It works and it’s a lot more simple than you think. I finally stopped being lazy and set these up. I live in an apartment and had my puppy trained to pee-pads. Pee-pad training is never really perfect however, and the cost of her misses were slowly but surely outweighing the benefit of not taking her out as often. I bought one of those velcro-type hooks to put on the wall next to the door leading outside, and hung the bells from there. (I did this after unsuccessfully hanging the bells from the door knob. Don’t be like me. If the bells ring every time the door moves, it’ll just annoy you and confuse your dog)For one week,every time I took my puppy outside, I would put on her harness, say the command ” Outside”, and tap the bell. I would say outside one more time, right as I tapped the bell, and then took her out. Did this for a week, and on the 2nd week, she cautiously mosied over to the bell. She hit it so lightly, that I wasn’t sure if it was an accident or not, but I immediately said ” Yes” and confirmed ” Outside”. It took another few days for her to do it again. As soon as she did, I would react and say outside (even if I needed to get dressed first before I took her out). It was important (I think) to immediately acknowledge that I heard the bell and that I equated it with outside, that way she would do the same.After that 2nd week of inconsistent hits from her, she got more confident, and by the weekend was fully aware that tapping the bell meant outside. You can’t give in to your lazy self during this week. If your dog wants to go out 5 times, take them out. I think it’s better that they know you understand bell means they want to go out first. You can establish limits later if they start to abuse it and want to go out just to play or something. In fact the instructions suggest associating it with their potty command rather than general outside commands like “go for a walk”.To sum it up, if you’re on the fence about the effectiveness of this bell, or even the quality, then don’t be. This is an excellent, sturdy bell. It’s long. Maybe 2 feet or just under? The bell is easy to hear, but not annoyingly loud. The bells also come with instructions which I found helpful. To top it off, they are inexpensive. Give them a try!
It’s helped my puppy tell me when it’s time to go out. I had been failing in my understanding the subtle queues my puppy was giving me to let me know she wanted to go out .. which was mostly just looking at me, which could have been for any number of reasons, I decided to try the bells again, which had worked for a previous dog of mine. It did take a few days, but she has caught on, and although she still tries to alert me with her subtle queues first, if I don’t catch them she will go ring the bell to let me know she needs to go outside, and there have been very few accidents since installing the bells and her understanding that ringing means she goes outside. Maybe the only downside is, now that she knows ringing the bell means she gets to go outside, she rings the bells a lot more frequently.
Used for safety bells. These bells are great! Super easy to put on your door knob and works on handles, knobs, or door knobs that you must grasp.They’re perfect size and can be wrapped around if you don’t want it to get stuck in the door when closing.We use these so we can hear if the front or back door is being opened. Keep them on the inside. Intruders don’t like being heard and since our bed is on the 2nd floor, it’s nice to be able to hear the doors from up here.I stayed upstairs and my husband tested it downstairs and I could hear well.They’re also durable and now the cats also like to paw at them so it’s security and a toy.
If you’re a dog parent, you need these. I’ve always had boxers, and I’ve always had these bells hanging on my back door. All of my kids have known to ring the bell if they wanted to go outside! These are a great alternative to the pricier name brand ones which is great because when they become dirty, I can just toss them and not hassle with cleaning them. They’re loud enough that I can hear them anywhere I am in the house! Great product, thank you!
They ring loud and proud. I recently got the Dog Doorbells for my furry friend, and I have to say, it’s quite good, but there’s a minor hiccup. The bells themselves are excellent for potty training; my dog quickly learned to associate them with going outside. However, the hanging mechanism could be better. Sometimes, the bells don’t ring as smoothly as I’d like, and that can be a bit frustrating. Nonetheless, it’s a useful training tool overall, despite this small drawback.
Starting to work. I have two large dogs. One is a pushy jerkface that barks so loudly the next town will know when he needs to go outside to pee or chase the murderous squirrels. The other, is very soft spoken and very quietly makes a huffing sound when he wants to go outside so I got him these bells. He’s 2 so he wasn’t raised with these, but is starting to get the hang of them now. He’ll do his huffing but now when he scratches he hits the bells and we know he needs out. These are made for a knob but I have managed to attach then to the handle of our sliding patio door just fine.
Great training tool. The BLUETREE Dog Doorbells have been a fantastic training tool for potty training my puppy! VERY NICE BELLS. This product is being used for potty training with my puppies. I would order 2 instead of just one incase of wear on the nylon but the nylon would work great for the use we are going to do. 5 star overall and priced very well. the nylon is truly going to last i believe for quite some time this is not just cheap nylon.
Great Adjustable Door “Bells”. The media could not be loaded. I love this two pack of adjustable size door jingle bells! We have a puppy that learned right away to ring the bell to go outside! They’re a very good size and ring louder than the other bells that I had! The strap that they are attached to is very strong and sturdy, this is a very well made product. The strap is adjustable, so it allows for different sizes to fit your needs. It has 7 bells attached throughout the length of the strap and it works like a charm! Great product, I highly recommend! Both of mine are on doors that that dogs use to go outside and everyone is very happy with the functionality and durability of the door bells. My puppy learned to use them right away!
Training; easy. My husband and I got this originally to train our dog to use the restroom. We hung out by the door and it was perfect length to not be on the ground but still accessible for our dog to use. We just had our dog touch it and take him outside to use the restroom. It was a success story for us! The ring is not extremely loud or annoying but does catch your attention. Now anytime our dog needs to use the restroom he rings the bell. It is also very sturdy and high quality!
My Dog Said No, But the Door Said Yes. I purchased the hanging doorbell dog trainer hoping to teach my dog to signal when he needs to go outside. Unfortunately, my dog has completely refused to use it, no matter how much training I tried.That said, I found an unexpected benefit—this doorbell works wonderfully as a security device! Anytime someone opens the door, the bells jingle loudly, alerting me right away. It’s a simple but effective way to know when someone is coming or going.The quality is excellent, with durable materials that hold up well. Even if it didn’t work for its intended purpose, it’s still been a great addition to our home.4/5 stars 🌟
