Not sure how it promotes weight loss; will have to wait and see. I should preface this by saying that I am not a vet or an expert in cat nutrition however I’m pretty well versed in human weight loss principles.I transitioned my cat to this food from the Science Diet Adult 7+ formula. My cat had no problems transitioning as she loves to eat, and was even more enthused about the Perfect Weight than her old food which was a relief. At the very least, this shows that it tastes good and is tolerable. The kibbles are of smaller and a lighter color than the adult 7+ formula.I’m honestly not sure where the weight loss part comes in though. Looking at the nutrition breakdown, the Perfect Diet food contains 315kcal/cup whereas the regular Adult 7+ food contains 316kcal/cup which is virtually no different.My cat’s target weight is 10lbs (she currently weighs 12). Per package instructions, Perfect Weight recommends 1/2cup for weight loss and 7/8 cup for weight maintenance. The regular adult 7+ formula recommends 3/4cup for a 10lb cat.Therefore, I don’t fundamentally understand the weight loss principle behind this particular formula, other than to just feed your cat less. I don’t want to jump to conclusions – perhaps in a few months I’ll be proven wrong but right now I’m wondering if this is just a marketing strategy and if you’d be able to accomplish the same by just counting your cat’s calories.
My picky cats love this. My cats are very picky, and one has an intolerance to fish so I have to avoid fish oil additives which is way harder to find than it should be. Usually I get them a different Science Diet dry food, but they’re admittedly a bit overweight so I gave this a shot in the dark. They immediately loved it and left the old food in the bowl during the “transition” period! Not sure what it is about this, but even my cat that will only eat wet food most of the time loves it. I believe this has coconut oil in it in place of fish oil, which I’m allergic to myself, but it’s worth the itchiness.
Science Diet Cat perfect weight. Great nutrition as all Science Diet foods have, cats love the food. Haven’t seen any change in the weight of one of my cat’s but both cat’s like the food so I will continue to feed them Science Diet.
For fat cats. I have a fat cats. This food helps keep them from getting too rotund and they seem to like the flavor pretty well. I don’t love the price of the food, but there is no telling how obese these fur balls would be without it.Overall, will keep buying.
Saved my cats life. Switching to this food helped my cat get rid of horrible fleas! Never buy your cat cheap food again!
