Well worth the money. I am the kind of guy that reads all reviews of everything before settling in to buy it. I have learned over the years that a lot of reviews are not true as the people writing them do not know how to use the products correctly . So Ill start by saying I bought a similar camera last week for one of my friends . This camera was a **** and priced very good . The **** app is similar to the app for the Tapo cameras but is in fact easier to use . My reason for upgrading to this 2 pack was that it included an ALARM that sounds off when motion is activated . I found this feature very useful in that if someone were in fact coming into the entrance of a house , It would go off and hopefully the intruder would leave . The Tapo app does take a little more getting used to . Another worry I had was not being able to record video to my phone without having a subscription . That would be a deal breaker for me as I want to be able to record an event WITHOUT monthly fees . ( You must RECORD the clip you want to the SD card first , then you can go to ” memory ” and view or download the clip to your phone for free ) .The price to have clips recorded online through the app is what I would call a fair price and they give you a 30 day free trial , But I’m pretty frugal and am happy with how the camera works without paying a monthly subscription . One thing that it does have besides a privacy mode that turns the camera functions off , is a ” HOME AND AWAY ” preset. If you have multiple cameras , you can ” PRESET ” each camera individually for how you want it set at either setting . Just because you are home , you may want a camera to notify you of any action that trips it , OR you may want to disable the ALARM feature on just ONE of the rooms you use . It took me a little bit to figure out that I could individually set each camera the way I wanted for my ” AWAY” mode and it would save all my custom settings . Now when I leave the home , I press ” away ” and it sets all the cameras with the touch of ONE button.. Then when I get home , I hit the ” HOME ” button and I have it set to turn off my living room cameras , yet leaves the others active . What a great feature , once you learn how to use it . Like I said , the software on the ” **** ” was a little easier to use , but that model camera didn’t have the ALARM feature . Once I took the time to play around with the ” TAPO ” camera and software and learn how to set it , This camera and software are WELL worth the money . I plan to add a couple more cameras to my system in time , and hope they continue to work well . I am sure if you set it up right and learn how to use the software , you will be amazed at what these little cameras can do for the price .
Solid camera for indoor monitoring. Decent video quality. Not very detail over 4 mts (3.3 ft) but I guess this is not the purpose of these cameras.Setting up the camera are kinda problematic due to some steps that aren’t very clear (maybe it was my smartphone that is 3 years old) but to pair the camera to your WiFi network the app creates a secondary WiFi signal and my phone did not change automatically to the latter network. I did not realize of this step (my mistake) and wasted almost an hour trying to figure out why the camera could not connect to my WiFi. Besides that problem and some minor privacy settings that are weird, the camera works just fine. They record and notifies quite fast of any movement or activity in their surroundings.Sound quality is not something to praise but is functional, as well as the mic (yes, one can have a conversation with a person in the other end). Function wise, there are nice settings like turning off the red dot, framing specific parts of the room to quickly turn the camera to frame that specific place, automatic detection, turn on/off the alarm, face detection and so on. Feature-wise is very complete. One downside might be the storage. If you don’t buy the cloud service or do not have an SD, the camera will not record any activity by itself. It will still notifies you about any movement but It will be not possible to see what had happened. So at least get a 64GB SD card if you are not interested in cloud storage.Overall, the camera is a solid choice (in any light conditions) and app is really feature pack to customize it to your liking.
Loves these cams. Super easy to setup. The only thing that didn’t work was voice call from the app but the talk button pretty much does a similar thing. Really clear picture. I bought these to keep an eye on my 92 year old mom. Just the living room, dining room, and kitchen. Also put one in the basement where she does laundry. I haven’t tried talking to her remotely yet. That will be fun.Edit: After having them in operation for a few days both cameras would go offline and only come back online one at a time for only a short time. The pan function didn’t work. The LED showed solid red and the instructions didn’t show this as a condition and what action to take. So I traveled the half hour to my 92 year old mom’s house and just pulled the power plug on both cameras and the green light went on. They appear to be working now. If this continues I’ll return them. I’m not going to spend my time as an IT support technician. Was the cause an auto update that needed a power reset? Who knows. None of my mom’s other devices on the her network had issues. Just these two cameras.
Good so far. These cameras seem to work very well so far, I hope I’m not jinxing anything by saying that. We had a wyze camera before and it constantly went offline. So far these haven’t done that. The two way audio works, but is a little choppy. Your voice will cut in and out. Picture is good, and it pans the way it should. The real test will be when we go on vacation. If they are reliable for us then, then I know I made a good choice buying them.
Incredible value. These cameras are awesome. We recently came in to a situation where we had to leave our dogs at home by themselves frequently so we purchased these to keep an eye on them. They took 10 minutes to get set up fully and provide a great picture with mostly clear audio. The only drawback I could provide is that the speaker on them to talk through your phone does not provide very clear audio.
Great Pan/Tilt Motion Tracking Camera but Has Some Issues. This review is for TP-Link Tapo 2K Pan/Tilt Indoor Security Camera for Baby Monitor, Pet Camera | Motion Detection & Tracking | 2-Way Audio | Cloud & SD Card Storage | Works w/Alexa & Google Home | Black | Tapo C211.Great video quality in 2K or 1080P but loses some details farther away, which is expected. So while I can zoom in on something, it does lose sharpness if it’s far away. I use it to watch my senior dog when he’s home alone. Setting up the camera is pretty easy by just following the quick setup guide. However, if you have VPN installed on your phone, turn this off first before you proceed or you will have a hard time connecting to the camera and your wi-fi. You can turn the vpn back on afterward. So basically 1) Pause vpn, if applicable 2) connect the phone to the camera wi-fi ID and once that’s connected then 3) connect your phone to your own wi-fi 2.4Ghz network and then 4) resume vpn, if paused earlier. If you don’t turn off vpn you will waste a lot of time trying to figure out why the camera could not connect to your WiFi. Been there done it and this is my 7th Tapo camera setup so just saying…I like Tapo specifically because I don’t have to buy cloud storage. This means that if you don’t buy the cloud service or do not have a microSD, the camera will not record any activity by itself. It will still notify you of the activities you’ve set up to be notified about but it will not be possible to see what had just transpired without a microSD. I personally use a high endurance one that is designed specifically for monitoring cameras and dashcams, not just a phone microSD, because it needs to be able to handle the amount of read-write-retrieve that these cameras require. This is the one I use for all my cameras, if interested: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07NY23WBG Just don’t go beyond the 512Gb limit for this camera. The camera is very good in general but I noticed that it can also lose track of me in terms of motion tracking and pan/tilting especially when I’m wearing dark clothing. After a while it would go back to the original position, leaving me baffled at times. It has also gone offline regularly for no apparent reason so I had to disable motion sensing which took care of that problem but it defeats the purpose of that feature! I thought the unit would rotate in the middle, at the ball joint, but it actually rotates at the base. I can hear it move and I leave the status light on to alert me that it’s on when I’m home so that I can remember to go into privacy mode and turn off the camera. This is usually when I wish that there is a Watch app that I can just click to turn on/off the camera without opening up the whole app to do this. There is a Home/Away mode for this though which can be set up automatically. Everything you need is in the app and I think it’s a great app. They’ve updated it a few times since I’ve been using it and it gets better every time. There’s always something new to play around with and explore. I love being able to download the video to my phone to share with friends and family. The only thing I do find annoying is that it will prompt me regularly every 5 minutes to continue monitoring and I have to respond or the screen is frozen. This defeats the purpose of it being a full fledged monitoring camera so it’s not great for baby monitoring. Something to keep in mind.Overall, this is a pretty good camera and is feature packed like all my other Tapo cameras but it had some quirks for me like losing track of where I walked and also going offline until I stopped motion sensing completely. It has great night vision and very crisp daylight videos though. It’s just a matter of fine tuning the settings to get things to behave the way you want that can take some time to get right. I don’t like subscribing to anything so the best part is that no subscription is required! I would give it a 4.0/5.0 – 03/11/2024.Side note: You only need to do the setup on one phone and will be able to view the camera on all your other devices whether iPad or whatever other tablets once you log on to the Tapo app. However, you will -not- be able to view the cameras on your laptop or the web by inputting the ip address in the browser (I’ve tried). Well, I’ve never found a way to do this and I’m not that tech savvy to figure it out but it may be possible using some other authentication method. Also, you can set the camera to do continuous recording vs only detection recording (Default) by going to Setting – Storage & Recording – Recording Schedule and editing the time blocks from Orange (Only when something is detected) to Blue (Always record) or even to White (Don’t record anything).Note that your phone can be connected to the 5GHz wifi all the time but the cameras will only use 2.4GHz by default. Many cameras only support 2.4GHz. As far as I can tell, it will not support or connect to any unsecure wifi network. It seems to only support WPA or WPA2 encryptions. WEP, Portal, WPA/WPA2-enterprise, or WPA3-only networks are not supported. If your internet drops, you can still use the cameras or watch live views without an internet connection if you are connected to the same wireless network. However, you won’t get any notifications since this requires internet access.I have the Tp-Link Wifi extender (RE220) and I use the Tapo Tethers app to connect half of my cameras to the hidden SSID (_ext) I set up in the app. I would recommend it if you want to have a greater wifi range.06/04/2024: Note: If you set up this camera to turn on and off with another camera (like with Leave Home or Arrive Home automation), and you turn on the other camera, this camera will also turn on by itself as soon as you appear in front of it (despite being in Privacy Mode i.e. camera is OFF). I believe this is a serious bug and so don’t be surprised to find the camera has turned on all by itself even if you have privacy set to ON, if you have this type of setup. Otherwise, it will stay shut down in privacy mode. If you don’t want this to happen then do not add this camera to your automation routine. However, this doesn’t just happen with this camera. It happens with all my other Tapo cameras as well that are linked with a motion sensing camera such as this one. For example, if you set Arrive Home to turn OFF both this camera and a non-motion sensing one, and you manually turned on this motion sensing camera, it will also force the other non-motion sensing one to come on as well so be careful with this type of setup lest you find it recording you doing something you may not want to be seen on camera. LOL Hopefully, Tapo will address this issue in one of their future software releases but be warned!!!
Cameras are great. App…not so much. I picked up 4 of these cameras a couple weeks ago. Here’s my take on the cameras and the app that you use to run them. Lot of pros, but a fair number of cons. Remember these are like 22$ cameras. The cameras so far have worked flawlessly. No connectivity issues, and good resolution. Digital zoom so it’s gonna go into pixel land if you zoom in a bit.The app is quick and responsive but leaves a fair bit to be desired.Camera Pros:1. Good Resolution2. Good Uptime, little to no connectivity issues3. Panning around is quick and seamless4. Night vision is surprisingly good with little to no motion blur.Camera Cons:1. Bright light sources are REALLY bright, and there is no brightness adjustment2. Motion detection could be better, especially in night vision mode.3. Pretty limited FOV. Expected a bit more viewing space. Hard to take in a whole room.4. Microphone on the camera is pretty terrible.5. Speaker on camera is pretty terrible.6. Hard to place camera in a higher spot in a room as the “down pan” is very limited. You’re almost forced to mount them upside down and invert the video or place the camera on a down-tilted surface.App Pros:1. Connects quickly and without issues.2. Interface is handy and groups all of the Tapo products in one place3. Setting various camera “spots” is a great great feature: Can set up to 4 locations that it will automatically pan and zoom over too. Can set patrol mode where it goes from spot to spot. Handy.4. Organizes video captures nicely and by device so you can quickly see what it recorded.App Cons:1: This is a huge one. No forward or back options when viewing a video. Only video speed adjustments. This is a huge huge deficiency on Tapo’s part. Even the cheapest garbage cameras have this feature.2: Can only download video (from micro SD) when on the same network. Very unhelpful if someone breaks in and you cant even download the content if they steal the camera.3: Displays how long a video clip is but not where you are IN the clip timewise or how much is remaining.4: Often have to back out and go back in for a video feed list to update.5. Other than resolution no real picture adjustments. No brightness slider, etc.All in all for 20 bucks-ish for each camera they have quite a bit of bang for the buck. Just strangely lacking in a lot of “take for granted” adjustments and features.
Great cameras. Picture quality is AWESOME. Easy to set up, literally plug into the wall, connect to your phone with the app and you’re all set! They give you a month of free recording in the app without taking any card information!! They’re just thr right size! They’re bright in the dark and the daylight Picture quality is again, amazing and so clear!! They move with anything moving & You can choose the sensitivity! You have so much control over the view points with these They literally pick up the entire room! They function great! Haven’t had any issues AT ALL. We bought 3 of them for our home to keep an eye on the kids and animals and we couldn’t be happier!
Goodbye Wyze, hello Tapo. I’ll be writing this on all the Tapo cameras I’ve recently purchased. (4x C110, 2x C210, 2x C520WS)These are flawless, amazing, and so far ahead of Wyze it’s not even funny. They are massively affordable, truly need no subscription, have fantastic features in their app, can record locally to an SD card; everything you would want. Coming from Wyze (see more below), I didn’t know that cameras were supposed to act like this. I assumed, at Wyze prices, that I was getting what I paid for. But when I finally had enough constant stress and spent the money to change to Tapo… my life has been changed. Seriously, I probably added years to my life not being so stressed out all the time because my cameras never, ever worked right. These do, and I cannot say it enough times… if you’re currently using Wyze then get one of these. Use it for a week side-by-side and tell me what you think.Super light, have a few of mine mounted with ‘hard plastic velcro’ (3M Dual Lock). Setup is fast and easy, and works right away. Don’t have to do it over and over again (Wyze). Clarity is superb – 1440p quality. Night vision is phenomenal. Don’t really care about ‘color’ night vision – but my outdoor ones do have it. And one of the best parts is Tapo is part of TP-Link. What does that mean? TP-Link has been around for a very long time, and they specialize in networking equipment, LoL. So yeah, if you want a reliable camera on your network, who better to trust than a networking company.TLDR: Don’t waste your time on any other brand. Buy these. I promise you won’t regret it.About Wyze:If you’re like me and never wanted to spend thousands on home monitoring and security, then you may have stumbled upon Wyze cameras. At first, they were amazing – very affordable with no subscription necessary. And they worked. Over time, that changed drastically as they ventured into making everything else on the planet instead of focusing on their roots (cameras). They funded that stuff by changing to a subscription policy. And in their haste had multiple security breaches and problems such as other people viewing cameras that aren’t theirs. This is of course while the software and hardware has become so incredibly bad that they’re unusable. I mean, they actually do not function 92% of the time. Whether it’s freezing, not connecting, stuttering so bad that it looks like a PowerPoint presentation, app for closing, etc.
Works really well. This high quality unit was easy to get up & running. Only took one try. I use it to monitor my large 2yr old dog when I’m away. Also, if I’m working at my desk & don’t hear her, I check on her with my phone without interrupting my work. The camera is clear, moves without sound & has wide ranging movement with options I’ve not tried or found necessary. It has a great app & has never failed to connect no matter how far away I am. Best feature is the peace of mind it provides when I’m away from my house. One of my best & favorite purchases.
Excellent Value for Money, Great Features. PROS:| Very affordable| Super smooth app experience| Camera zoom available while watching| High-quality image| Very fast loading| Great for monitoring my catCONS:| None found so farCONCLUSION:A great purchase for pet owners. Excellent value for the price, smooth functionality, and high-quality visuals make it a top choice.PS : Will you find my cat’s head on this picture? No.
Me gustó mucho la cámara, en general es bastante buena por su precio y muy fácil de configurar con la app para el celular. También tiene muy buena resolución.
Excellent price/performance. Great little home security camera. Pictures and videos are excellent. Easy to setup. App is pretty good. Object/motion detection is decent. One quibble – when camera is patrol mode motion/object detection, is turned off. Patrolling stops after a couple sweeps. This makes patrolling not very useful except on an ad hoc basis.Night videos are surprisingly good.I have not tested voice integration or cloud storage.. I’ll update the review if/when I test these.
It’s great. We love it. We can check in on our babies while they’re sleep without disturbing them. Can talk to them. The picture quality is nice. Inexpensive & set up was super easy & quick. We bought a sd card to go with it. Also the size wasn’t super big but we like the overall design. The pan on it is almost 360 so we can see the whole room. It has options to set a record schedule hour by hour daily. You can also set it to record when motion detected. The night vision is cool too! Thanks!!
Great Purchase. I’m impressed with this camera. It was so easy to setup. I was able use it immediately! The camera quality, the day vision, and the night vision work great. Even the persons detection. I plan on buying another one. The best part of all is that you don’t have to subscribe to anything!!! You can use the sd card. However there is an option to subscribe to a monthly cloud service if you like.
Great Quality and Easy Setup. The TP-Link Tapo 2K Pan Tilt Security Camera arrived without any issues, and the quality is excellent, just as promised. The 2K resolution provides clear and detailed video, which is perfect for monitoring my dogs. The pan and tilt functions are smooth and cover a wide range, making it easy to adjust the view remotely.Subscription for Advanced Features: The camera works great out of the box, but if you want to use advanced features like cloud storage, you’ll need a subscription. It’s not a dealbreaker, but something to keep in mind if you’re trying to avoid extra costs.Connectivity Hiccups: The camera runs smoothly most of the time, but it can lag or temporarily disconnect if your Wi-Fi signal isn’t strong. It’s a bit frustrating, but it’s manageable with a solid network setup.
Love this camera. I did hours of research trying to find a budget friendly, quality camera, WITH NO SUBSCRIPTION. This camera is perfect! I use it to check in on my cats during the day since I leave at 4am and get home at 2pm. The night vision and day vision camera quality is surprisingly good (the camera doesn’t zoom in but you can zoom in on your screen on the app). The app is easy to use as well and I haven’t had any connectivity issues at all. My Wi-Fi is 5ghz but in the My Spectrum app it lets you switch it to 2.5ghz temporarily to set up the camera and it was super easy and worked well. I have been using the camera for a week now and I don’t regret buying it (except I should have got a 2 pack). It has a privacy mode to turn off the camera when I am home which is nice. The cable is probably close to 8 feet long. The speaker is decent and it has a mini SD card slot. I like that it also has an option for both motion detection and person detection. I don’t want notifications every time my cats run back and forth but I do want to know if there is someone in my house so I leave only the person detection on and it works 100% of the time (my mom goes over to visit them and it always sends notifications). I use it for security at night too with the alarm system you can set up. You can chose lights, siren, or both and you can set it for manual on or scheduled. Gives me an extra peace of mind on the nights I am home alone. 100% recommend this camera (save yourself the hours of research, I did it for you)!!!
Great product, great price. Easy setup and all the needed functionality in the free app. Super simple to setup on my home wireless network.Video quality is great.Software is free and has all the pan-tilt, tracking, detection, privacy modes that one might need, and easy sharing access to other family members.I am using 128gb memory cards for local storage.Using the app, it is easy to look at the clips that were automatically saved upon motion detect, and it is easy to download any clips you need archived to protect from overwrite due to loop save mode. I am not using the paid cloud storage which seems a little pricey.A lot of bang for buck.
Great Cameras. Easy to set up. Great function. Good App. Great Value, Excellent clarity, wide angle lens. Sound and microphone are not super sensitive, but they do work well enough. They do need 120V power to operate, but the network connection is wireless and over your Wireless LAN or Wi-Fi.
Great quality for great price 👍. I’m very impressed with the quality of video and the camera has an amazing sound pickup too.Easy to install and the app is easy to navigate through. You can even zoom inImpressive night vision too.I like this camera brand that this one is my second time purchasing it because I needed another one.Highly recommended
