Good cheap tortillera. Doesn’t flat them per thin as I wish it did and you can tell it’s a little cheaply made but serves the purpose of flattening out the dough to make tortillas or tostones! It’s good for the price
Works Wel. I purchased this press to make smash burgers and it makes them well.I put an 8″d parchment paper on the bottom press plate, put a 2oz ball of 80/20 on the parchment, then another parchment on top of the ball. Squish the ball till it’s 1/8″ thick. Get 8 patties out of 1 lb of 80/20. Then I put the stacked parchments in a zip lock then into the freezer for an hour or so.I heat the frying pan to medium high, pull the parchment off one side of a frozen patty, slap it down into the pan and peel the 2nd parchment off. Because the patties are so thin they can be flipped in about 1 to 1-1/2 mins, then put the cheese on and cook for another 1 to 1-1/2 mins.I have not used this press for tortillas yet but after seeing it’s performance with 80/20 I believe it will work well for flour and water. You can get the 8″ parchments here:https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07GQZ8Y6F?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_detailsHaving said all of that, there is a minor issue. There are 2 points on the handle and the top press plate where intense pressure and friction occur. The whole press is painted with a thick light gray paint.Where the handle and top press plate meet the paint will quickly wear off and could possibly get in your food. I used a rotary tool with a sanding sleeve and removed all of the paint in those areas. I don’t expect that to be a problem any more.
La compré por q quería hacer empanadas. Pero no me salió… el material es bueno vale.la.pena comprarla
First Time Tortilla Maker. I’m no expert, but this item moves around on the countertop a bit. I think it’s fine for making a couple of tortillas, but a heavier press would be more efficient for larger batches. There’s also an issue with the finish. It scrapes off when pressing the handle down. That means there’s paint flakes, visible or microscopic somewhere in the vicinity of the dough. Proceed with caution.
Must have for smash burgers. Bought this to facilitate my new favorite dish – smashburgers. Couple this with some inexpensive round parchment papers and you’re off to the races. Cost effective, lightweight and durable enough for the task. Would buy again and highly recommend.
