An excellent book. This book links personality theory, myth, the acupuncture meridian energies in the body, and Kinesiology. No small feat to just integrate all these areas, Dr. Whisenant goes the extra mile to explains the theory behind the links, how to detect areas where non-beneficial beliefs are stored, and how you can correct specific energy patterns with yoga. He gives many ways to understand the meridian system, and many ways to keep the body in balance and healthy. In Psychological Kinesiology: Changing the Body’s Beliefs, Dr. Whisenant shares the conclusions he gleaned from fifteen years in practice as a Clinical Psychologist. For deeper understanding (beyond identifying and correcting specific problems), the book provides fascinating information regarding personality patterns which tend to appear with the dysfunction of each of the body’s twelve meridians, as well as mythological (or symbolic) explanations for disturbances patterns. A complex conglomeration of ideas and information, this is a facinating divergent explanation of human psychology. On the Amazon page about this book the author invites E-mail. I found him responsive and very open to questions. I particularly enjoyed his newer book, which is available only through the author.
One of three books that have impacted me in a profound way. Never in my life had I thought that I stored within my body information, even commands that would dictate themes or courses in my life. So there has to be something that integrates the whole body. Hence, I had to trust my body to know what would be best for it in my transformation and evolution. What “I” am is not just the thoughts, but my core beliefs as they are registered in the tissues and energy systems of my being. This understanding launched my path to self-observation, and I have been doing this for eight years. I am now sensitively aware that diet, toxins, exercise, thoughts, relationships, activities of work and recreation all impinge on the outcome of my life through my body and its communication pathways as they are clearly explained in this book.As Dr. Whisenant elucidates, if one can accept responsibility for the entire outcome of one’s life from a non-judgmental stance, one can use the technology of Psychological Kinesiology to move into a position of directing life instead of passively suffering from it. One can realize that dysfunctional assumptions are neither good nor bad.I am not to blame if I unknowingly precipitate misfortune and I am not to be lauded if I unknowingly attract a windfall. But if I understand the intimate energetic architecture involved, these subtle ebbs and flows can be utilized to manifest the best experience. The author has stated that: “We don’t think with the brain; we think with the body which happens to include the brain.” This point was driven home to me early on when a specific example that was used in the book applied directly to me. The instructional example involved having two flat tires in one month on brand new tires. And it actually happened to me. I could have swiftly written this off to a stroke of bad luck, but by looking deeper into the causative network, I was able to make changes in my life that went significantly beyond the functioning of my vehicle. This book allowed me to have a much deeper understanding of methodology of applied kinesiology. One can use this material as healer to work on others and one can also use these methods to work on oneself. Furthermore, one can even use this understanding as a guide in the selection of other health and life enhancement practitioners.Don’t pass up this opportunity to have these tools and this understanding to take control of and enhance your life.
Impressive with a different protocol. Psychological Kinesiology espouses concepts that can be monumental in their impact. In 1998,I contracted idiopathic thrombocytopenic pupura(ITP).This disease is considered fatal unless you have your spleen removed, undergo bone marrow transplants and take steroids the rest of your life. I refused to do this as the treatment is only 50% effective and does not correct the cause(idiopathic).I went to a practioner that used the pricnciples outlined in Psychological Kinesiology who found that I had a dysfunctional assumption. This condition is discussed and explained in the book. Using these concepts, I am now cured of ITP and am still well after two years. Did not have a splenectomy, etc. Anyone who reads this treatise with an open mind will have a new explanation of how and why we get sick and get well.If you are interested in your true health status, this is a must. It literally saved my life.
Highly recommend. I bought this based on a review. I currently see a chiropractor who uses applied kinesiology, NET neural emotional technique, and NAET allergy elimination technique. I am finding that to really gain wellbeing it is taking multiple multiple ingredients. What I do in my personal life, eat think feel do as well as see a health practitioner who touches the patient physically emotionally mentally. This book allows me to better monitor, evaluate, hypothesize between visits for better sessions. I am still reading but absolutely love the deeper psychological profiling of the meridians and organs beyond liver/anger, heart impatience. Highly recommend this book.
