Extremely durable. I have used this for countless corn tortillas. This is a dream to use! SO much easier then trying to flatten out the masa balls any other way. I use parchment or plastic wrap over the masa so it doesn’t stick to anything. We are a gluten free family so we can only use masa.. we roll them in golf ball sizes, put them between the plastic wrap and squish them between the plates and voila, perfect tortilla every time! I would definitely recommend.
A no-brainer. If you eat tortillas on any sort of regular basis, then do yourself a favor and get one of these. They’re built like a tank and will last for generations, so it’s a good investment. We all know that nothing beats fresh and homemade… anything. To get started, I purchased a 4-pound bag of Maseca instant corn masa flour (it’s gluten free!) in my regular grocery store, and all I needed after that was a little bit of water. The bag will set you back about four dollars, and makes about 66 tortillas. It’s highly recommended to use two pieces of heavy duty plastic in between the press itself and the masa mixture as you’re forming your tortillas. I cut up a gallon-sized, ziplock freezer bag in the shape of two 9” circles, and they are perfect. I hand wash them after I’m finished, and store them with my other kitchen “wraps”. Another thing I appreciate is that I can make as few or as many tortillas as I need at the time, so there’s no waste. Any leftover masa can be stored in the freezer or refrigerator until next time.
Works great, I use it for flour tortillas. I was hand rolling flour tortillas and it was taking forever. I was not sure if this would work well for flour tortillas but I have had excellent experiences. I warm it up slightly on the stove before I use it and i put a golf ball sized dough ball between two pieces of parchment paper. It sticks well to the paper, does not shrink back up and I peel the dough off the paper directly into the skillet. Works fantastic! Saves tons of time and this thing is a tank, it will probably out last me.
Easy to use. I love this Tortilla press! It’s easy to assemble, easy to use, easy to clean, sturdy, and produces a uniform product with every press. No need to “over press” because the cast iron press does all the work! This tool can be used with corn, wheat, & yeast doughs. Great for tortillas, and flat breads such as naan or pita bread. My only regret is waiting so long to make this purchase!
