the exact same toy! 🙂

The best water toy for retrieving hands down. I’ve been using this bumper for over a decade (I’ve ordered multiples) with my dogs so I have plenty of experience. This is the best water toy for retrieving breeds or any dog who likes to swim. I can throw this further then all the others bc of the rope attached to one end. Twirling it by this rope and releasing it will send the toy flying out over the lake so my best friend can happily retrieve it over and over (and over) again. My buddy looses his mind for this bumper and nom noms it repeatedly as he swims back to me over 50 times a session. Guaranteed to get your lab, doodle, poodle, shepherd (my shep adored it too) or any other breed that loves water exhausted so you can enjoy the rest of your day knowing Coco got a workout. It’s durable enough but I only let B have it when we’re at the lake and that makes it all the more special. When I see other ppl using sticks to get the same effect I feel sorry for their dogs. Not all sticks are okay for a dog’s mouth but also you can’t throw them as far and they’re not soft yet durable. Don’t be cheap with your peppers! Get him/her one. I recommend the neon green color over the orange bc it’s easier for dogs to see in the water. Happy dog plunging into the lake!

  10. Doggie loves it. Really fun toy. Floats and works as expected. Not indestructible but it did take a couple of weeks to destroy

  16. Great for my dock diving dogs. I do dock diving with my Belgian Malinois and this product is perfect for that. It floats great and is easy for the dogs to see. It also has enough weight that I can throw it pretty far. So far it has been one of the best floating fetch toys I have and has held up really well with the Malagators!!

  19. Great Floating Throw and Pull Toy Forr Dogs. My dog loves this toy—we play with it daily, and it gives her a great workout. I appreciate that she carries it by the rope, keeping the float free from drool. The only downside is that the rope eventually wears out; this is the third one I’ve bought.
