  1. Beats the heck out of rolling them. I bought this cuz a family member had gotten one – always wanted a press instead of a roller! And it works! Super easy to use any recipe to make flour tortillas ( I honestly haven’t tried corn yet), but recipes are included. The singular complaint I have is that you better like thick tortillas, because they will be thick. If there was a way to make them somewhat thinner, that would be awesome (hence 4 instead of 5 stars). But you do get round tillas without having to roll them by hand. Definitely a sturdy lil workhorse! I’d still recommend this item!

  2. Simplify your cooking. This is so easy to make different size tortillas. I use the 2c flour & ¾c filter water (microwaved 20sec) in my standard mixer then flour the bottom sheet before placing one of the balls of tortilla then flour the ball on top before placing the other sheet on top, push down 5 times the take top off & peel tortilla off (repeat until all balls are done), then I put mock meat inside and roll up like a tostada put in the oven at 400 for 25 minutes eat them with some dip for dinner, but you can make tacos by hanging them off the oven rack for 15 minutes at 375. Check online for different recipes. This is such a life saver, I was able to make noodles fast when I needed them but didn’t have time to buy/get them.

  3. Tortillas press. Very heavy duty.

Good press but very heavy. This is a great press ,it is heavy in weight and makes tortilla shells like crazy, round and just the right thickness. I made a batch of flour and Masada shells and had very good luck. Don’t hesitate to get this one,It’s a keeper!

  5. Terrific. Works perfect to make our tortillas! I recommend this one as it is cast iron and will last forever!

  6. Works great and easy to use. We had to experiment with making the dough. The corn Maseca worked well just have to let is dry enough to be firm and not sticky. We purchased the 10 inch to have the ability to make larger tortillas. It is simple and easy to work. It is heavy duty and well built unit. You can squish the dough back and forth as you press down on the handle. Open the lid and peel the top wax paper round off and let the tortillas sit and dry while cooking your one in the pan. When ready for the next one…hold the tortillas in your hand and then peel the last wax round off and drop in the pan. We used a little spray Avocado Oil and must use an iron skillet to cook. They taste great and fun to make!

Love this product. No electricity, Easy upkeep, three parts only, it could last a hundred year. This is my second Star Blue product, I just decided that I wanted a larger unit, my old one is only 6 inches, not large enough to do flour tortillas which are normally larger. Here’s hint for seasoning them in your oven, remove the two wing nuts and screws holding together along with the handle, the only items you need to season are the two flat plates (on the contact side), this makes it so much easer to handle in the oven otherwise the unit will not lie flat. I had over night delivery (free) and item was packed beautifully.

GREAT for chicken cutlets. I bought this because i saw a video of someone using a tortilla press to easily tenderize chicken to good thin italian cutlets. I was skeptical but i bought this. At first i tried it with sliding ziplocks over each side but the chicken just slid out, then i tried it with the round parchment they provide in the box and i got perfect thin cutlets in seconds. it worked perfect and saves me so much time by not beating the chicken breasts with a meat tenderizers.

Great find!… until it wasn’t (UPDATE). My original review is below, but after two months of periodic use (1-2 times per week) the handle snapped in half!! I could still use the press and just lean my body over it, but if I do that it would be easier to just got back to using a rolling pin. Very disappointing! It worked as expected, and with the larger size (10 inches), tortillas of many sizes can be made. I would buy it again if I ever need another, but I expect this one will last a while! It is heavy, durable, and a new addition to the most used items in my kitchen.

  13. Tortilla maker. Love my tortilla maker, it’s heavy and the size does help also.

  14. Very sturdy. Fun to use. Family loves the tortillas.

  15. Good product. It does what it’s supposed to, although the tortillas are not as thin as I had hoped for.

3 years later: still going strong. No idea how people are breaking this thing. It’s a heavy behemoth.Only thing I can figure is people going ape on it and pushing down too hard for too long. It’s a press… trust me; let the weight do the work. The handle is there for uniform spread, not to support your weight as you push down with all your might!I have been wary of the handle and always press down while seated with an open hand. Still feels solid.Maybe people have it on an unstable surface or slam down the lid instead of closing the lid? This isn’t an industrial hydraulic press, and it doesn’t take much to flatten raw masa. Will update later if somehow there are issues, but so far for years, this has held up great. My only concern continues to be the bolts held in with wing nuts. I always carefully inspect them before I start and they always seem to be fine. If somehow they start to wear out, I plan to replace with similar hardened bolts, but use lock nuts instead.

  18. Good quality. It was a gift for my daughter and she loved it!
