Beheads bagels perfectly. The hand guard around the blade makes it so anyone can use it with very little risk to personal injury. Some of the bagels get stuck sometimes if they are a bit more puffy than other bagels. even still, it isn’t hard to extract the bagel after cutting it. I wouldn’t mind it being just a little wider to better accommodate the variable thicknesses that bagels can be. Though this minor oversight is just that and does not hinder this item’s usefulness in any way.
Safely cuts hard bagel every time. My chore for family reunion brunch was to bring the bagels. I didn’t want to spend a lot buying bagels from a cutsie shop that would cut them for you…for an extra charge. So I ordered from the supermarket, bought my bagel slicer, and became the most popular person at the reunion. Not only did I save money, and time, I saved my hands by not having to manually slice with a knife and others who saw my new gadget begged to get in on the action.
This is a gem. If you’re on the fence about buying this product, go ahead and make that purchase. While I’m not one to like a million different gadgets this one is a game changer.I love the bagels from a well known big box store… but there is one issue -they are unsliced. I dreaded the crumb mess from slicing, having to use the serrated bread knife, was it immediately so that others in the house could use it….and then attempting to get even slices…so I turn to Amazon do a bit of research and found this bagel guillotine. This one gadget has simplified my mornings. I love it and I’m 100% sure you will too. Even slices every time with very little effort against even the most dense of bagels.
It’s called the Bagel Guillotine. So hey, woke up one morning and decided I wanted to slice my bagels like the 1%, well, more like the 10% because the one percent lives onbabies blood. Off to Amazon I went and found this homage to old time French executions, the Bagel Guillotine. I smashed that order button quicker than a French psychologist. I ran to Cosco and bought 12 dozen bagels, no merci’. It came in and I put it to work. Slow and steady with the blade drop for the win, too fast and the bagel puts up resistance. Also, a satisfying snap at the end as the protective blade housing hits the bottom. Pulling the blade out is a two handed task because the freshly executed bagel sticks a bit. A really cool touch would be a basket to catch the head of the bagel, but, still 5 stars.
This is a must have. This was a gift from our daughter. She knows we buy bagels a lot and this was a super idea she had! We didn’t even know there was such a product. It also works really good on English Muffins if they are the ones that haven’t been partially cut through yet. We tried it on partially cut ones and it still works but doesn’t always line up with the partial cut. Our son and his family were here when it came and they said “We need to get one of these! It’s great!
