Product Features
Dogs are now arguably the most popular companion animals, and the general wellbeing of the family pet is of paramount importance to many people. Today far more veterinary surgeons are concerned with the welfare of dogs than with any other animal.
Veterinary Notes for Dog Owners provides a detailed, authoritative and easily understood text for the professional breeder and pet owner alike, as well as for veterinary surgeons and nurses looking for clear, up-to-the minute explanations of sometimes complex issues. Twenty authors, all experts in their particular fields, have come together under the astute editorial guidance of leading veterinary surgeon Trevor Turner BVetMed, MRCVS, to cover all aspects of canine health care and management. There are detailed sections on general and inherited disease, the organ systems and infectious and parasitic diseases; on nutrition and feeding; on first aid, poisoning, and nursing the sick dog; canine dentistry and hernias; on behavior and behavioral problems. Invaluable advice on choosing a dog and building kennels is included as well as such topics as understanding pet insurance. This book is destined to become the standard work on canine health care and management, the essential manual for anybody who takes a serious interest in the welfare of dogs.

A must for dog owners. Whether you own a dog as a family pet, or for showing or breeding, whether you have one dog, or several, this is the book you just HAVE TO HAVE. It covers everything from simple first aid, to severe illnesses, it’s a bible for dog owners. The content is condensed into simple easy to read terms, with diagrams, pictures and photographs. An index at the back takes you straight to what you are looking for, or just simply opening the book can get you to the particular chapter or subject you are seeking. My particular copy is quite old and well used. I have had dogs for many years and this particular book has proved helpful in many situations and it’s one part of my collection which is constantly pulled out of the book case. A must for dog owners!
BIG Waste of Money. Don’t waste your money on this book. EVERYtime I’ve looked to it for information on problems my dogs are experiencing I have found nothing.
Absolutely love this book, great for owners and professionals alike. Proving great as a reference and research resource for my degree in canine behaviour management, but I can imagine people outside of the industry finding it useful too.
I owned this book but I let some 1 borrow it which never came back to me I was very upset as I use the book when I get problems with my dogs or friends dogs so when I saw this book advertised I jumped at buying it the price was even better & this was in great condition so happy & I’ve already started using this book again thanks amazon x
A useful and indepth look at dog physiology in readable language. A bit more than most dog owners need but handy to dip into when trying to understand how dogs physically work/function, a comprehensive guide to some of the more common and complex diseases and illnesses that dogs get and a very constructive guide to dog management. As a working gundog owner with several dogs I found it very useful but I may be a bit too much for the single pet owner. Well worth the money spent.
