Work pretty well with Home Assistant. When Nest messed up their API on their WiFi smoke/CO detectors, I had to come up with something that my Home Assistant could integrate with. These foot the bill.Knock on wood, cooking, I have not set these off…yet? My only suggestion for improvement:Have them work together to alert if one goes off. I miss that function. That way, if someone is in one part of the house and the other one goes off, knowing to get out or trouble would be a good thing.Maybe have the way these work with Home Assistant to allow you to do the following:1.) Give HA the ability to trip the others if one goes off.2.) Give HA the ability to run tests on them every month.Another thing I oddly miss about my Nest is a little light. It would be a good thing to have a light on them in the event of a night time fire when the power is out or it is really dark in the area. Before Nest messed up their API, you could use the motion sensor on them as additional motion detectors. I get this would had cost to the unit but I would pay more for this feature if this was ever offered in the future.

  2. 2nd Generation reliability issues. I’ve bought 24 of these First Alert Smoke and Carbon Monoxide Detectors since July 2018. Of those, 7 of them are the newer, 2nd Generation models, purchased since November 2020. Four of these 2nd Generation models were purchased in 2022 and two of these have now failed. Not the older ones.I purchased the 2nd Generation models because they support Z-Wave+ (Plus) which gives noticeably better battery life.I used to use them with a Z-Wave VeraPlus controller, so that any one of them being tripped would announce a house-wide alarm. I now use them with a Hubitat controller, which I’m very pleased with. The First Alert unit’s failure is indicated by three short beeps. The Hubitat controller shows the unit reporting “Hardware Failure.” Removing and reinserting the batteries has not resolved the issue. It will work for a while and then report hardware failure again.Overall I like the First Alert units and they work well with my Hubitat Z-Wave controller. I’m hoping that this newer release of the 2nd Generation units don’t continue to fail. The other unit that failed did so recently and was one units manufactured in March 2022.

  3. Sure did cheap out on the face print but works. Out of the box I thought it was the wrong detector because it looks like a cheap knockoff of the real thing compared to the listing image and the non-zwave first alert it replaced. They printed everything on the front, but in small print off to the side. Bought 2, both look the same and not like the listing image. That said, got it hooked up with HomeAssistant without needing any extra add-ons or such. All the stats are there and recognized correctly. Hopefully I’ll never need to test it.Will update if I run into any reliability issues down the road.

  4. Works with Smart Things. I love these and cannot sleep well without one. These work with my smart things hub and I get push notifications (text) to both my and my wifes phone. Several times we got these when things got burnt on the stove or oven and once when no one was home. Truely a home saver. I got this to replace a unit that just aged and there was a little frustration getting it set up. I will admit it was probably something I did but it is up a running now.

  5. It works with RING. I recently found out you should replace your smoke and/or C02 alarms if they are 10 years or older. So, this was the one I chose for the combination of smoke/C02 and the RING integration. There are zero instructions for the integration with RING, but lots of helpful videos out there to get it working.
