YES. Its worth the expense. I really hesitated buying this for my standard poodle. Hey, Its a high price to pay for a dog brush, right? I cant afford the fees at the groomers, so I have been doing it myself. The slicker brush is really all that can penetrate my poodles thick hair and control matting. The slicker brush I had was difficult to use and my dog whined a lot, especially when brushing his legs. I spoke to MANY people at the dog park about the Chris Christensen Big G Slicker. Those who had them swore by them, so I took the plunge, knowing I could return it if I was dissatisfied.NOT RETURNING IT!!! I cant quite tell you why, but this brush is absolutely the easiest and best slicker brush I have ever used. I will try to describe why: First, the teeth are generous, long and flexible. They are angled and (the company advertises that) the tips are ground to avoid irritating the dog. The brush is very comfortable and ergonomic to hold. The handle is generous and shaped well. But most importantly of all, it made a huge difference to my dog! He was very tolerant of this brush, way more than any other brush I have used, including the expensive boar’s hair brush I tried. (Dont bother.) Nothing compares to this brush. NOTHING. It not only gets through his fluffy thick hair, it doesnt kill him to use it! He doesnt pull away, whine or act like he’s hurting at all. The brush itself is kinder on MY skin. The teeth are not sharp and do not scrape the skin, even in tender areas. It really got into the hair and easily undid the tangles. It was super easy to clean as well, easier than my shorter slicker brush.OK I’m now a believer in this brush. Is it worth the money? I guess so, seeing as how it turned routine grooming into a pleasant experience for me and the dog. I compared it to my old slicker brush and it’s clearly very different. So my advice is this: If your dog seems sensitive to brushing, if your hand hurts while brushing, if you find it difficult to clean a standard slicker, if you want a really high quality brush that (I presume) will last a very long time, this brush is the best quality and best performing one out there.

WORTH THE MONEY. Never in my life did I think I’d be one of those people spending hundreds of dollars on overpriced frivolities for my dog. But just like you, dear reader, I combed through the reviews on this product to see if it was really worth the exorbitant price tag.IT IS.I have a Border Collie Poodle mix with very fine hair that gets matted easily. I would have to brush him every other day with his old slicker brush and that wouldn’t stop the mats from forming and it definitely would not be able to get them out. So I tried this brush.I don’t know how but this brush gets through all his hair and has even prevented him from getting mats in his normal places. There have been some times I’ve gone 4 days without brushing him and this brush gets through his hair with relative ease. The bristles have not bent or moved through all its use. It’s also made brushing time less stressful and painful for him. I never thought I’d say this, but this brush is almost magical and worth every penny.
No more matting. Doodle floof is gorgeous, but even with daily brushing I used to have some matting. This brush was a game changer! Elton is active, swimming and playing, so keeping his floofy posed a challenge. Our groomer showed me that our old brushes had flexible bristles which weren’t getting through all of the curls. Now, we brush daily for 5-10min, no matting, lots of floof and a happy doodle!! Worth every Penny!!
You need it. I have been debating getting this brush since I got my poodle mix. She is about 3 years old, and it went on sale for the first time since I got her. So I bought it, and boy did I wish I would of got it 3 years ago. I used to spend an hour and 3 different brushes and a comb trying to get her knots out. Now I spend 15 minutes after she is fully dry from her bath, and it works so well. Definitely meant for curly poodle hair. I have tried it on my long hair cat and it doesn’t really do much. If you are debating getting this brush because of the price, I definitely think it is an investment in your time and pup going forward. Knowing what I know now, I would pay full price for this brush
Love this brush. We have a Berne doodle. She is a Big girl with lots of thick hair who likes to go with daddy into the tall grasses and woods. You can imagine what a mess she is when it’s time for brushing. This large brush goes deep and covers a wide area. Works through her hair and quickly gets out pesky seeds that cause tangles. Easy to use. Great for her curly hair.It has a comfortable handle too. Doesn’t feel ‘needley’ on her skin. You will need a comb to get the hair out
Works wonders. We run a small rescue for golden retrievers but also have an aged Great Pyrenees. Grooming has been a challenge, and I had heard about this brush so figured I would give it a shot. Wow, we now finally have a brush that works amazingly on double coated dogs! We literally get garbage bags of loose undercoat from all our goldens and the pyr. Though a bit pricey I highly recommend this tool if you own any double coated long fur breed.
A golden retriever’s best friend. Comfortable and easy to hold and a joy for my pet. She loves to br brushed with it , as I’ve started her early and she sees it as a relaxing massage. The long pins get through the coat to remove debris and seperate hairs, preventing matting. The brush will take out loose undercoat as well. If you are relying on a rake alone, and your pet fights you, you need to use this slicker to detangle the coat so that grooming is comfortable. Too many pet parents skip this step.Anyone with a long coated or double coated breed will adore this slicker. It is worth the price not to skimp. Also, I brushed my cat’s belly with ease. She tolerated it without force and I got out 4 or 5 small mats before they became a huge problem.
This brush is AMAZING – Perfect for my Pomeranian. I LOVE this brush, it’s perfect for my Pomeranians fur!! It’s the only brush that can get through the tangles and mats on my poms fur. I ordered the larger size and it works really great for his fur! My recommendation is to get a detangler spray to help with the double coat (I like to use Top Paw finishing spray smells yummy and works great!) the ice ice one made by the same creator as this brush works well too but I just love the fruity scent of the other one and it seems to get the tangles out a little better for me. This brush is the one though I’m telling you! I know the price is a bit high seeming but I’ve bought SO many brushes trying to take his fur and keep him beautiful, and to avoid shaving my pom (NEVER shave your pom it ruins their hair – I say over my dead body I will brush him everyday to avoid that and you should too!!!) long story short, buy this brush you don’t regret it!! You can often times find this brush on sale on Amazon too!! Happy brushing! 🙂
Its worth the price. Extremely nice brush. I have a female Airedale. Cant say enough good about it. Detangles and brushes the loose and dead hair off the dog. It is expensive but i feel it is worth it. It is easy to use and my dog is comfortable with it. After brushing, it looked as though i had never brushed her before with the amount of hair that came off of her. I think she will be alot cooler this summer.

Wonderful brush. First I want to say that I did receive this with the clear box it comes in broken and two of the pins bent, which is disappointing for an item of this cost… Amazon should really send this in a cardboard box and NOT a bag.The brush does work wonderfully! I’ve used it on my standard poodles and did try it on my Tibetan Mastiff as well. Gets the undercoat out so well of that thick fluffy coat and he loves being brushed with it. It fluffs the poodles coat very well and she is much more tolerant of this slicker than the other ones I’ve purchased for $15 at chain pet stores.I would definitely recommend this brush, the price is a bit steep, amazons shipping packaging could be better, but overall I am very happy with this purchase.
Pricey, but worth it. I have a poodle and an Aussie doodle. Both of these dogs have very different coats. However, this one brush does a great job on getting out tangles and preventing mats without hurting my animals. It makes things easier when they actually do have to go for grooming.
Best Brush. Pricey brush that is totally worth it. I just got a St. Bernard Poodle cross & this did the trick. It also did a reasonable job on my Pyrenees. Amazing brush!
Best brush ever. Save yourself the headache and just buy this for your dog. It’s worth every penny
