Great product, strong Alexa integration, challenging WiFi setup. I was looking for a colored smart light bulb set that could go into my daughter’s ceiling fan lights, and this product was a great fit. Once configured it works well with Alexa, using commands to turn on/off, change colors/brightness/theme., etc.The Govee app works quite well to detect the bulbs and add them to the app configuration. The amount of options to customize all aspects of use via the Govee app is also quite impressive.The largest headache was getting the bulbs to connect to Wifi. The product is quite clear that is doesn’t support 5ghz wireless networks, which is fine. However, more and more Wifi solutions are using intelligent wifi delivery to 2.4/5ghz devices using a single wifi connection as opposed to separate networks. Since the bulbs seem to effectively try to bridge off the wifi your phone is on, they fail to connect assuming your phone is connecting at 5ghz using that intelligent selection protocol. A great workaround I found was to set your iPhone to low power mode (a standard IOS setting) and it will auto-connect to Wifi at 2.4ghz, allowing the bulbs to make the connection – and then they work fine afterwards and you can set your phone back to normal power modes. If they improve the documentation/best practices for the product here and make this easier to do/troubleshoot, would likely be 5 stars from me.
These are amazing. These lightbulbs are really cool! I have them connected to my Echo speaker and it’s really cool being able to turn my lights on and off without having to walk over the the light switch or pull the string on my fan! The brightness is a significant improvement over my Sengled smart bulb and the color range is incredible! I have purchased other govee products in the past and will continue to do so in the future! The only thing I dislike is that the lowest brightness setting is still a little too bright for using at night in my bedside lamp.
So far so good. Easy setup, great connectivity! Hoping these hold up well so I can purchase outdoor lights and strip lights by Govee. My other bulbs by another brand kept losing connectivity and would come on at unscheduled times during the night or wouldn’t come on at all during scheduled times.So far I love the app, looking forward to playing around with all the features to see what these lights can really do!
