Worth every penny. I have used this several times now and the ice is much closer to a Hawaiian shaved use than the standard snow cone that you could get elsewhere. The shaved ice truck that comes through here certainly has bigger chunks than this does. My children can literally take the shaved ice and make snow balls out of it! It’s easy to use. Load the hopper with ice, hit the button and lower the pressure plate behind to ensure all the ice gets shaved. The only complaint is the bowl that comes with it for the ice to fall into is not a perfect fit and it moves all over as the ice comes into it. I simply turn it around anyway so the ice has an empty spot to fill. I think there would be a traffic jam otherwise. From what I can tell, there is also only one plastic piece and that is the spiral the spits out the ice. It needs to be plastic because the ice would freeze to it otherwise. Try eating these with a metal spoon and you will understand… LOL It’s like a wet tongue to a frozen pole! It also comes with an ice pick in case it’s needed.

  2. I LOVE this ice crusher. I guess you have to be me and really appreciate snow cones on a hot Arizona day….or not. I would have them anywhere. I actually gave it counter space because I do use it often and it is heavier than some small appliances. I love how fast I have “snow” and so do my dogs when I make them puppy pops. I have great coffee flavoring that I use to make my adult snow cones and will be adding Pina Colada flavor the next time I make some. just sounds like a great fit! It arrived fast, well packaged, and is just as described. It is a little noisy, but no more so than my Vitamix and is seriously only on for seconds to get a good sized bowl of “snow.” If you are trying to decide if it is what it says it is….I recommend. Since I use it just for myself, I don’t have a clue how it would hold up if used lots, like making snow cones at an event. There is also no storage for the ice so you make as you go. I think it would work at kid parties fine.

Great machine, nightmare to clean. So the obvious good things up first, fast delivery, great product, quality material, good price, honestly hard to complain. But there are a couple things that I do want to point out for the pickier users. I waited to post this review until I’ve been playing around with the machine for a few weeks. Now that I’ve got a good feel for the machine itself I feel like I can tell you the cons and how to deal with them in an easier way to make the cons not so bad.So I fell in love with Hawaiian ice and Korean binsu fairly recently but have always loved shaved ice. I had one of those horrible plastic hand crankers that did not work and have been waiting for the opportunity for a mechanical one for quite some time. They’re usually too expensive though and honestly they felt like a luxury that I didn’t really have the ability to justify. Then all this hot weather hit and I went through some health issues and after going and seeing a doctor the doctor suggested that I find a waiting corporate even more water into my diet than I already did. So I thought to myself, why not use shaved ice as a way to put more water in my diet? That being said I ended up ordering this machine.I wanted to have the machine plugged in on a shelf where I could use it whenever I wanted to have shaved ice. I also wanted to be able to make all sorts of fancy shaved ice with different flavors and all the goodies. Having never done anything like this before there was obviously some learning going on.First of all if you decide to use anything other than water in your shaved ice machine, make sure that you are going to be able to put the machine into your sink and hose it thoroughly each time you use it. Where I had initially put it it was very inconvenient to have to constantly move it I was hoping that I could manage it by a sponge and spring spritzing system. Absolutely don’t do it that way. If you use a disinfectant spray of any type that isn’t the kind that evaporates into simple water, a pet friendly variety, you can’t find a way to disinfect it. If you do use the other kind, there’s no guarantee that you’re going to still get it clean. The material that goes through, whether it be ice, frozen juices, or teas or frozen berries, it ends up in some pretty strange places in the machine. And can get really stuck on by the way. So honestly, just put it in your sink and hose the heck out of it. If you want to spritz it after that just to be extra sure no problem, just make sure you use something that’s the equivalence of pet and children friendly, something that evaporates in the water, for safety purposes.Another reason to put it in your sink, for some reason I have the luck of Doom and whenever I’m using the machine lately it likes to explode ice chunks everywhere when I open it back up. The other day I was using frozen berries and I ended up with berries all over the place including on myself. The best way to avoid this problem, is the turn the machine off with the button before you lift the door back open with anything that’s liable to do super chunky explody stuff. Alternatively, you could just do it in your sink so if there is a spillage or mess it’s in your sink.Speaking of spilling, I almost forgot, for some reason the bowl has a hard time catching All of the ice as it comes out the bottom. I do recommend that you use a larger ice catcher and that you can rotate it manually so that it doesn’t pile up too high and one spot. It’s not a big deal, but it can add to the mass factor so definitely consider again putting it in your sink.Another thing that was really helpful, was discovering that if you use a metal bowl the ice and stuff doesn’t melt as quickly but it can be very cold on your hands and occasionally will freeze the bowl to whatever surface you said it on while you’re eating the stuff. There were a few occasions where it froze to my potholder and another occasion where it froze to my placemat. I thought it was funny but I’m sure some people don’t think it’s funny.Overall it’s a quirky machine to work with but once you figure out all its quirks it’s not a big deal. The hardest thing is figuring out the best way to clean it so that you don’t accidentally give yourself food poisoning, assuming you don’t use only ice. If you’re only going to use ice no big deal it’s just water.I absolutely love my machine, I would not trade it for another that I’ve seen. It has been doing its job just fine, it’s been quite an entertaining journey of learning how to not feel like a… Child? Lol, and if you messes along the way that made me want to cry but not cry more than feel the light of having my bowl of yummy stuff. As far as the hydration routine, I seem to be doing much better on that front anyways. So I guess it was a great excuse to get something I wanted anyways. If you like Hawaiian shaved ice or Korean binsue, this is definitely going to be something you love after you learn how to use it. The ice pick that it came with was surprisingly helpful too. I didn’t think I’d ever use it and then I ended up using it and discovering how incredibly useful it was. I have already recommended this machine to a couple of my friends. And I think one of them has already looked into ordering it.Anyway I don’t know what else to say other than I just love my machine!

  5. Summer Favorite. I LOVE THIS SHAVER. the safety stop when it detects the lid being lifted is amazing in terms of how quickly it stops the shavers blade. Truly dummy proof, and a very soft ice—kinda fresh fallen snow like consistency—when you use bigger ice (vs small ice cubes, you get choppy snow cones)Over all, happy with the pricing, how easy clean up is, & the fact that it includes a poker is great. Fantastic price for the quality of this machine.

  6. No need to go to the fair gas station. As crazy as this may sound, this product does exactly what it is supposed to do. It’s as quiet as one could expect from a machine that minces ice with ease. That might be it’s biggest weak point – the ice is so fine that it almost compacts into a big bowl of ice. It’s not a bad thing once you know what to expect. Plan on buying several cases of syrup unless you plan to use this for adult themed beverages.

  7. We made snow to play with. This was wonderful! Soo easy to use. We filled our kiddie pool in 45 mins with about 80 lbs of ice. We had a snowball fight for our daughters birthday and it was a huge hit here in south texas. Everyone from kids to adults got into the fun of playing in the snow.Just make sure to give it a break to cool off cause you dont want it to overheat. I see us doing this again just for fun with our neighbors and to cool off in the summer. Not to mention its real purpose of snowcones. Its actually a really nice shaved ice consistency. Cant wait to try it with syrup.

  8. Perfect. This machine sturdy, not made out of a bunch of plastics, it’s durable and super simple to use! No issues after 3 uses. Easy clean up.

  10. Pleasantly surprised. I like that it is lightweight yet does a heavy duty job. Light & airy shaved ice and easy clean up. Love it!
