Only iron supplements my GI has been able to handle. I had severe anemia. Doctors told me take FE 65mg elemental iron. I could not tolerate those, even the “slow FE” type. I did my own research on brands, types of iron, bind agents, and helpers to potentate the iron. My symptoms were dizziness, fatigue, vertigo, nausea, neuropathy in my hands, constant stomach ache, and inability to eat much. I told the doctors my stomach didn’t do well on the 65mg typical supplement. Based on the information I read (some from Thorne’s own marketing team admittedly) I chose this product. So far, so good. Well tolerated and many of the above symptoms disappeared or abated. Why only 4 stars you ask, because with 25mg elemental iron this isn’t meeting the dose I need to increase my blood iron levels a much a needed. To be fair, that my bodies fault for not tolerating 65 mg of elemental iron. My doc told me this wasn’t good enough if it didn’t have 50-65 elemental due to my need. It is obviously improving my anemia due to the rapid relief from symptoms I had for years. The doctor showed me a graph of the last 10 year iron levels from lab work. The wise in iron indeed is not dramatic yet. After reading reviews here I asked the nurse practitioner if I could try taking two of these a day before going to the harsher formulations. She said she didn’t know and couldn’t immediately find any reference on this formulation that met the office’s standards for peer reviewed, published data. We know we often won’t find that for supplements since there are no obscene profits or patents on vitamins and supplements (it’s a crime they don’t tell us the true requirements for vitamin D3 when 10,000IU a day could significantly boost immune in northern states in the winter). The NP said “I advise you to take one with 65mg. I can’t say for sure if you should go off label with this formulation.” I told her: “I’m going to try it because this has been a game changer in how I feel and has nearly no bad side effects. Just a couple days in to 2 a day. It bothers my stomach a bit more. In fact, about twice as much as one pill (go figure). I’m going to stick with because I think this 2 pills of Thorne Research – Iron Bisglycinate will bring 50 mg Iron Supplement in an effective formula. I just hope it isn’t too much.I’ve bought several Thorne products and I am growing fond and trusting of the brand. I recommend you try these but please get clear info from doctors on severity of your need. The NP suggested I do more research on Iron Bisglycinate and other improved absorption and we will monitor the blood iron levels. FWIW I started this treatment (with one pill) at the same time as Vitamin B12 Cyanocobalamin injections. There was some magic one/two punch with the two treatments that seemed to wipe away years of pain and discomfort. Check you B12, Iron, D and other critical vitamins/minerals. Sometimes the answer is a relative affordable over-the-counter readily available supplement.
Vegetarian loosing hair. Solved prolem – long explaination. This review might be a little long winded but some of you might be in the same boat as me, and I really wanna help you, because it is terrifying losing your hair! I went vegan for about 5 years and then vegetarian over the last year because I really like cheese and eggs. I wasn’t paying attention to how much protein I was taking or how much iron I was getting. I was always a bit of a shedder, as I have long, gorgeous thick wavy hair. It occurred to me one day when I started losing a small handful of hair a day, that I might be shedding too much. I remembered a girl who told me she was a militant vegan for 12 years and then she started losing her hair. Her doctor had her eat mainly red meat and orange juice for a couple of months. She grew her hair back and stopped being vegan. Well, I happen to love being a vegetarian and I don’t really wanna eat meat again. So I read somewhere to check your iron. Unfortunately, you have to go to a doctor which I do not want to do EVER. So thankfully I found out that to test if you have low iron, you can take a pure gold ring and rub it on your cheek. If you are low in iron your skin will get blueish there and leave a streak. Well, thankfully I had a gold ring and I did just that and it left a streak. I went online and found this iron supplement that had the highest ranking. I didn’t care that it was heme iron. If absorbs better…great! I took that and vitamin C to absorb it and stayed away from coffee and eggs several hours away from taking my iron supplement, as that makes it hard to absorb the iron. A month and a half goes by and I’m still losing hair rapidly. I still had a lot of hair, but it felt thinner, like I had lost about 15 to 20%. Noooooo! I finally bit the bullet and bought some buffalo burgers. Two burgers a week with orange juice and an iron pill once a day and a month later the hair stopped falling out. I’m also making sure I get about 80 grams of protein a day taking organic protein shakes. I’ve cut back to one burger a week and my hair is falling out less then it ever did. Like maybe I’ll lose one hair instead of a bunch every time I run my fingers though all the ends. I’m taking an iron pill every other day now because I am also cooking out of an iron pot as well as eating iron rich foods and I don’t want too much iron in my blood, cause that can cause problems too. Thankfully, women bleed every month, so I probably shouldn’t worry about getting too much iron. Eventually I’ll wean myself off the burgers completely and stick with my reprimand. For now I’m very happy with this supplement. I don’t get any side effects at all.
Excellent Quality Alternative to Ferrous Sulfate. I’m helping a relative with severe iron deficiency anemia. They don’t tolerate ferrous sulfate very well, so I searched for a reputable chelated form with a good amount of elemental iron. I like they explicitly state the amount of elemental iron on the bottle. Make sure you ask your doctors or pharmacist about how to translate dosage between iron types. My relative likes it, they’re small/easy to swallow, with no GI upset. Only thing is I wish there was a 120 count bottle.
Don’t hurt stomach or cause constipation, long term results pending. My better half started on iron pills after the doctor indicated she has low iron combined with low blood pressure. Her biggest issue is that iron can cause constipation and she already has digestion issues, so she was looking for an iron supplement that will do what is needed but not worsen her digestive issues. She likes these because they don’t bother stomach or cause constipation. They seem to work at elevating an iron deficiency and have helped with low blood pressure. Of course, everyone’s body chemistry is different, so you will have to try and see if they work for you. Long term, I will update if these pills cease to be effective or cause any issues. Pricewise is ok for the bottle.4 stars
Easy on the stomach. My doctor recommended I start iron supplements due to typically testing in the anemic or borderline anemic range. I’ve tried a lot of different iron pills and these are the only ones that don’t make my stomach hurt. I noticed a difference in my energy within about 3 weeks of taking them. It has now been 2 months since I started them and I’ve had no issues with them. I also hate swallowing pills and these are quite easy for me to take.
Easy on your stomach. Iron pill was easy on my stomach, and there was no aftertaste. And the pill is very small. Easy to swallow felt better about two weeks after taking it.
Seems to work for people with low iron. My girlfriend’s iron is really low and she’s been suing THORNE Iron Supplement for a while now. They seem to be working, but you have to be consistent with taking it or your iron levels will still be low. There a lot of supplements out there but we learned that bisglycinate form of iron is more absorbable and much gentler on the stomach compared to traditional iron supplements. The capsule is small and easy to swallow, with no unpleasant aftertaste. After consistent use, I’ve noticed an increase in my energy levels, which is a clear sign that it’s helping boost my iron levels. Plus, there are no unnecessary fillers, making it a clean supplement option for those who are health-conscious.Pros:Enhanced absorption: Bisglycinate form is gentler on the stomach. No digestive discomfort: Doesn’t cause nausea or constipation.Small, easy-to-swallow.No fillers or artificial ingredients: Clean formulation from a trusted brand.Cons:Price: It’s more expensive than some other iron supplements on the market.Lower dosage frequency: May not be suitable for those who need a higher dose of iron per day.

It WORKS. Please do not discontinue this product. This iron supplement was a lifesaver during pregnancy when I needed more iron. My doctor was even surprised how in a short period it raised my iron levels (Note: I took more than recommended by the bottle because of how low my iron levels were towards the end of pregnancy). Always consult with your doctor to make sure the dosage is appropriate, I took a high dose under the doctor’s supervision). It did not cause any stomach discomfort or cause constipation like the other iron supplements I have tried. 10/10 product!
Great for raising iron levels without upsetting your stomach. I was advised by my doc that my iron levels were low and needed to do some low dose iron therapy, but I was concerned about gastric disturbance, like others have had. I read the reviews like others and said that they didn’t have issues. I’ve been taking it for a few weeks now and have had no issues, even on an empty stomach.
High-Quality Iron Supplement with No Stomach Discomfort. THORNE Iron Bisglycinate is by far the best iron supplement I’ve tried. The quality is excellent, and unlike other iron supplements, I’ve had no stomach aches or digestive issues after taking it. It’s easy to absorb, and I’ve noticed a real difference in my energy levels. Highly recommend for anyone needing a gentle, effective iron supplement!
An iron upgrade. This iron hasn’t done any of the horrible things to my digestive track that all of the others can do. Super tiny, coated pill makes it easy to take as well. Thorne is quickly becoming the only brand I will buy.
Great Customer Service. Never got to use the item, but great customer service. Long story short, bought item. Iron levels were so low, doctor gave me a prescription, tried to cancel item and get a refund. No refunds on this item from Amazon. Amazon told me to contact Thorne. Thorne approved Amazon refund and told me to keep the product! Excellent promptness to my message. Great company!
Work great. These are gentle and don’t cause me any stomach issues! My iron was very, very low in my bloodwork just 5 months ago and my doctor told me to start a daily iron supplement. She just retested me and my levels are already back in the normal zone!
Restless legs in pregnancy cured. This supplement plus Thorne Magnesium Bisglycinate – Powdered Magnesium Formula, cured my wife’s restless legs during pregnancy. The first pregnancy, of which she had terrible restless legs, was shortly followed by the second pregnancy and these supplements cured it.During her last pregnancy she took other brands of iron and magnesium but they didn’t work. It’s unfortunate that we didn’t try these for the first pregnancy.
Awesome product. I have only been taking this iron supplement for 3 days and I have already noticed a shift in my energy, I easily get nauseated by supplements and this one is very gentle! I think it is a great product especially for the price!
Thank you ♥️😍❤️👏🏼🔥💪. I absolutely love Throne Iron vitamins! I’ve tried other iron supplements before, but they often upset my stomach or had a metallic taste. These are completely different—super gentle, easy to swallow, and no unpleasant aftertaste.Within a couple of weeks, I noticed a real difference in my energy levels and overall well-being. I feel less fatigued and more focused throughout the day. Plus, I appreciate that Throne uses high-quality, clean ingredients without unnecessary fillers. If you’re looking for an effective iron supplement that’s easy on digestion and actually works, this is the one! Highly recommend.
Great product. This is my second order. After taking almost all of the first order, I am very pleased with its performance. No stomach upset or problem, good iron absorption, small – easy to take pills.
Gentle Iron That Actually Works Without Side Effects Finally Found an Iron Supplement I Can Tolerate. After struggling with iron deficiency for years and experiencing terrible digestive issues with traditional iron supplements, I was hesitant to try yet another product. However, THORNE’s Iron Bisglycinate has been a complete game-changer for me. The chelated form truly delivers on the promise of enhanced absorption without the gastrointestinal distress that plagued me with other iron products. What sets this apart is the bisglycinate form – iron bound to the amino acid glycine. This makes it much gentler on the stomach while actually improving bioavailability. I take it on an empty stomach without any nausea, constipation, or stomach upset that I experienced with ferrous sulfate supplements. This alone makes it worth the premium price. The 25mg dosage is perfect for maintenance and gradual improvement. My recent blood work showed steady improvement in iron levels after three months of consistent use, and my doctor was pleased with the progress. I have more energy throughout the day and don’t experience the afternoon fatigue that was becoming problematic.THORNE’s reputation for quality and third-party testing gives me confidence in what I’m taking. The capsules are easy to swallow, and the bottle is clearly labeled with expiration dates and batch information. No artificial colors, flavors, or unnecessary additives – just pure, effective iron supplementation. While more expensive than drugstore iron supplements, the superior absorption and lack of side effects make this significantly better value in terms of actual results and tolerability.Highly recommend for anyone who needs iron supplementation but has struggled with digestive issues from other products.
Good and effective. If you want iron supplements this is probably the best formulation. Doesn’t upset stomach and we did see iron levels improve significantly in a few weeks
