Fast — turns ice into true “snow” very quickly. While slightly noisy, it is quite fast at “shaving” ice into snow-cone consistency. Thus, the noise is only an issue for a very short burst. I’m using it with ice from a refrigerator ice maker (-2° F, “cubes” are rounded, about 2-1/2 inches long by 3/4 inch wide, with one side flat and the other curved to fit the ice maker tray). The hopper holds more than a dozen of these “cubes” which are pulverized into snow within a 5 or 6 seconds. The snow blows out a hole in the bottom of the hopper — and it’s wise to hold the “hub cap” bowl slightly to the right, tilted toward the left (and rotating the hub cap so it doesn’t overflow) to efficiently catch the snow as it blasts out from the spinning blade. Residual “snow” melts fairly quickly, dripping out of the hopper, so use of a small towel is needed to mop up and/or absorb the drips as the final bits melt. The safety features keep fingers away from the speeding cutter, and only permit the blade to begin spinning when the pussier-flap-cover is within the top edge of the hopper. With reasonable care (i.e. don’t do anything incredibly stupid, like sticking a finger in the exit hole while the machine is operating) it appears to be quite safe. The zinc castings and chromed “hub cap” bowl appear to be reasonably water resistant and are likely to not corrode for a considerable time.My only complaint is that there is no easy or practical way to “break down” the machine to give a thorough cleaning to the parts behind the blade. Thus, it is important (after unplugging the device) to make a special effort to dry up any residual water left inside the hopper and exit chute after use.
Excellent ice shaver for the kids. Bought this for the grandkids. They usually stay with us for week of 4th of July. I tired to use my Vitamix bbn lender last year, but it just wasn’t made to shave ice. So this time, I did it right and got me one of these. It works great with bags of ice bought from the store, it your I’ve maker. But you’ll quickly empty out all the ice in your freezer, and then get your a$$ chewed out by your spouse when they want ice with their Diet Coke. Ask me how I know….As other have said, I made some ice blocks from some Tupperware bowls, and while the ice shaving was better, the amount of time it takes to make several of them just isn’t worth it. Use bagged ice. It’s cheaper and faster.I also bought the Hawaiian Shaved flavors, which are extremely good. The kids loved it!! I made them shaved ice almost all week long, and they really liked that they could pick out their own flavors. You can add pieces of fruit, and a can of whipped cream really does add to the presentation. Crush up somo Oreo cookies to sprinkle on top, and you’ve got an unmanageable and unstoppable sugar infused child with a source of energy that you can actually see crash 45 minutes later.I’ve bought a lot of stuff that makes we think…. What were you thinking…. But this is one that even my wife said was a excellent purchase. The only downside is… Now all the neighborhood kids come to my house when I’m out in the garage.
It’s a Beast. Bought a Hawaiian ice machine first. After freezing ice in their ice molds all day, I finally was able to make snowcone that evening. However, I soon discovered the machine came in broken. The motor would not turn. So disappointed. Then I discovered that the Company wanted me to pay for shipping their broken merchandise back to them for a refund. Anyway, saw this one and thought it looked sturdy and it used regular ice why not. It cost me $20 more than the Hawaiian product, but if it worked – than it would be worth it. Wow, was it worth it !!!!!! Wont ever go back to a cheap plastic snow cone machine again. This thing is built like a beast and works like one too !!!! Uses regular ice right out of my freezer door. Shaves it too snow like quality in just seconds (not ice chunks like the plastic ones). So easy to use. My 7 year old can do it with supervision of course. Take a red solo cup, fill with ice from freezer door and shave it. Ice shaves into bowl. Scoop ice up into cup from bowl. Add syrup and you have one great snow cone. And unlike those cheap plastic machines, no need too wait before doing it again. Made 8 big snowcones back to back. I’m sure this would function well for any kind of back yard get together/birthday parties. Yes, it makes a small mess, but dosent all snow cone machines. After all your shaving ice cubes into snowballs. I put mine on a drying Matt. Works great for keeping the mess down. The whole thing is stainless, but weighs only 9lbs. Easy to move around. The bottom has a plastic covering as not to rust out its feet. Easy to clean, just wipe it out. It is kinda bulky to store, but so far I’ve just kept it on my counter as I’ve used it everyday. I love this this beast!!!!!

Seriously…awesome. This is really great! I decided to shop around for a snow cone maker. I thought I’d have to pay much more for one that made nice, soft ice. But this is quality, sturdy and well worth the low price. It uses ice cubes right out of your freezer – no need to freeze ice in a mold – or buy an ice block. You can’t fill it very full – It has a safely that won’t allow it to start up unless the lever is even with the machine, to avoid injury. For my family – one fill makes 2 small/medium snow cones. It only takes about 5 seconds to grind the ice. It does take a little bit of maneuvering the bowl underneath – so that the ice doesn’t over shoot the bowl. I told my neighbors about it, and then let them borrow it. Before they had finished making 2 snow cones, the husband was on Amazon, ordering one for them. I bought pre-made syrups – which were good – but then discovered I could make homemade flavors for much less with sugar, water and powdered drink mix flavoring…and a little coconut extract to make tiger’s blood. Anyway, so good and nice, soft snowy ice. Depending on the pressure you apply – there will be a little bigger ice pieces at the end. My ice cubes from my freezer seem to shave more fine than a store bought bag of ice cubes. Definitely paid for itself after a couple of uses. (I have a big family 🙂 )
A really solid value for individual/family. I took a chance on this snow cone machine, and got the s yrups and stuff to go with it. I felt like you couldn’t go wrong at that price point; any larger more commercial type of machines I was seeing are in the hundreds of dollars range. The unit feels very sturdy and well constructed, with stainless parts. There’s a nice safety feature that switches the blade motor off when ice chute handle is lifted. I used one 32 ounce cup of ice for my first attempt, and it produced two VERY substantial cups of ice (easily larger than the biggest Kona Ice I’ve ever had.) Some splashes of syrup later, I couldn’t tell the difference between this and a Kona Ice treat in both consistency and flavor. I highly recommend the Hawaiian brand syrups that Amazon offers as a package (along with the pourers.) They are all delicious and the pourers make getting just the right amount of syrup very easy.Cleaning the machine was so easy for me, just a thorough wipe down with the unit unplugged and being very careful to avoid the blade area.My only complaint is one that others have shared, and it is with the bowl receptacle for the shaved ice. It sits a bit too far forward and doesn’t catch all the ice. However, I have found that if you hold the dish slightly forward (toward the chute) it solves the problem completely, and all the ice is captured.Overall, I highly recommend to any individual or family that believes paying 6.00 USD for a snow cone is outrageous, but can’t get enough of them during the summer. It will easily pay for itself by end of July!
Great Value and Sturdy Machine. Ordered this because me and the grandkids love snow cones. Made our first ones yesterday. I worked great! I came ready to go out of the box and with minimal instruction we were making shaved ice. And a little ice goes a long way too. I made three coffee cup size snow cones with around 20 ice-maker sized cubes. I had already purchased flavoring (banana, our favorite) and I just poured it on top. Delicious. So easy to use. Safety features are Great! When the ice pusher lid (I don’t know what else to call it) is open, the machine automatically stops. It doesn’t start again until the lid is completely closed. It takes a little muscle power to push the handle down to get the ice to shave but the kids were able to do it. Also, shaved ice is a little messy and doesn’t always get directly in the bowl provided, you have to move it around a bit, but then its only shaved ice and wipes up easily. I am very happy with the function and price. And very happy with the shaved ice it makes. Would highly recommend.

Blade came chipped. The blade came with a tiny nick. I imagine over time I’d have to just keep an eye on it and be sure to throw out that particular batch of shaved ice so it doesn’t accidently get ingested. It doesn’t seem like it will crack or break apart the whole blade, just sort of get chipped away at.I did learn that these are replaceable, but often come with nicks in them. The bowl is shallow and could probably do with a better design overall for shaved ice collection. I’ve just positioned it over the sink and placed a larger receptacle underneath and since it’s the sink all the stray shaved ice didn’t matter.
Snow Addiction. My teen has a snow cone addiction! Thanks to my desire to buy this machine and how easy it is to use, we have made innumerable snow cones in a months time. This thing is well used and well tested. I think maybe the blade is getting worn and it’s past time to order a new blade. The only CON I have and it’s a pretty major one, is over the past 2 weeks (had it a month now with heavy home use)the safety on/off feature isn’t working properly which I definitely don’t like. It is still going when the lever is up and stops when down so it’s almost switched completely. This is a safety and performance problem. Going to inquire about this.
Cool Machine. Item received – fast shipping – good packaging – will purchase other items from this seller…!! Kinda bulky and ice melts very fast leaving counter top very messy.
Snow-cone machine. I truly am enjoying this machine! I leave it on counter and use it every day! I make no calorie suryp and it keeps me on program! Love it!
Great appliance. It quickly goes through ice making refreshing summer snacks a quick and easy, the safty trigger seems to be off a few inches for mine but i just turn it off between opening the latch its not a big deal to me personaly and may be ajustable to fix with contact or knowledge. A quick rinse before and after and your good for clean up, i have a metal rack i place it on across my sink for draining and drying any stray ice. Wether for personal or party use this is definitly a value buy, for trying out new treats try freezing grape juice for a nice sorbet.

Shave ice. Great for shaved ice and snow cones. It’s great quality. It’s heavy so not easy to carry around. It’s a odd shape so take someCounter-space.
It leaks. It works awesome but the bowl is not correctly sized and it leaks out of it. You have to hold the handle and spin the bowl to try and catch all the ice. But it does work very well other than that.
Perfect shaved ice. This makes fluffy shaved ice like the Asian shops. Not the chunky snow cone kind that you might be looking for. I love that you can use any ice and don’t need to make them with a specific mold. Been using it occasionally for over 2 years and it still runs great. Pro tip: enjoy this fluffy shaved ice with fresh fruit and a drizzle of condensed milk. You’re welcome.

Love it!
Me encanto. Me gusto mucho
