  1. >>> DOES THE JOB. > MUSIC QUALITY – The quality of music using the Sony MDREX15LP is very good – but with little base. The base is as good as any brand or model of earbud. That’s just a matter of physics, earbud drivers are simply to small to produce good base. (Some might produce louder base, but “loud” (lacking any detail) is not the same thing as “good”). Suggestion, use the earbuds when you are out, but purchase a Sony ZX headphone set for listening to music at home.> VOICE QUALITY – Clean, clear and crisp in the voice-range, without fiddling with an equalizer – largely because the base is poor. So these (or similar) earbuds are clearly the choice for listening to audiobooks, podcasts, talking on your phone, etc.> EXERCISE, ETC – Stays in place better than most earbuds. But, if you engage in strenuous exercise, consider Panasonic ErgoFit, which fit deeper in your ear. The down side of the Panasonic ErgoFit is that they fit so securely that it is difficult to get them out of your ear quickly, to answer a phone, etc.> SYMMETRY – The Sony MDREX15L are close to being bilaterally symmetrical – It doesn’t really matter if you put the put the left earbud in your right ear, etc. However, the Panasonic ErgoFit are not, they fit deeper into the ear, and are shaped differently to match your right and left ear canals. It can take a while to get used to inserting the right Ergofit earbud into your right ear, and the left into the left.> ISOLATION – All truly in-the-ear earbuds, with cup-shaped rubber cushions, are good at reducing outside noise, better than headphones – often good enough for air travel (depending on the aircraft and the location of your seat). Many earbud brands claim to feature “noise cancellation” but do not actually have any noise cancellation circuitry. Passive isolation (such as provided by the Sony MDREX15LP earbuds), is NOT noise cancellation. Feedback reduction (on wi-fi earbuds with microphones) is often called noise cancellation, but isn’t. Beware that while true noise cancellation works moderately well for aircraft engines (and similar sounds), it doesn’t work at all for screaming children or random noise. If your earbuds feel loose in your ear, you may need to install large cushions on the earbuds, to get them to seal in your ear canal good enough to provide good isolation.> COMFORT – The secret to comfort when using earbuds is to use the smallest cushions which work for you. Three sets, small, medium, and large are included with the Sony MDREX15LP earbuds. You might be most comfortable with smaller cushions. It a can also take a while to build up tolerance. So, if earbuds hurt your ears, build up slowly wearing them a little longer each day. It can take weeks to get to the point that you can wear them all day long without pain. Changing, or replacing, earbud cushions is easy — just pull the cushion off, and push the new one (or cleaned one) back on.> PLUG – The plug is angled, at 90 degrees, unfortunately. If you pull on the cord, you won’t easily pull the plug out the socket, but you will put on strain on the cord (where the cord attaches to the plug), and potential damage it. In my experience, this is how most headphones fail.> PACKAGING – The Sony MDREX15LP earbuds that I purchased came in wonderful frustration–free packaging — in a small plastic bag in a small easy-to-open cardboard box. But, I can’t promise that you won’t get a horrible retail anti-theft pack. Amzn used to promote and feature frustration-free packaging — but, sadly, doesn’t anymore.> SLEEPING – The Sony MDREX15L don’t stick out as far as some other brands, and so, may be more comfortable when resting with your head to the side (or inside a helmet). Panasonic ErgoFit fit deeper in the ear, and are a little more comfortable in such situations. APTEK offers a nice earbud set for sleeping that is even smaller–but the cushion is built-in, so you can’t choose the cushion size. However, even with the APTEKs, I cannot comfortably sleep with an earbud in the ear that is on the pillow. My solution – I just use one earbud in the ear that is NOT on the pillow. In fact, I recycle earbud sets where one earbud has failed, by cutting the failed earbud off, and using the working earbud, shifting the earbud from ear to ear if I change sides.> TIP – CLEANING EARBUDS – The build up of earwax is a serious problem. It can actually muffle and distort or block the sound, and when it gets that bad, effective cleaning is difficult or impossible. The best and simplest strategy is to take a look at your earbuds every few days, and vigorously scratch/flick the open hole of the cushion several times. That breaks loose the wax into flakes, which you can then just blow away. Wiping (such as with a Q-tip) doesn’t work so well (unless you take the cushions off, clean them, and reinstall them), because wiping with a Q-tip may just grind wax into the little screen in front of the speakers, which is then impossible to clean. Caveat, Sony MDREX15L earbud cup-cushions are a slightly different shape from other brands, with a smaller hole, and seems to collect less earwax — even so, regularly checking and clearing earwax is a good thing to do.

Sony MDREX15LP earbuds are very efficient — the volume is loud at low volume settings — not TOO loud, there is plenty of room for adjustment, but louder than many other earbuds and louder than most headsets, at the same volume settings. Practically speaking, “efficient” means that the earbuds do not drain the battery on your battery-operated device as quickly. “Efficient” is a good thing. UPDATE — I’ve owned about 20 sets of Sony MDREX15LP earbuds over the past 5 years and never experienced this kind of failure — I don’t know what Sony did to fix the problem. My Senegal parrot is now the main cause of failure of my earbuds — but that’s a different story. So, I change my recommendation; I prefer the right-angle plugs since they are no longer a source of failure.> PACKAGING – The Sony MDREX15LP earbuds that I purchased came in wonderful frustration–free packaging — in a small plastic bag in a small easy-to-open cardboard box. But, I can’t promise that you won’t get a horrible retail anti-theft pack. Amzn used to promote and feature frustration-free packaging — but, sadly, doesn’t anymore. Update, every set (20 sets) of Sony MDREX15LP earbuds that I’ve purchased from Amazon over the past 5 years has been in “frustration free packaging”. Thumbs up for both Sony and Amazon.> SLEEPING – The Sony MDREX15L don’t stick out as far as some other brands, and so, may be more comfortable when resting with your head to the side (or inside a helmet). If you purchase the Panasonic Ergofits it becomes more important to monitor them for earwax buildup.UNDOCUMENTED FEATURE: On the model without the microphone ONLY — there is a little slider, just above the Y-split of the cord. If you slide the slider up to the earbuds themselves, and install the earbuds on your head, with the slider (and earbuds) on the back of your neck, your earbuds will stay in place (hang from your neck), even if you take the earbuds out of your ears. The model with the microphone does NOT have this feature.

  5. Impressive earbuds. This is the second time I’ve ordered these Sony earbuds as I was very impressed with my first pair. The sound quality is good as is the voice quality of the microphone. For an inexpensive pair of earbuds, these are also pretty durable. I had the first pair for about 5 months before they finally gave out. The reason I didn’t give them 5 stars was because the sound quality from the right side wasn’t great all the time with my first pair. It was strange, as the sound quality of the right earbud seemed to vary from app to app. I think there may have been a slight defect, as both sides of my new pair work equally well. I definitely recommend these.

For My Music Heads. If you love listening to music constantly, this product gets the job done but has room for improvement. These are super cute (the pink color way) and work great too! The noise cancellation feature is effective; however it’s not a cure-all across all soundscapes. The sound quality is strong because the levels are clear and crisp. (Frank Ocean “Close To You” goes crazy in these headphones). The volume control feature is fair. I wish the little button where the microphone is located worked better. Besides that, these are still the best pink earbuds I’ve ever owned. The wires are thin, so it feels a bit cheap, but trust me: if you only care about swag and sound quality … add these to your cart. 🎶🎀

  7. they’re good. Comfort: Not the Best. I’d say 5/10.Durability: Not sure. Each pair I had lasted 6 months. But I was pretty rough on them.Appearance: I’d say their good. Wire was appealing. Not my favorite bud shape, but to each their own.Sound Quality: Good. At this price point your not gonna really hear much difference between competitors. I did notice a little sharpness in female voices/higher frequences, but its unnoticeable unless your comparing. What I want to add:L shape connecter. Amazing. +1.Volume control, Erght! 0/10. Pretty bad, gotta turn them way up to listen.Overall good earphones. I wouldn’t encourage you, but I wouldn’t discourage you from buying these. You will be satisfied. Though I do prefer the panasonic ergo fit earphones for my small ears, and the snug fit, these are basically the same.

  8. Great headphones for the price. There’s a running gag in my family. I lose headphones weekly, and I’m always purchasing them. I’ve been through dozens of headphones, and these are some of the best. The price is great, and although they aren’t perfect (they don’t completely cancel out noise, tangles easily), they work well for the price range (if you’re constantly replacing headphones like me). There’s no static when you listen to music, it is great to use the microphone (nobody has complained while I am on the phone), and they are a sleek design. If I lose this set, I will most likely repurchase them as I am pretty satisfied.

  9. Decent earbuds. Bought these for work calls on my laptop. Easy to use, lightweight, no issues with sound or microphone quality. They don’t last forever but cheap enough that I don’t feel bad replacing them every few years. I also like that it comes with different size buds so they can fit the size of your ear comfortably

  10. Excellent. I bought one from Walgreens for $4.99 and it was horrible. only one ear phone was working. So I decided to purchase this from Amazon and it works very well and its only $5 more. You can hear clearly and they are loud and comfortable.Highly recommend; would purchase again.

Like the quality and the price. Sony quality at a very affordable price. There is no noise cancellation function – wouldn’t expect it for the price. These are now my go-to gym headphones.

  12. Good noise cancelling. I keep coming back to these. Yes-they break after 6 months and you’ll have to replace them but you won’t mind because you’ll have good sound, noise cancelling, and comfortable fit in the meantime. For the money-they’re great.

  13. 10+ years. I have literally been buying these for over 10yrs. I don’t even remember how I got the original pair, but they lasted a super long time just using them for music at school. I use them to sleep because the wireless ones are 1. expensive and 2. constantly get lost. the description says “tangle free,” which I realize now I’ve never had tangling be an issue. I get new ones about every 1/2 – 1 year.they will hold up for longer than you expect if you use them for normal use instead of sleeping on them every day like I do. the cord will probably develop an issue where you have to have it a certain way or one of the earbuds will go quiet. this doesn’t really matter to me since I’m a side-sleeper and only use one anyways. it’s also not a big deal at all if you’re at a desk or something.I have Letshuoer S12 pro wired earbuds and wireless Galaxy Buds Pro 2. obviously these do not compare at all to them, however I’m not offended whenever I go from listening to music with the S12s to listening to random YouTube videos with these. the main issue I can see anyone having with these is that the cord noise can be distracting while you’re moving around if you’re not used to tuning it out. the sound is not insane, it’s just really good for being $10. there is no tinny noise to me and I can see someone making them sound a lot better if you’re into messing with audio settings. I would say they are very balanced in terms of sound, like they’re not super bass-boosted or anything.while there may be better earbuds for music around the $20 price (Moondrop CHU II DSP), the combination of being extremely cheap (you won’t cry when they break), lasting for long enough to not be annoying, having no notable annoyances while just listening to stuff, and how lightweight & comfortable they are makes me recommend them to everyone – ESPECIALLY if you’re mainly listening to YouTube videos.

  14. 17. Insane Sound Quality. No kidding, this bass is insane, the quality is awesome and high definition! They fit so comfortably! Super worth it of money and they won’t fall off my ears! It’s a win-win!

  18. Lightweight, Trebles come through, Seems fragile. The earbuds are extremely lightweight, which is why I bought them. The wiring feels fragile but should last a few months. They have no bass but work well for neutral sounds like podcasts, piano, and guitar. They’re also not very loud—100% volume sounds low compared to other headsets. The quality of the earbud case itself is excellent!

  20. Great sound, but flimsy cords. I got a few of these for my hubby and I, and they sound great for the price! It would be nice if they made them more durable, because they end up in knots all the time. So, as long as you are extra careful, they are good enough. If you want more durable cords, then get the next price range up, and I will for us next time. I had a small budget and couldn’t get us the the $20 pair, but I guess I will have to. So, if you have a small budget, these will make you happy. They are comfortable and have great sound. Not bad for under $10 each. Just be easy with them.

Very impressive. A friend had tried a lot of bluetooth earbuds and wired headphones/earbuds on their phone and the sound quality in talking to them was not great so when I went looking for a headset I was dubious. However, I was biased towards Sony and for $10… these I thought were worth a chance. These work great. The voice sound quality on sound heard is excellent. More important the sound quality of the mic picking up my voice is also excellent so I’m told. I have not used these for listening to music and not interested in such so cannot comment on the frequency response for that usage. Can’t comment on longevity or quality of the materials these are made from at this point as they’re new and in perfect condition so if a problem develops like cord or plug issues, I’ll post an update in a few months to let you know. For now, I’d rate these excellent for comfort, fit and sound quality for phone conversations.

  22. Sony Wired Earbuds. As someone who values great sound quality and comfort, the Sony Wired Earbuds have truly impressed me. Whether I’m listening to music, taking calls, or tuning into podcasts, these earbuds offer a fantastic audio experience for an affordable price. After using them for several weeks, here’s my detailed review:Sound Quality:When it comes to audio performance, the Sony Wired Earbuds deliver excellent sound quality for their price range. The sound is clear, balanced, and rich, with decent bass and crisp highs. Whether you’re listening to pop, rock, or podcasts, the audio remains sharp and immersive. It’s not the deepest bass you’ll ever hear, but it’s more than sufficient for casual listeners and everyday use. I was especially impressed by the clarity during phone calls—the mic picks up voice well, making it great for hands-free conversations.Comfort & Fit:The earbuds come with multiple ear tip sizes, which ensures a snug and comfortable fit. I have worn them for extended periods, and they never felt uncomfortable or too tight. The soft silicone tips help with passive noise isolation, so you can enjoy your music without being distracted by outside sounds. I’ve used these earbuds during long walks and workouts, and they’ve stayed in place without any issues. They’re lightweight and ergonomic, making them ideal for daily use or on-the-go listening.Build Quality & Durability:The build quality of these Sony wired earbuds is solid for the price. The cables are reinforced to prevent tangling, and they feel reasonably durable. The earbud housing is compact and made of a sturdy plastic material that holds up well to regular use. I’ve dropped them a few times, and they’ve remained intact, showing no signs of wear or damage. The inline mic and remote are convenient for adjusting volume or taking calls, and they feel responsive without any annoying lag or unresponsiveness.Ease of Use:These earbuds are incredibly easy to use, with a simple 3.5mm jack that plugs into any compatible device, whether it’s a smartphone, tablet, or laptop. No need for Bluetooth pairing or charging; you just plug them in and start listening. The inline controls make it easy to pause/play music, adjust the volume, or take calls with just a few clicks. The setup is quick, and you can rely on them to work seamlessly with any device that has a headphone jack.Noise Isolation & Sound Isolation:While these aren’t active noise-canceling earbuds, they do a great job of blocking out ambient noise due to their in-ear design. The silicone tips create a decent seal in the ear, providing passive noise isolation that helps you enjoy your music without distractions. They won’t block out all external noise like high-end noise-canceling models, but for everyday use, they’re more than sufficient.Value for Money:For the price, the Sony Wired Earbuds offer exceptional value. They provide clear, high-quality sound, a comfortable fit, and durability without the hefty price tag of premium earbuds. If you’re looking for affordable earbuds for everyday listening or casual use, these are an excellent choice. They deliver much more than you would expect for the price point, making them a great budget-friendly option for anyone who wants reliable sound quality without breaking the bank. Conclusion:Overall, the Sony Wired Earbuds are a fantastic choice for anyone seeking a budget-friendly pair of earbuds that offer clear sound, comfort, and ease of use. Whether you’re listening to music, taking calls, or just need a reliable set of earbuds for everyday activities, these deliver excellent performance. They’re durable, comfortable, and sound great for their price, making them a great option for casual listeners or anyone who needs an affordable, quality earbud option.

  23. Surprisingly decent quality, great price, but don’t last very long. They honestly have good quality audio, definitely for the price. Only problem is one ear bud fails after a few months (I’ve been through probably 5 or 6 of them, they all fail the same way). They’re still good while they last though which is why I’ve bought 5 or 6 of them lol.Definitely worth it if you need a cheap pair in a rush for traveling etc. And they’re unironically perfect for work or anything where you’d only keep one earbud in, because even after one fails you can still use the other side for like a year+.

Great buds. These are the best sounding wired buds I’ve ever used. I use them with my mp3 player, when mowing the lawn…. and sometimes with my phone before bed. They sound great. The colors look cool. They fit my ears perfectly and are quite comfortable. No issues, just 5 stars.

  25. Great sound quality for the price. Sony good electronic manufacture so no doubt the headphone sound is good. Was looking for simple headphone and because of such a great value got an extra one for backup. Highly recommend it!
